Not really. But sure, go and please Nintendo when you pay $50 for an overpriced copy of Super Mario Bros. They probably will sell it to you again with their next console for $20! This thing is unnecessary! Used to love Nintendo but the company's been a huge letdown lately.
@@zonic3009 I brought it because I love the history and it has huge potential to play tons of roms. I can also carry it around with me to play Mario, which i’ll actually be doing when mine arrives tomorrow. It’s a cute little collectors item, it’s obviously not designed to appeal to everyone.

Both aren’t really made to be played much. If you want to play classic games, for $50 there actually are a lot of very good emulation consoles.
One neat trick in both Mario Bros games. If you hold down the A button for a few seconds on the title screen you will start the game with infinite lives!

Noting here that this doesn't work in the SMAS versions, for those of us who have that; the world select function was also removed from the title screen of the game because such can be done before entering the save file. SMAS is essentially a GUI for four/five games (five if you have the SMAS cart with the watered-down version of SMW).

We live in amazing times because this piece of video game tech is very advance compare to the old Game & Watch of the 1980's. It has three games,it can sing to the owner, check time, has colors raging from classic black and white to vibrant colors,you can charge the game without replacing it with button batteries,etc. Way to go Amazing "Nintendo GAME & WATCH: SUPER MARIO BROS" you bring happiness to my life!!!

Nintendo learned their lesson from the NES classic and the Wii. Remember when they flooded retailers with the SNES classic and recently the Mario 3D All Stars and Animal Crossing Switch?

You are wrong! That device is unique, i have some little portable gaming consoles RG350 M and one with Pandoras Box portable they have both more games thats clear. But the Game and watch is great. It is really thin light weight have a great bright an clear screen loud sound for that little size. It is more portable than others. And great quality. If you had in your hands you don‘t believe how good it is. And the other devices are more expensive. If you are a mario fan it is a must have!

@@Khetamine It can. If you play a game on it and switch to the clock, the game will be saved. You can also switch from Mario Bros to Ball and the progress will be saved. It CAN quick save!
Running other classic systems on it would be fun, but I'm hoping to play all the other G&W games that use the same control layout :D
This should have included at least a few of the Game and Watch LCD games (Donkey Kong Jr, Mario cement factory, Mario bros, Zelda etc) in order to justify the price. Paying 50 $ for Super Mario Bros on the NES isn't the best deal.

Yeah wtf. First sega dropped the ball on the game gear micro and now this...jesus. I love it honestly but it's not worth it which is a shame as it wouldnt take much to sway and make me feel like it is worth it.

This was a pretty solid system. I just wish they added a bunch of other game and watch games. Not like there's a shortage of them that don't take advantage of the button layout. Fingers crossed they release a game and watch collection in this manner.

Hot damn, I'd love to have one of these, even if it just has the three games. Also, Ball is a really good game for pattern recognition and I recommend it to parents of children with learning disabilities; don't knock it because it seems simple (it is on the surface but in practice it most certainly is anything but).
If anything, I'd love to see a fully digitized library of Game & Watch games all in one device, but as some of them have different layouts, that would require actually manufacturing the device to handle all of that.
Y'all. The first one was $20 in 1983.if you adjust for inflation, that's $52 and change. So it isn't expensive, *especially* when you factor in how SMB is much more complicated than any hand-held could imagine back in the day.
The irony you tell us this is the device for all our "popout" needs when we are struggling on the porcelain thrown, when in actuallity I'm using this video for such purposes, lol.

According to Nintendo , these are limited editions and they say they will be sold till March 2021 but the catch is they also said " WHILE SUPPLIES LAST " I doubt there will be any to be had past January , optimistically.
Some merchants are selling at a high price because they know this item has limited production

I just bought one nearly 8 months after launch. Got mine online through Best Buy brand new. Feels so good to be able to buy a Nintendo product that's not scalped to oblivion!
This is something that back when I was a kid via the 80's I would've somewhat killed for but we just didn't have that kind of technology back in that?! A dream come true?! Yeah but I've seen and played this all too much now.. Very nice but I'm going continue to try and secure a copy of Oil Panic and Space Revenger sigh...Still pretty neat.
I ordered mine from Target and I got the ship notice about an hour later. I can't wait to get my copy. I have a feeling Nintendo's planning to make sure there's enough that everyone who wants one can get it. I didn't see it myself, but I heard some of the preorders sold out, only to have more preorders open up a short time later (possibly an anti-scalper tactic on retailers' part?), and they're going to keep producing these units until the end of March.

If you want to save your battery I heard leave it at 40% and then you can open it up and disconnect the battery and it will still work if you plug it into the usbc charge. So you can use it as a clock and it won't shut off due to inactivity and will save battery let me know if you can keep it on the charger with battery connected to usb c charge so you can use clock feature all the time
I wonder how long before these all get sold out and resellers are going to have these for 3 times the price once Nintendo stops making them like the NES/SNES classic.

What’s cool about this is that I can see it being a precursor to a GameBoy classic or whatever. Nintendo could just as easily come out with a flat GameBoy micro preloaded with some of their best selling GBA games and it would be an absolute hit. I hope Nintendo understand that and I hope we’ll get it eventually.

I received mine today in the UK and am very pleased with it. Screen and overall presentation is amazing. Like you mentioned hoping the hacking scene will develop something so that we have access to most of the popular two button systems like nes and gameboy as well as the possibility of all the game and watch games as well.... No the usb is only connected to the battery unfortunately. It transfers no data to the actual system at all. You’d have to crack the system open and manually change things. Don’t ask me for the details past this, I just know it’s hard to do.

I got 2, 1 to play with and 1 to collect dust. Hopefully this will be hacked soon and make it a true Mario anniversary collection with DK, DKjr, SMB 1 ,2 ,2 US, and 3. Also calling it now next year for Zelda's 35th, we'll be getting a Zelda G&W too.
