Great video! As a note for those handling larger tires filled with ballast, this works well for re-mounting: (1) roll the tire onto a 2x6 and lean it against the lugs (2) rotate the axle by hand, to align the lugs with the holes (use chocks on the front wheels as in this video, so you can have the parking brake off), (3) with the tire tilted against the top lugs, raise or lower the back end with the jack, so that the top two lugs drop into the holes, (4) put nuts on the top two lugs to the extent that you can, to keep the wheel from coming off when you raise the back end further, (5) with the nuts in place, raise the back end until the remaining holes slide over the lugs. This worked well for me on the L2501. For one wheel, I had removed all of the ballast because I was afraid I couldn't handle a 400 pound wheel (the ballast was about 250 pounds of the 400). What a project it was to pump all of that fluid out, and then replace it after putting the spacers on. So on the second wheel, I tried the method above and it was so easy. Get some help if you can (I did this myself as an old dude), and make sure to keep that wheel vertical when you are handling it.
Hi, Courtney - love your videos - I've learned a lot from you and just purchased my first tractor at the age of 70. I was getting ready to order some BORA spacers, and took the time to read their "Terms and Conditions". With my Rimguard filled 36" tires, I would have to schedule someone to help with the installation, probably on the weekend. But BORA doesn't allow for this: • TIME LIMIT FOR REPORTING PROBLEMS - Any and all complaints, problems, issues, missing parts or components, etc., if any, MUST be reported to MOTORSPORT TECH within 48 hours after Customer accepts delivery of merchandise. After 48 hours, all problems and issues, except for warranty issues, are the Customer's responsibility. Also, installing the spacers with help from a friend automatically voids the warranty: • INSTALLATION - All installations shall be performed by a licensed professional mechanic or by a professional wheel or tire store in order for our Limited Lifetime Warranty to be applicable. I guess I'll hold off on ordering under these conditions. Rick.
Purchased 6" steel set of these wheel spacers for my 3720 John Deere last summer. Used your discount code. (THANKS) This tractor is used on my small farm and our golf course. Everyone says these are true life savers on the Tractor. I had bugged John Deere for years on a solution with no help. We have rolling hills here in southern Indiana and these tractor are unsafe with these spacer. I installed on front and rear wheels with no issues.
I have to agree that this is the best upgrade to do first on a tractor. This is speaking from experience since I did not do it for the first year of owning a BX23S and having a few "tipsy" moments. I installed the 2" spacers and it does feel more planted now on side hills. Anti-sieze should be used on all the bolts and nuts during installation. It allows for more accurate torque settings, compression of the wheel rim and spacer, and more accurate stretch of the studs. Great video!!
One of your most useful videos as stability is a real safety issue for me where I am in Scotland. I'm about to purchase a new 2026R and hope my local JD dealer can get similar wheel spacers. Accessories are not always a strong point with UK dealers. Thank you for your excellent GW Tractor series 👍
If those are stainless bolts a little bit of anti seize is recommended/ necessary because stainless is easily gulled. Seen it plenty of times at the chemical plants I've worked at.
you can get to the inner bolts to retighten after a few hours by taking the wheels off the spacers. reinstall the wheels and check and retighten the wheels after a few hours as the manual suggests. happy tractering. I have a 2003 john deere 4310, never had a repair with 1500 hours and hard work plowing snow in maine. I have chains on all 4 wheels to plow up a big hill.
I did wheel spacers on my zero turn that I use on slopes, it really provides more stability. Also, I use brushless impact drivers for my loosening and spinning the lug nuts. I still start them by hand and occasionally, i need the 4 way lug wrench to loosen but the impact driver really speeds the process. And yes, I torque the final quarter turn.
I have the 1025R. What is the tip angle vs. wheel spacer width? Has anyone published a comparison? How much is tip angle improved per width increase? What do you gain stability wise by going from 1" to 2" to 4" to 6"? What will wheel weights do for tip angle that spacers can or can't do better? Is there a chart that will show the advantage of width vs. tip angle?
