- STOP Using the Default CONTEXT MENU in WINDOWS! Try THIS Instead...
In this video, I'll show you how you can customize the context menu in Windows 10 and Windows 11 using a free software called SHELL.
SHELL allows you to add custom items to the context menu and provides you with a ton of themes and styling options, like making the context menu transparent for example. Also, if you've been wondering how to get the full context menu in Windows 11 OR you're just looking for a Nilesoft SHELL guide, this video is for you!

I've been using it for several months but never tried and tested the configurations to this extent
but after watching this I'll certainly be tweaking it to something a little more elaborate to suit my system.
Many thanks for sharing with us. 👍👍
So glad you like it!
have been using it for so long, and absolutely love this software.
Take Ownership, Run Terminal, Run Terminal as Admin, Link Shell shotcuts (another software to create symbolic links, hardlinks, junctions, etc)....
and so much more, properly categorized.
thi sis really amazing.
the only part I do not like is 100% text dependent, they should really add a GUI for it.
as multiple file types may have multiple options, like html, python, txt, xml, etc files also have EDIT option.
ps1, cmd, bat, also have RUN option, etc
it will be so much easier using a GUI to configure everything more effectively.
Very true, a lot more people will use the app then if they are able to customize it via GUI.
Superb vid, as ALL you vids are, so well explained with just the right amount of clear info, very well done and Thks.
Great tool i was using that. Now thanks to you i know extra things.
What type of mouse cursor do you use? I think it's simple and minimal

@@memstechtips Thank you sir!
Thank you for this awesome guide. question, how do I uninstall it if needed and does that revert back to the original Win 11 context menu?
At the moment it seems very interesting to me, I've known about it for a while although for some reason that escapes me (in addition to not knowing the configuration mechanism until now) I don't remember having tried it, something I want to mention is that (by construction or intentionally) the The program respects the 'localization' of Windows (at least as far as it goes) and shows the items in the native language, which is appreciated and an important detail for some users.
Also appreciated is that access to the Terminals has a quick option to administrator mode.
A small disappointment (although perfectly understandable and to some extent expected) is that it does not detect 'my' default file explorer, which is obviously not Windows Explorer, something perhaps even fussy on my part.
I suppose that being a SyMenu user since XP had its reign, makes the customization formulas so familiar to me and one of the reasons for using it even though not working on XYplorer takes away much of the operability (very unfortunately for my!)
Anyway: thank you very much for the very good video! The application works completely without errors and very pythonically on my t11ny win.
Excellent video!
Thanks
This thing has a serious issue with the "Send to" menu... Most of the time it just doesn't show the options inside, like "Compressed (zipped) folder" or the removable devices to send files...
I think it displays that under "more options" if I'm correct.
@@memstechtips Yes. But under "Send to," the options won't display... Like, whatever are there in the default shell menu. Can't see usb devices under "Send to"
Which import command do i have to delete in order to remove the "Show more options" item from file's context menu?
This is kind of off-topic but the white flash that occurs when opening windows is really annoying and I feel like it got way worse with Windows 11 in comparison to Windows 10 where I didn't notice it
I haven't really noticed it to be honest, but now I'll probably never be able to "un-notice" it.
That... is... AWESOME!
Glad you think so!
Hi, i have problem: after restart the classic (old) context menu appears, why ?! 😒
Is it possible to configure a specific entry that only appears when right-clicking on a specific file type such as PDF?
Hmm I'm not too sure about that, what do you want to be displayed when right-clicking on PDF if I may ask?
@@memstechtips A proper software to convert or edit PDF, for example..
Is this app safe? I scanned it on virus total, and it says it contacts some other Ip addresses and domains.
I thought I was an offline program...
Please make a video on how to make the taskbar transparent without downloading any 3rd-party software.
It's not possible.
The problem is that even if you created code to do this, the next big update would undo your change, which is why you need programs that constantly persist the change.
how did you make explorer using mica alt
how to bring back the copy, paste, rename, etc icons on top of the context menu like the default windows 11, instead of the windows 10 style
Do you mean when you are using the Windows 10 menu in Windows 11?
@@memstechtips no when using shell with windows 11
I use 7zip and want to remove the default "extract all" option from the context menu. which line should I get rid of to remove it?
I don't think SHELL has an option for that directly, you might need to change that in the Windows Registry but I'm not exactly sure where.
I think there is an option in 7zip app for this. Not sure though
Yes there is an option.
1/ Go to 7zip application
2/ Go to TOOLS
3/ Go to OPTIONS
(new dialouge box pops up)
4/ Select 2nd tab - 7-Zip
From here you should see a bunch of Radio boxes to (Un)tick and select what is your preference.
You're welcome. 😊
For 7zip you can edit the options from 7zip itself
please tell me how to remove amd software from context menu
Wow..it's an amazing tool.. 👍👍👍
I think so too!
I likey!! Thanks matey
My pleasure!
Cool .. Thanks
No problem!
Can u plz help me fix my laptop screen giving pink color
Sir what to write for this pc?
How to make the theme automatically switch with auto dark mode ???
I'm not sure, sorry...
Mine is hold left SHIFT then click right mouse button...
Also while using SHELL?
@@memstechtips speaking of SHIFT KEY is there a way to show everyting without having to old it every time?
I have an inspiron 15 5000 series laptop and suddenly the Wi-Fi adapter is missing have tried all the usual tricks but still no solution? Tried downloading the driver from dell website tried multiple still didn't work. The only connection working is Ethernet. Can you help?
Do you have the box it came in and is there a disc for the laptop in the box? it saved me when I switched back to windows from linux mint debian.
Could you try and do all of the available driver updates using this method? th-cam.com/video/lx9KGvXJO9o/w-d-xo.html Remember to create a system restore point first.
@@AnimeAustin1 no and I forgot the name of the driver. Will try all that I can find on the dell site.
@@memstechtips thank you. Your Rufus bootable video helped me a lot as I haven't booted a windows before.
I bet that's a case of FN + the function key that corresponds to Wi-Fi
Great sir
Glad you like it!
That's another program to install is so annoying any changes u want to do in windows like clear task bar etc. you need external programmes to install! quick u notices to start your os u need start multiple programmes and booting time changes from 10 second to 1 min ! Pointless
Agree with you, it is annoying.
Might as well start ricing a Linux distro
The worst thing is that every two or three months Microsoft introduces updates that reset these laborious settings or cause problems in the operation of the system.
This looks promising.
It really is quite good.
I didn't know😮
Atleast now you know hey! 😀
i just forced it back to windows 10 style
Yeah that also works, but if you want to customize it, SHELL is really good.
He probably had Nick Rekieta for a lawyer.
I'm missing something here, care to elaborate?
❤❤..

