It's only if you startle them, that they'll attack of bluff charge, and at the most, they'll mame you, and leave. The problem is, this guy had a dog with him, which changes all the variables, and makes it much more dangerous. I fear black bears more than other bears because they are smaller, but much more aggressive if you encroach on their territory. I also have Polar Bears just a few hours North of where I live now.