Thank you for making these videos. I work on cars a lot and live in salted area. When I do anything with wheel hub surfaces, I use thin layer of antiseize on the mating surfaces. If you work with BORA closely, I think they can leave little more material on the center of the hub flange by not drilling out the center all the way through in same diameter. Center hub off of the axle only protrude so much. It only has to be drilled out as such on the spacer and leave material for the spacer. In fact it does not need to have a hole in the middle through and through. Just need enough hole cut out for the hub to seat. It will keep junk out of the space and make the spacer stronger.
I just watched your video in the installation of the BORA wheel spacers on your 1025R and found it very well done. It looks easy and I have all of the torque wrenches and specs to do it correctly. That's when I got onto the order page and was about to order a pair of 4" spacers for the rears of my L3901. Before I hit the order button I noticed that there was a box that I had to check. It said "Please check this box to confirm that you have read and accept Motorsport Tech's TERMS AND CONDITIONS, and that you have read, understand, and agree to abide by our INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS." Well... I'd read the installation instructions and they were about like you showed on the video but then I read the deal breaker : "• INSTALLATION - All installations shall be performed by a licensed professional mechanic or by a professional wheel or tire store in order for our Limited Lifetime Warranty to be applicable." I live 30 miles from the nearest Lic. Pro mechanic or Pro Tire tire store and have no trailer to get my tractor there. That means that if I buy and install them myself and anything happens to them I'm SOL. That's over $500 out the window. Are you a Pro mechanic? Being sponsored by BORA I imagine that they would fix/replace the product(s) for free for you... but not for me. I noticed that you made no mention of that in the video. Buyer beware, I guess.
I put 3" spacers on my T554 TYM. I chose steel. You would have had a rough time picking one of the steel ones up the same way you picked up that aluminum one with one hand for your 4066R. What a HUGE difference in stability! Great video. Thanks! I went BORA becuase of you! EXCELLLENT comoany to do business with. They are busy ...
I put aside on the front of my 2305 but I bought them three summit racing I use them on the front because I didn't have room enough for my tire chains between the tie rod and the tire put my tire chains on and tried to rip my tire rods off so I've had them on there for 4 or 5 years and I love them
As with any wheel, you should tighten the nuts or bolts down in three stages instead of tightening down to full torque on the first try. Also on a 5 bolt pattern you should go around in a circle and torque every other bolt instead of tightening the one right next to the one that was just tightened. I would use thread locker on the inner bolts. Keep up the great videos!
Pro tip: If you watch a video at 1.25x or 1.5x speed, you can watch 2 on your lunch break. I also was tired of looking at the odd amount contributed to your ministry so I kicked in some. Thank you for all that you do.
Hi Courtney, I like using a 4-way cross style lug wrench. Although as I recall the 1025R lug bolts have a small head. Also, using anti-seize or white grease on the bolts, helps as well.
For anybody wondering, I have BORA 2" spacers on my 2025R, which allows plenty of space for the Mid Mount Mower, and it also doesn't stick out beyond the 54" bucket, which is nice since I use it for heavy snow removal.
@@BillyP55 Oh yeah! I meant to say that. Yes, I have the 60" mower deck with a 2019 2025R. BORA should also be able to answer any questions if you have a different year or model, but if you have a recent 2025R then you should be good :).
I purchased a set Bora 2 inch spacers for my John Deere 2038r. They are different from the ones you had on your video. I do not have two of the threaded one. Is there any way different to install my spacers from the ones on the video.
I just received my spacers for a 1025R and just like you, the spacers are different from the video. I have 5 bolts sticking out and it was not mentioned that I had to buy the lug nuts separately when I placed the order. Little weird.
Because the inter bolts are not accessible I'd most likely use Lock-tite on the inter bolts. A little insurance it was troubling to see your inter bolts lose. Thanks for all the high quality videos! 👍
Yeah, BORA's instructions specifically state not to use Lock-tite. I agree, a little worrisome on the bolts being loose, but that's also why the manual says to check them so frequently!
