City Population: 37,056
City Area: 23.21 sq. mi
Metro Population (Florence, SC): 205,566
From Wikipedia:
Florence /ˈflɒrəns/ is a city in and the county seat of Florence County, South Carolina, United States. It is at the intersection of Interstate 95 and Interstate 20 and is the eastern terminus of the latter. It is the county seat of Florence County and the primary city within the Florence metropolitan area. The area forms the core of the historical "Pee Dee" region of South Carolina, which includes the eight counties of northeastern South Carolina, along with sections of southeastern North Carolina. As of the 2010 census, the population of Florence was 37,056, and the estimated population in 2019 was 38,531.
Florence is one of the major cities in South Carolina. In 1965, Florence was named an All-American City, presented by the National Civic League. The city was founded as a railroad hub and became the junction of three major railroad systems, including the Wilmington and Manchester, the Northeastern, and the Cheraw and Darlington.
The City of Florence was chartered in 1871 and incorporated in 1890 following the 1888 creation of Florence County. Prior to its charter, the city was part of one of the original townships laid out by the Lords Proprietors in 1719. The area was gradually settled through the late 19th and early 20th century. Early settlers practiced subsistence farming and produced indigo, cotton, naval stores and timber, which were shipped down the Great Pee Dee River to the port at Georgetown and exported. In the mid-19th century two intersecting railroads were built, the Wilmington and Manchester, and the Northeastern. Gen. W. W. Harllee, the president of the W & M, built his home at the junction, and named the community "Florence", after his daughter.
As a videographer I gotta tell you, GREAT video. I loved how you mounted the camera, kept it basic. No unneeded music bed, no dialogue. As someone who wants to relocate there, this video was invaluable. Great work.
It is a nice town to live in my opinion@TheNickVegas
Did you ever relocate?
Working on it, it's complex. Thank you for asking.
My mom live here and looks like a great city!! Im not from america but see all the things from another country looks awesome!! In some years im gonna meet my mom for the first time in this city and looks great :')
I live there
Nice
I live here . Prayers that you meet your mom soon !!
Grew up here and then was gone from 1989-2019. Unfortunately got sucked back into the black hole after 20+ years. Its not a terrible place, other than being terribly boring. Covid has made that much worse. Were it not for my parents and siblings being here, there is no way I would have come back.
We just moved back from vidalia Georgia. Rather be here than a town with a Walmart is the biggest thing and everything closed by 11 lol
Any family fun places to go?
yes, it is boring, it has always been a boring town...
Same with me
٠Boring village
Everything is so spread out in S Carolina. I used to live there. I had to drive at least 30/40 wherever I had to go.
That’s for most cities, luckily I live in Myrtle beach so things are pretty close together in this area
Thanks for the video! Been years since I was last through there! Brings back a lot of great memories!👍
Great video. Thank you for posting!
What day of the week did you shoot this? Florence is usually busy with traffic. Seems odd to see lol.
Edit: Looking at the date this was uploaded, there weren't lots of ppl out because of the pandemic. 🤦🏾♀️ I totally forgot lol.
It was a Sunday. The day before Labor Day.
Very nice my hometown haven't been there in about 3 year's
Its nice to see not much changed...

Oh, look at you breezing through a red light! Hah 😂
I was born here, and so were my 3 children, all of whom are grown except 1,shhe will be 18 n 3years. I own a nice home here, and enjoy my quiet and well kept neighborhood. There is benefits living in Florence, we are just an hour from myrtle beach. I lived in Columbia for about 15 years, and moved back to Florence to take care of my mother, and I retired here. Although, I may decide to move again, if anything happens to the little bit of family I have left.....
my hometown and still place of residence.
I lived on Darlington Street a nice house on the corner I wonder if you're going to pass it
I am driving down next month, looking at a 3.5 acre lot just outside of town, unzoned, want to open a auto shop next to a home I build, customisation and hot rods, like the location, close to the beach, and close to Darlington, as well as a couple of hours from Charleston.
My sister's cousin from the Maryland/D.C./Virginia lives up in Florence.
how they liking it?
Best restaurant in town? we’ll be driving thru on our way to Florida
Wish I’d have known you were coming to Florence. I’da loved to take you on a tour of the countryside and showed you some old civil war places and farms
Might head back through there later this year for the beach season on the way to Myrtle.
People in Florence don’t shop? I haven’t seen on shopping center or big box store.
Does Florence still have a pretty good 'southern' feel to it as far as its people?
Love that question. Southernness is tragically doomed as people drink repeated rounds of the yankee kool-aid. Help us save the Arlington monument!
Is it racist?
@@lu211 If your grandmother still lives there I would be happy to visit her on my journey.
@@lu211 Who cares?
yo! at the first part of the video you just ran a yellow light!?😧❗
My home town.
Almost at the end of the video I guess he doesn't pass Darlington Street unless I missed it
Very nice
🙏
I come from Germany but love this kind of american small towns. 5*
I come from an American small town and love Germany😂 Planning to move to Düsseldorf next year
Dreary little town. I wonder what people do to fight boredom. I know they have a race track. Other than that, I don’t know. And by the way, we caught every freaking red light.

" You probably in the Wrong Lane !?"
So l guess they have to travel far to go to work?
No, not really unless you work out of town. But there are lots of jobs here. I would say you'd need a car, bus pass, or a Lyft though. Otherwise, you ain't getting far lol.
