      @@brandonh.6654 is it just me, or do you not get the original comment??? We all know that fans do not blow towards the center, per sé, as what he was referring to 1 side of the fan being the hub...meaning, that if you had the hub facing one direction, it would pull air in, and facing the other way, pushing it out... My comment was based on the fact that if hub means center or middle, in common tounge, then is he talking center of the blades on the central column, or the center of the framework on the one side that the fan is usually screwed or glued to...

    Both systems will very quickly reach a steady state where there is just as much air flowing into the case as is flowing out. Higher pressure inside means more air molecules to carry heat away. Less dust will depend on having filters at air ingress points--you usually have an easier time filtering a positive pressure system.

    • @SuperQBoi

      i have the r4 define. it is housing my 3rd build using that case (good brand and case design, last me all those builds/years). Currently I have dual 140 in on the filtered front and a single 120 in on the filtered bottom (near the front). the only fan i have that goes out is in the back. the rear fan btw isn't even a case fan, it is the fan/rad combo from water cooled fury X gpu. instead of mounting it on top i left the top closed and replaced the single rear fan with it's rad. max gaming the gpu will spin to about 1/3 speed and run 60C (& that's with it pulling the already warm air from inside the case) so thier is no need at all to open the top vents up at all unless you were using a custom loop that had separate rads for the cpu and gpu.

    What if you have your exhaust fans spinning slower than your intake fans, especially when you have more exhaust fans than intake fans? What would that cause as far as dust and thermals goes?

    • @dominickyoung5333
      @dominickyoung5333 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spinning speed (AKA RPM) is almost irrelevant. Airflow of the fans is what matters, so it depends on the fans. Number of intake/exhaust fans would also be required to answer this. If the exhaust are stock fans which came with the case and only flow 30CFM, but the intake fans are good aftermarket fans which flow 50-90CFM each... So anybody who could help you would need more info than what you stated. I'm guessing you think you have 3 exhaust & 2 intake? 1 rear exhaust & 2 top? Are the 2 intake both at the front? Do you also have a side intake, or are you using the side as your 3rd exhaust (supposed to be an intake to directly help cool your GPU, by the way)? Also, what is your goal? This video perfectly proved what I have told people for years. If you want better cooling, you want a negative pressure. If you want to clean your PC less frequently by keeping dust out better, then you want positive pressure. So which would you prefer? I'm guessing you want positive pressure, based on your question. So if you are using your side intake fan as an exhaust fan, make it an intake fan. Anything beyond that will require the info I said above.

    • @daviddebroux4708
      @daviddebroux4708 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess my question was rather simple in comparison to specific situations, but yeah, that was mainly the question was if you had more fans pushing out less air than the fewer fans pushing in more air, what would the result be?
      If you have to probe me about what my situation is, my computer is set up so I have two 140mm fans on the front (the bottom is a SP fan where the hard drive cage is) as intake fans, three 140mm fans on top acting as exhaust (though I intend them to not spin as fast, therefore not always blowing out so much air), a rear 120mm fan as an obvious exhaust, and another 120mm fan on the bottom acting as an intake fan, so it sort of implements convectional cooling. All of these are Corsair case fans, and all but the latter SP fan I mentioned just for the hard drive cage are air flow case fans, all plugged into a manual fan controller; there are seven case fans in total, and one out of the seven is a static pressure fan. I use the fan controller so I can independently control all of the case fans, which a few are being controlled in pairs by fan splitter cables I also bought in conjunction with it, so the front intake, the first two on the top, and then the last two from top to rear are independently controlled in pairs, whereas the bottom intake fan is the only one that is actually independently controlled by the fan controller, possibly giving all the power in one cable vs. a splitter cable, which the bottom one would be louder than the last pair of fans (rear top and rear exhaust).
      For case reference: I am using a Thermaltake Core V41 ATX Mid-tower case. (Ironically, it is very tall and wide for a typical Mid-tower case, primarily designed to be very liquid cooling friendly.)
      What would _you_ say on the matter, with all of that being said?

    • @Ephem13
      @Ephem13 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you are shooting for positive pressure the hard way, it doesn't have to be that complicated. I would of opted for just keeping one more intake fan than exhaust. I also always scrap stock fans and go for nice SP fans to simplify things.

    Good vid, best in this area. Only thing I'd add for those who didn't quite get the direction of air thru a fan, usually (about 90% or more) the part of the fan that has the UL, voltage info is the EXHAUST side (i.e. air will be coming out that side). Air will be sucked in on the opposite side.
    A lot of fans, even the pricey ones, don't always have arrows indicating which way the air flows.

      Remywoof Smoke from cigarettes is actually way worse than Vapor from a fog machine, the smoke is sticky and disgusting, and even a little of it ends up jamming fans and heatsinks. Not good for airflow.

    Air is transparent not invisible, no? Invisible means that light does not interact at all with the object so there is no way of determining where the object is, but transparent means that light can pass through but can be refracted by changes in refractive index, and light does get refracted by transitioning into air, like if you shone a light underwater, it would be refracted at the surface, being slightly bent.

    PC Problem!!
    So I bought parts and built myself a PC, Specs:
    Mobo: Gigabyte F2A78M-D3H
    CPU: AMD Athlons X4 860K
    RAM: HyperX Fury 8GB 1600MHz
    Graphics: Asus R7 260X 2GB OC
    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM
    PSU: Cooler Master B500 ver.2 500W
    Problem:
    So the PC was running for 3 days just fine, playing BF3 and doing web surfing. Then a few days ago it just died completly. Now everytime I try to turn it on I have no video output or anything, nothing starts up except the fans.
    I made sure to keep myself clear from static electricity by touching the case everytime I was about to touch something.
    And the CPU dropped in without any pressure what so ever on the first attempt so unless pins can be bent when its in the socket they should be fine.
    Ive tried a new PSU (600W), a new graphics card aswell as all the ram slots and with different ram without any difference.
    I also tried to boot without any ram inserted but I didnt get any beep codes.
    Is it the motherboard thats the broken piece, im leaning towards the motherboard but some say it might be the CPU.. any suggestions??
    Any help appriciated!

      WikHellfire - PlaystationShare well, if the fans are working its probably not the motherboard... i would say its the CPU but i do want to know, which case were you using and were you using any extra fans? did you OC at all? did the computer feel at all like its over-heating?

    • @1MadBurrito

      WTF Google+ do you think this is a normal usermame? whats wrong with you?!
      1st case was a Fractal Design Core 1100 with the included fan, 2nd case is the In Win 703 with the included fans.
      No overclocking, and I dont think it have been overheating, tried to keep an eye on temps and they didnt seem to go too high.
