We take an overnight trip to the amazing ancient city of Berat, Albani! In this video, we travel from Saranda, Albania by bus to show you the breath taking scenery in this UNESCO world heritage site. From the gorgeous Ottoman buildings (city of 1000 windows), to the ancient fortress. We show you a hotel room, take you on our adventure to find our AirBnb, explore the fortress from 400BC, take a scenic walk around the insides of the castle and it's inhabited dwellings, and then share some dinner experience. This is an amazing place to visit. Regardless of whether you live in Albania, are on a vacation in Albania, or looking for your next adventure, this is one place you should put on the list. Came here from Julie and Warren. I get excited seeing new retirees traveling the world. It’s so inspiring to see you all galavant around the world. I’m turning 44 soon and this is the life that me and my husband are looking forward to. We slow travel during off season throughout winter but this is the kind of lifestyle we aspire to have by the time I hit 60 when our daughter turns 18. Looking forward to following you both. Oh thanks so much for watching, we really appreciate it! We are living the dream and we feel so fortunate. It took some courage to sell it all and do it, but we would not change a thing. It is so exciting to hear that others want to do the same. We are 51 and 53. We leave in a few weeks to go to Montenegro, but we should have a few days in Corfu before we go.

This is our 3rd visit to Albania, and we will be back. We can only stay 90 days out of 180 days without a visa permit. This is a glorious country with the most lovely people as hosts! Albania IS GREAT.

Thanks! Glad you liked it! The bus is quite the experience. On the way back we had all sorts of antics, including someone puking because the driver was going so fast on curvy mountain roads, lol.

Our favourite part is from the fortress viewpoint overlooking the city. It is stunning.

Yeah we were lost for sure. In about 3 weeks we head to Montenegro. Still in Saranda, Albania.

@@conniecrew2585 we have been to Kotor before but only for a few days. We'll be there 6 weeks so we'll see a few things I'm sure. kasata is one of the best ice cream deserts in albania the best one is pasta akulli or parfait as they call it now. it is only good if it is done right by a knowledgeable cook

Berat is an Illyrian city, dated at least 5century bc. It’s the only city in Europe inhabited continuously, inside and outside the Castle.