I just bought my first tractor ( Kioti 3510SE), so consequently I am ignorant about some of the tractor things. Why do they use bolts instead of studs on wheels hubs?
Yeah, it did seem that the parking brake worked pretty well the second time. I think two people is the best solution from start to finish, but shows at least one person can get it done. Thanks for watching!
After watching your video I ordered a set of Borla 2 1/2" aluminum wheel spacers for my 2038R, in reading the instructions in that came with the spacers it is saying that you are to use the provided hardware (studs) to install the spacers to the hub/vehicle, and use the stock studs to install wheels to the adapters, which is opposite of your installation video.
What's the widest you can go on a BX and not have issues with a mower? I've been messing around in the snow in my yard and want to get 3" spacers on each side I think if they will work with my 60" belly mower.
On my 2020 2038r John Deere I had to use the studs that was for my rim on my rim and the hardware that came with it I had to use to bolt the spacer to the hub because my studs for my wheel were larger than the studs for the spacer and I could not fit a socket for the studs that were for my wheel there was not enough space in the holes for the spacer to fit a socket in between
@@GoodWorksTractors the only difference between the hardware and my wheel studs was that the hardware had smaller heads than my wheel studs thread on both was same
I looking for new or used to plow my drive way, start with the basic one that has the snow blower and cheap one so I can affort to buy one... let me know
I ordered some bora 2 1/2" spacers for my b2601 a couple of weeks ago thanks to your advice. Their website was down at the time so I wasn't able to use your link, but I'll be sure to tell them you pointed me in that direction.
Good question. I think it's best just to do the rears. The rear axle is rigid, however the front axle pivots. So, it will lean left or right with or without spacers.
I worked in the offshore oil and gas business for a good portion of my career. I think some zink-based anti-seize compound might help you with both reassembly and the next time you need to remove the wheels. Just my 2 cents worth.
Just received my wheel spacers for my JD 2032R. The wheel spacers came with 12mm diameter bolts instead of 14mm diameter bolts that are currently on my tractor tire. I could install the spacer to the wheel hub using the original 14mm bolts that came with the tire, but then I would have to use the smaller 12mm bolt to attach the tire wheel to the spacer. Does not seem right to me. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve got a 3038e. Knowing they come 1.5-6”, what size spacer would you suggest? I’ve been looking into purchasing spacers for months but haven’t taken the time to actually do it.
Fun video and I was curious to see you do this with your channel lock's...You borrowed your Mom's Ratchet and torque wrench didn't you? 😊 You can clean the wheels and tape the tire at the rim and you can paint those wheels quick when you get a chance, you will not have to take them off...Do not want them to rust.
You should take the tires and wheels off to check the torque of the wheel spacers at the intervals specified in your manual. When running duals you should do the same thing. God bless you and your family!
I didn't read all the comments this time due to some weekend projects, but I do agree with son that spacers are more practical solution than duals I really think the best solution for duals to go the Ventrac route. Of course, it's a completely different animal than the conventional compact and subcompact tractor. Once again, it really depends on what your needs are, before a subcompact tractor or a small compact, I do think the Bora wheel spacers are the best solution for added stability.
ps Star-pattern is Critical when tightening in order to even out the pressure across the mating surface... which is why bolts loosen, and why the need for Loctite. Also, weve made a 18 in steel bar w two holes drilled to match the outer bolt spacing - lightly fasten in place to prevent wheel from turning when tightening inner spacer bolts. Cheers
I just received the Bora spacers 2” thick for my 1025R and it said that all the hardware was included. Well, it seems like you actually have to order the lug nuts as well (separately). And when you go on the motorsport tech website, they don’t tell you which closed end nut would fit for your specific order.
Putting heavy tires and wheels on is a one-man job. To make it easy lay a 2x4 on the ground parallel with the front of the axle, roll the tire up to the 2x4 so it's close to alignment with your studs or hub. Then use a pry bar or a 3 foot 2x4 on the back of the tire and slip it right up on. let leverage work for you
get a 4-way or an impact wrench. how much does that extra length effect the axle? like is it more likely to break with the duals on there? what about with the spacer+ duals? seems like possibly the duals might have had enough torque to stretch those lug bolts and they were hand loose after that. idk, just possible observations. thread locker maybe?
