It's good to see that they're people that still care about the quality of sound. Back in the day when I was buying albums, I remember wanting the sound to be top notch. When listening to music on TH-cam, I might even sometimes listen on 5 different channels just to get the best sound possible.👍
Very well done review, thank you. I have the Legacy CD from Miles too, and it sounds very good, I think. My Birth-Of-The-Blue LP is coming the day after tomorrow. Then I'll compare both. I find your comparison of the two LPs and the Legacy CD very detailed and insightful. No other TH-camr has done that well.
I agree with this comment as I also have the Legacy CF and the 50th Anniversary (not the Basic Miles LP) and wondered how the new album compared to those CD releases. So thanks so much for sharing your opinion on those versions.
Sup Kenny! Man I love your reviews bro! Thank you for all you do bro! I’m 43 years old and I’m new to Jazz music! So this is all new information to me, thank you bro Kenny!
This is a fantastic album. I love the warmth and detail. On my system, I have to give the sound a 10 and the performances a 9. (Technics 1215GAE turntable, Hana ML cartridge, Devialet Expert Pro 220 integrated amp, Wilson Sabrina X speakers and REL Ti subwoofers). I don’t have any other versions of these great performances, so I really appreciate AP putting them out on one album. Thanks Kenny for a great review.
Thanks, Kenny for this review. Having read a few articles about this album before its release, I was very reticent about purchasing this recording. But your review has convinced me its worth the investment. Love the cover art!
Thank you Mr. Kenny, I sent you a link to a video about this previously! I am happy you were able to review so quickly! I am awaiting the arrival of the SACD! You’re the best, great content as always!
New subscriber here. I got my copy of Birth of the Blue three days ago and I've played several times since. I'm a novice when it comes to jazz but this has really blown me away. Thanks for the cool review. I did a short video on my channel as well.
I have it and listened to it. A very great album. But I don't agree with the bass. The bass is well done and there's no too much of it. Everything is great. Things like that are a matter of acoustics. Everyone has a different one. Great review. Keep it up. Greetings from Germany
Thank you very much for sharing your opinion. You are correct, it may be system equipment and room dependant. It also my be based on just a personal opinion in terms of how we listen to and perceive music. Thank you very much for watching from Germany 😊 ✌️
Hey Kenny and thanks for the detailed review. When you mentioned that the bass on this new issue is "deeper", did you mean "more pronounced"? It seems to me that deeper bass would not be a bad thing whereas over -produced or a comparatively unbalanced bass would be.
To me it's deeper or as you described more pronounced. It's fine with the exception it does not represent Bill Evans piano the way it should sound in my opinion
Nice review Kenny. I missed out on ordering this LP by a day or two so I hopefully will be notified when a new batch comes in. I did pull out Basic Miles and play two days ago after watching another vid reviewing Birth of the Blues and you are spot on. Basic Miles is lacking.
Hi Kenny, Great video! I am a BiG fan of Kind of Blue. It is my fav album ALL-Time. I want to get the new album but going to hold off until after the holiday.... U know money is funny around this time of year. But I can get the Sony Legacy CD and just order that. Thank you so much! For all the info and background. Happy Holidays and G-d Bless * Blessings
Nice! Thank you! Without a doubt a must-have for MD fans and shelve completists or for some it is just more „old wine in new pipes“ resp. an add-on by an overmarketed yet very talented musician but not true artist. Alternatively one could rather give more love and share of wallet to the upcoming high potential jazz musicians (some of which may become artists one day) and their ambitious small labels to support them in their careers and to make a decent living. Time to consider whose pockets to fill out there. Umpteen choices out there. Merry Christmas!
Kenny, I went back and listened to Kind of Blue legacy edition. I have it but have not heard it in a few years. I forgot just how much I enjoyed Bill Evan’s on Love for Sale!
Good review... Not too sure I want this, though. I have Basic Miles, which I never play. Also have 2 or 3 og's, a mofi, and the AP issue. Think I even have a cd. Also have that big blue box issue that you showed. So I have plenty. Would love to hear this, but again, not thinking I'll bite the bullet for this one.
I have the 2-CD Legacy set. The bass on that set is not as deep (intrusive?) as on the LP, allowing Evans piano to shine. You should do A/B comparison of the two sources and see if you notice a difference. That Legacy set is a bargain for under 20 bucks. You get all of the tracks from Kind Of Blue and Birth of the Blue plus a 17-minute live version of 'So What" and the sound is phenomenal. Thanks for the review!
That information about Bill evans and the sound of his piano on the LP vs the CD and the location of his piano on both sources was mentioned in the video. Thank you very much for your comments as always 😊 ✌️
I could be wrong, but I think that album is a repackaging of the old 58 Miles Sessions which was available in the late 80's early 90's on cd.. the Columbia Jazz Classics series.
I do not have the Mosaic set or the Jazz Tracks issue to compare the Analogue Productions issue with...but I my opinion, the Analogue Productions issue is definitely worth having for sure.
Got mine a few days ago and at first listen…I like it better than KOB! Shocking. It just moved me more. Maybe it’s the “newness”. I particularly liked Cannonball’s playing. Almost felt like “Somethin’ Else” part 1.
Hello kenny. thanks for this video. i always have a problem with this type of reissue. Making money (45 dollars for 4 tunes ...) with 4 songs already well edited and present in the edition of Kind of blue 50 anniversary, with a cover and a title copied from Birth of the cool and kind of blue, it's smart but not very honest. After, if people want to spend their money. On the other hand, you say that this edition is mastered from the analog masters. I'm not sure if this is true. If it's like for "Mofi", it's likely that the original soundtrack was copied to a digital file and was remastered/mixed to make the sound more"sexy" ...
Thank you very much for watching my video and taking the time to post your opinions. Analogue Productions does not use digital steps in their issues the overwhelming vast majority of the time. If they do, they are totally transparent about the process that they use.
It's good to see that they're people that still care about the quality of sound. Back in the day when I was buying albums, I remember wanting the sound to be top notch. When listening to music on TH-cam, I might even sometimes listen on 5 different channels just to get the best sound possible.👍
Thanks for the great detailed review of this amazing project.
I can't wait until I get my copy!!! 😎🙏🏾
The album is definitely worth having...I hope that you enjoy the album ✌️
Hey Kenny, nice thoughts. You are spot on, the echo of the trumpet from side to side is awesome. Cheers. Felipe
Thank you very much Felipe for your comments. I enjoyed watching your video on this album l.

Thanks, Kenny for this review. Having read a few articles about this album before its release, I was very reticent about purchasing this recording. But your review has convinced me its worth the investment. Love the cover art!
Analogue Productions did a great job with the cover and total presentation of the album overall. In my opinion it worth having.

I see Amazon is shipping the CD of this album in early January, ‘25. Gee, until now I thought my Miles Davis collection was complete!
Kenny, I went back and listened to Kind of Blue legacy edition. I have it but have not heard it in a few years. I forgot just how much I enjoyed Bill Evan’s on Love for Sale!
He was great on that song 👏 🎶
Good review...
Not too sure I want this, though.

👏 👏 👏...great stereo setup 👌 👍 👏
Basic Miles sounds old and flat.
