Great shots - especially dig the indoor stuff. I’ve got a 6x7 with spacing issues and a pretty solid 67. Looks like the 67II is a pretty nice upgrade.

Hello Alex, very good review! I am the owner of the 67II. Back when the camera was available, you could have 67II modified by Pentax service for "custom functions"
My 67II was modified, and I can see an aperture F-stops. Here is the information from the manual:
    Custom Function
The Pentax 67II offers “Custom Functions” to modify the camera’s operation to suit personal
preferences. Modifications are made at a Pentax service center (at some charge).
Please consult your local Pentax service center for details.
    (1) 1/2 EV Shutter-speed settings
Shutter speeds can be divided into 1/2 EV steps.
    (2) Metering timer duration
The 10-second metering timer can be changed to 5, 20 or 30 seconds. In memory lock mode, the
timer is changed from initial 20 seconds to 10, 40, or 60 seconds.
    (3) F-number indication in the viewfinder display
The selected aperture is displayed in the viewfinder LCD indicator instead of the exposure frame
number. This Custom Function is available only when a lens with automatic diagram control is
    mounted.
    (4) Installment of an additional strap lug
An additional strap lug is installed next to the grip for the horizontal positioning of the camera.
    Thanks again Alex!

Excellent review Alex! I've been fortunate enough to shoot both with the Asahi Pentax 6x7 and the Pentax 67II and I agree with you, the 67II offers the best ergonomics and it generally more easy to use that its older brother. My most used lenses are the 45mm f/4.0 and the 105mm f/2.4. I find that I use it mostly with black&white film both because of the look and the fact that I develop black&white myself. I shoot slide film specifically when I want crisp 6x7 colour scans bus as I own only a 6x4.5/6x6 slide projector I sadly cannot project them. So slide film usually goes in the Pentax 645 and black&white in the Pentax 67II. By the way, those lovely Pentax 67 lenses work great on a Pentax 645 provided you have the Pentax 67 to 645 adapter but that might be another story.

Oh I half knew about the 67 to 645 adapter! Those optics would sing on the smaller camera! Thanks for watching 🍻

This or a HASSY 500CM? Hmmmmm. Awesome video. I like this format a bit better than the HASSY as the HASSY NEGATIVE is so square and i prefer shooting more LANDSCAPE style.

Cool review, Alex! I find it pretty funny that Pentax essentially gave up on making this camera comfortable to shoot in portrait orientation (since there's no vertical grip or rotating back a la Mamiya) 😂

    • @AlexLuyckxPhoto
      @AlexLuyckxPhoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes! This is not a good camera for portrait orientation! Thanks for watching 🍻

75mm f2.8 AL is the best wide-angle lens

I had to look that one up, it does look like an excellent choice. However it just isn’t wide enough for my tastes! I’ll stick to the 55mm. Thanks for watching 🍻

I would love to have one of these but, as you said, they are wickedly expensive. Even the most expensive car I've owned is cheap compared to one of these cameras.

Oh yeah the cost is what’s keeping it out of my collection (also space)! Thanks for watching 🍻

While I have lusted after one of these beasts I’ve never actually shot one. I do have the Mamiya RB67 and it is a great system at way less cost if you want 6x7. The interchangeable film backs are nice and add lots more versatility to the system. Not needing batteries is another plus. Still if someone could see fit to send a 67 II my way I guess I’d use it.

Oh yes I would love to have an RB67 system, probably far more versitile than the 67ii especially in cold Canadian winters! But I also would not say no to a 67ii kit! Thanks for watching 🍻

The 45mm f4 and the W.L. makes the camera the lightest!

I have the 67, with the 105/2.5 and 250mm lenses. No metered prism, no problem because I use unmetered MF folders, so my routine is unchanged. Mine didn't come with the wooden accessory grip, so I use a MF accessory flash arm instead. A friend sold me the kit for $300. It was her father's camera and I think she wanted it to go to someone who would use and appreciate it, and I DO. Thanks, Marsha!