So you only need to put spacers on the rear wheels?? I have a John Deere 3038e, so I'm curious if I only need rear spacers, and I was thinking 2 inch spacers would be good.
Very interested to hear if you notice a difference in stability using your FEL. These seem a little more practical but the duals looked really badass lol.
This video just showed up on my TH-cam page for the first time in a long time and I'm glad it did. I would like to put these spacers on my 1025r but there is no clearance for the mower deck. Is your 1025r somehow different from mine? Are you able to use your mower deck with the spacers installed?
Love your videos….I’m getting my first Deere tractor next week! 1025R…..I have their GX255 and X590 (590 is trade in for 1025R but keeping the 255GX, it’s such a sweet running mulched)…..so…question……what was the total increase in overall tractor width after the spacers? It looked like you mounted the shallow rim side in as well, correct? I would like the extra footprint for stability without going crazy. Gotta get some steps, mirrors, …all kinds of stuff. So will be contacting you from the other side of the lake!! I’m 50 miles west of Chicago. Thanks again.
Two questions, I have a 3025e, what spacing would you recommend as a middle of the road? Second, if these work well (I don’t doubt they do), why would they not install or design wheels to have this offset from the factory?
Another great and informed video. I was thinking on some sort of wheel spacing for my 1025r and this is spot on. Will these work with mower deck? . I think you said they would. Let me know what you come up with on that . Thanks and have a good one and be safe. Tim
Great video - I have looked at these several times - I have a new Kubota MX 6000, do you for see any issues with the added stress on the axle? Do you hear any talk if this would void the tractors warranty if you did have an axle issue? As always thanks for the videos.
I'm sure there's some added stress, but I also think there's plenty of margin built into the design. Tractors have been running spacers for a long, long time withvery few issues.
Hello sir I wonder if you may could talk to BORA and see if they maybe could do one of two things. 1 give longer bolts to bolt the spacer to the hub that way if it does back off it will hit the wheel and some threads will still be in the hub 2 still have a long bolt but make a recessed lip so that if the bolt backs out it only can go so far? Just a couple thoughts since there is a slight chance in the bolts backing off. I’m sure they wouldn’t fall out or anything but would make you feel a bit more at ease? Anyway just a thought. Thank ya for the vid!
Thanks. Yeah, I mentioned that in the video at one point. Some guys mentioned adding a small amount of thread lock. Manual does state not to Lock Tite though.
@@GoodWorksTractors my best guess is open differential, the other wheel was probably spinning the opposite direction. then when you put the other wheel on the ground it had enough resistance to torque. as well didn't your tractor have a parking brake issue (out of adjustment or Light pressure) I remember it rolling down your front yard.
Great job. Love the videos. One day I’ll slide over by the shop and say hello. Also one day I’ll own a real tractor. Haha One question, do people put them on the front too? Any benefits?
You lost me right between cleaning the hub and mounting the spacer. My application will be for a JDZ225 4x4” hub, whose threaded studs mount through the back of the hub, exposing about an inch&1/2 of threads to mount wheel to. Your example showed spacer completely covering hub, and bolts going into the recesses of the spacer, which I’m assuming thread into front side of hub? Ironically that’s what I searched out your video to see, as well as to see if I’ll need to change stud lengths to not interfere with wheel then being mounted to the spacer. Good quality video, but unfortunately my questions are still unanswered.
Since you were taking the wheel off anyway, wouldn’t it have been easier to just take the wheel off first in order to pull the bolts out? Not sure if they have to come out first for a reason or not.

It maybe do to that I do not have a 1025R.
An impact wrench would speed things up!
Thanks for the information. I have ordered from BORA to fit my B2601.
good video, would absolutely add a dewalt impact to your dewalt tool set. makes projects like this 1/3 of a pain in the butt.
