The mod could be good for those that own an older Starlight or if they have click issues and are wanting a 4khz mouse with Finalmouse Starlight shape. I've read a lot of issues in the Finalmouse Discord and their response "solder new encoder" or "solder new switches"
In 10 years from now you'll probably be hard pressed to find a PCB for the starlight 12 if the entire mouse and not just the switches kick the bucket, but you'll probably find a bunch of viper v2 pros for the next 20 years. So from a repair pov, this is something ide get for future proofing if the shape was your god shape.
I dont see the kit anywhere for sale now, just the 3d printed base file being available on Cults does this still include all the files needed to do this?
After a while Crafted mice decided to sell the files. Those are a bit different than the video. You might need double sided tape and aluminium foil tape. Side cutters to modify shell.
Hi Kyle, amazing video. I have a few question wish you could answer : 1) Is it ok to use the battery from the finalmouse starlight? 2) Whats the final weight of the mouse? 3) It seems like theres some gap between the shell and the base, does the shell flex if you deathgrip it?
1)The battery from the Finalmouse could have a different connector. The pin out could be the wrong order which could either; do nothing, cause a short or start a fire. 2) I don't know the final weight but it is fairly close to stock I believe. 3) I guess if you death grip but who does that? the texture on the bottom looks like it might scratch up against the mousepad and cause friction, would you recommend sanding that down with a wheatstone or would that hurt the bottom shell structure?
The base is already quite flat and Crafted Mice has created "false holes" So there are thin sections that could become holes if you sand. It shouldn't cause any issues with the pad. Follow up in Crafted Mice Discord where it will be available. linktr.ee/craftedmice

you are buying finalmouse because of the shape, weight and looks. their tech isnt the best so people do mods like this so you can actually use a top tier tech in a different shape and lighter
A lot of Finalmouse mice have developed encoder/scroll issues and double clicking switches. This mod will give you a fully working mouse but 4khz polling and optical switches so it should be more durable. People love the shape of the mouse and the magnesium metal shell.

The mod uses Razer Viper V2 Pro Internals and Crafted Mice has coloured scroll rings that you could buy.
