    I like listening to these stories about Thailand, I have lived here for 20 years now and completed my personal Brexit from the UK long before the term was coined! The last story was over quite some period of time and stretched back to eternity - well almost! Very sad for Pang losing her eyesight and just to add that I have personally come across many unfortunate situations, where it's not the proverbial sick buffalo, but a real medical situation that needs some financial support! That is not to say that I, or anyone else should throw money at them, but the Thai hospital care is not up to the standard of the UK and many Thais have the yellow card, which is very basic care! I know it's very hard to see family that you love fall into sickness when you cannot find the money to support them! You can imagine yourself if you have no money and no health insurance, what can you do? Guys, always make sure you have health cover when coming here!

    I have to agree with the old Israeli; The more you know, the more you realise you don't know. Very important when in Thailand and anywhere else. Thanks a lot for another enjoyable upload, Peter. Cheers!

    Australia is actually pretty boring after you've done the bars and beaches. Bangkok on a rainy night is like living in a Blade Runner film.
    Last year I stayed 6mths in Thailand and part of the experience was to drill down on what Thailand women are all about. I lost count of the dates and encounters but essentially, there are 3 levels of women, 1. Educated professional 2. Uneducated retail workers 3. Freelancer/bar girls
    Truth be known, while you can make a distinction based on education, the underlying factors are the same. Its all transactional, you're a provider one way or another. So if you're only staying up to a month, then just stick with type 3. If you're permanent then maybe consider 1 or 2 (if you want something ongoing). But imo, make a group of friends to hang out with and go option 3. whenever the need is there. Its definitely cheaper, unproblematic and you have variety. The additional plus is you won't get suckered into their lives and needs.
    If I could change anything it would be great if Thai women could communicate as well as Filipina's can ...that makes for much more fun.

    Peter...if you do not waffle as u put it...if you do not clarify some of the scenarios in the letters you read...it may not be easy for us to grasp the meaning of certain issues.The waffling that you do actually helps in giving life & clarity to the stories & situations that are in the letters you read.Keep it up.

    I'm from the United States and I love how Thai people make their families so important. Here we put our elderly people in nursing homes and rarely even visit them. Are there nursing homes in Thailand or do they take care of the elderly at home with family?

    • @ThailandBound
      @ThailandBound  ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Since I never had any trouble on my previous trips to Thailand I, too, did not worry about pickpockets until it happened to me on my last trip. My mistake was not returning immediately to the Nana hotel across the street from where I withdrew $600 in U.S. dollars with my right hand clutching the wallet in my pocket. Then I would have put the wallet along with my credit cards in the box taking only what I needed at the time. Losing the money and credit cards hurt but stupid is supposed to hurt. Just a heads up, brothers!

    The last experience I had of Thailand was how much it had changed for the worse, people have brought the west there, previously a girl would stay with you all day and help you with advice about prices, how to access things and the culture,but now it's the western idea of by the hour, something a lot less personal or enjoyable.

    The Philippines is perfectly safe. When did you last hear of a tourest getting mugged? Never happens. The armed security doesn't mean it's dangerous. The problem there is corruption but nobody wants to harm tourists. The Thai people as a group make an effort to speak English. In Mexico or Spanish speaking countries (not Spain) they don’t attempt to speak English and that’s super annoying

      Is this a joke? Do you learn languages to accommodate all the visitors coming to your country? No one is under any obligation to learn our language to accommodate our visits. The first time I went to south America I ran into 2 people who spoke English in 3 weeks in 3 countries. Since I studied Spanish and Portuguese beforehand, I didn't have any big problem. Thai is a pretty tough language to me, but I'm working on it.