If you use anti seize on your studs and bolts, you will eliminate trouble next time when you need to take things apart .
What's the widest you can go on a BX and not have issues with a mower? I've been messing around in the snow in my yard and want to get 3" spacers on each side I think if they will work with my 60" belly mower.
On my 2020 2038r John Deere I had to use the studs that was for my rim on my rim and the hardware that came with it I had to use to bolt the spacer to the hub because my studs for my wheel were larger than the studs for the spacer and I could not fit a socket for the studs that were for my wheel there was not enough space in the holes for the spacer to fit a socket in between
Spacers from BORA?
@@GoodWorksTractors yes
@@GoodWorksTractors the only difference between the hardware and my wheel studs was that the hardware had smaller heads than my wheel studs thread on both was same
Nicely done!
I looking for new or used to plow my drive way, start with the basic one that has the snow blower and cheap one so I can affort to buy one... let me know
Long bolts flex plus never seize is a good idea. Bob
Thanks!
I ordered some 4 plus months ago and am still waiting. Fing Brandon !
I ordered some bora 2 1/2" spacers for my b2601 a couple of weeks ago thanks to your advice. Their website was down at the time so I wasn't able to use your link, but I'll be sure to tell them you pointed me in that direction.
Awesome, hope you enjoy them! Thanks for following along!
Will the mmm fit with those spacers now?
I gotta dig out the mower and check. I hope so.
@@GoodWorksTractors this is important information for a lot of us to know
Thank you for the detailed video. Do you think it is necessary to widen the front to match the rear?
Good question. I think it's best just to do the rears. The rear axle is rigid, however the front axle pivots. So, it will lean left or right with or without spacers.
I worked in the offshore oil and gas business for a good portion of my career. I think some zink-based anti-seize compound might help you with both reassembly and the next time you need to remove the wheels. Just my 2 cents worth.
Thank you for the tip!
Typically 2-3" is the best bet.
@@GoodWorksTractors thank you!
I've got the same tractor, I was curious about this also. And I'm assuming you put spacers on rear wheels only.
Fun video and I was curious to see you do this with your channel lock's...You borrowed your Mom's Ratchet and torque wrench didn't you? 😊
You can clean the wheels and tape the tire at the rim and you can paint those wheels quick when you get a chance, you will not have to take them off...Do not want them to rust.
Haha I borrowed my daughter's 😂
You should take the tires and wheels off to check the torque of the wheel spacers at the intervals specified in your manual. When running duals you should do the same thing.
God bless you and your family!
I didn't read all the comments this time due to some weekend projects, but I do agree with son that spacers are more practical solution than duals I really think the best solution for duals to go the Ventrac route. Of course, it's a completely different animal than the conventional compact and subcompact tractor. Once again, it really depends on what your needs are, before a subcompact tractor or a small compact, I do think the Bora wheel spacers are the best solution for added stability.
what is your opinion on adding front wheel spacers at the same time?
Will those spacers exceed the width of a 2 series 54" snowblower? Anti seize compound ia awesome on lugs
Just curious what’s the outside width of the tires now the spacers are installed?
ps Star-pattern is Critical when tightening in order to even out the pressure across the mating surface... which is why bolts loosen, and why the need for Loctite. Also, weve made a 18 in steel bar w two holes drilled to match the outer bolt spacing - lightly fasten in place to prevent wheel from turning when tightening inner spacer bolts. Cheers
Is there any information on how much the spacers affect the turning radius?
I just received the Bora spacers 2” thick for my 1025R and it said that all the hardware was included. Well, it seems like you actually have to order the lug nuts as well (separately). And when you go on the motorsport tech website, they don’t tell you which closed end nut would fit for your specific order.
I’d suggest talking to the manufacturer. I’ve never had to order anything extra for mine.
@@GoodWorksTractors Thank you! I appreciate you and your channel very much!