This Method Is Really Tricky For Regular Windows Users. Unlike Linux, Where Users Always Need To Spend Hours Working With Commands They Don't Understand, Regular Windows Users Won't Be Comfortable With Code Editor Commands Either. To Improve Your Video, Consider Finding A Way To Achieve The Desired Outcome Without Relying On Code & Commands.
I would hazard a guess that most people watching these kinds of videos are at least familiar with the CMD. When it comes to basic scripting, I would agree for sure. That being said, his instructions are clear and he also provides a written guide. The tools are all there.
Thanks for all your feedback. It would be impossible to provide a guide for every type of computer user (with regards to skills) - that's also why I mention premade theme files at the end of the video. I did all I could think of to provide some sort of value to everyone.
LordShadow:
I See Your Point About Familiarity With CMD Among Viewers. However, Even Clear Instructions And Written Guides Can Be Daunting For Wider Audience Because Not All Users Watching This Video Will Be Comfortable With CMD Or Scripting. Many Users Prefer Graphical Interfaces Over Command-Line Tools Because They Are More Intuitive And Less Prone To Errors. Command-Line And Scripting Methods Can Lead To Mistakes That Might Be Hard For Average Users To Troubleshoot. User-Friendly Tools Reduce The Risk Of Errors And Make The Process Smoother. By Offering Alternative Methods That Rely On Graphical Interfaces Could Make The Instructions More Accessible. This Way, Even Those Who Are Not Comfortable With Code Can Still Benefit From It.

a useless hassle
I assume you are referring to the Windows 11 Context Menu
@@memstechtips no I am not
@@MaxRiley useless for those who do not need Customization and are okay with the default crap W11 comes with.
Stuff like, LittleBigMouse, Nilesoft Shell (this software), Quicklook, PowerToys, and a few more are stuff that almost every power user have in their checklist and once you use them, it is hard to go back using to the default crap.