Putting heavy tires and wheels on is a one-man job. To make it easy lay a 2x4 on the ground parallel with the front of the axle, roll the tire up to the 2x4 so it's close to alignment with your studs or hub. Then use a pry bar or a 3 foot 2x4 on the back of the tire and slip it right up on. let leverage work for you
how do you decide what width spacers to go with?
So what size do recommend for 3038e John Deere
get a 4-way or an impact wrench.
how much does that extra length effect the axle? like is it more likely to break with the duals on there? what about with the spacer+ duals? seems like possibly the duals might have had enough torque to stretch those lug bolts and they were hand loose after that. idk, just possible observations. thread locker maybe?
use lock-tite on wheel spacer bolts. how wide wheel spacer can u use with mower deck can u put spacers on front
Nice video, now lets see how long having the paint rubbed off on the wheels will brother you before repaint the wheels
Haha it eats at me even right now!
Nice video. Going to get some.
Thanks Morris, hope you love them.
None of the links have the wheel spacers on them, where can I find them?
He doesn't carry them any more. The company failed to meet their end of the business agreement.
Yeah, will be finding out soon. It was fun driving around without the duals. Crazy how much more pep it had. Time will tell. Thanks Ryan!
With the spacers do they also interfere with the mower gauge wheels like the duals did ?
I'll find out. Haven't thrown the mower on yet. Typically either 1.5" or 2" is the max with a mower.
Might want some Loctite if you have bolts you can't access easily, if you don't want to use red Loctite you can mix it 50/50 with blue Loctite
Trying to find these for a RK55 or whatever that is in Tym land.
What was beginning width and final width after flipping wheels and adding spacers?
Not sure on final measurement. Will have to grab.
Well a 1/2 inch or 3/4 pneumatic impact would sure come in handy. Try using anti-seize on the threads. Works great
1/2 or 3/4 impact..3/8 all that’s needed for that job. JMO
Two questions, I have a 3025e, what spacing would you recommend as a middle of the road? Second, if these work well (I don’t doubt they do), why would they not install or design wheels to have this offset from the factory?
Where did you find your neon John Deere sign??
i looked at the Bora site and they list No spacers for john deere tractors????
Tons of them. www.motorsport-tech.com/special/tractor/johndeere_s
Did you only do the rears?
Yeah just the rears
How wide of wheel spacers did you do?
What's the biggest you could go without impeding the mower deck? I'd like a 3" set...
You'd want to measure the space between the outside of your tire and the gauge wheel. Then, I'd subtract a little to be safe.
Is that threaded rod? Probably cut threads instead of rolled in, like a bolt. Stress and corrosion cracks develop in cut threads.
Dos anybody make a wider wheel and tire for the 1025r
Not aware of an option
What is your conclusion regarding dual wheels vs. spacers. Which configuration is better or worse? I was looking for a video with your final analysis.
I'm curious... How is the stability of the 1025R with single tires and wheel spacers compared to your dually set-up that your removed?
Hello sir I wonder if you may could talk to BORA and see if they maybe could do one of two things. 1 give longer bolts to bolt the spacer to the hub that way if it does back off it will hit the wheel and some threads will still be in the hub 2 still have a long bolt but make a recessed lip so that if the bolt backs out it only can go so far? Just a couple thoughts since there is a slight chance in the bolts backing off. I’m sure they wouldn’t fall out or anything but would make you feel a bit more at ease? Anyway just a thought. Thank ya for the vid!
Like the fact that you know how to use a torque wrench (push not pull)!
Should you not have use blue lock tight on the threads?
What size would you recommend for a JD3025e? Have you done a review on the 3025E? Thanks. Learning a lot here on your channel!
Where can I find out how much if any, wheel spacing I can have and still use a mid mount mower?
Contact them That's what I did.
Can you send me a link for your suitcase front weights
Sure thing www.goodworkstractors.com/product/buy-tractor-suitcase-weights-wheel-weights/
Great video. So by the same logic, should you take the wheels off and check the torque on the spacer bolts regularly also?
Thanks. Yeah, I mentioned that in the video at one point. Some guys mentioned adding a small amount of thread lock. Manual does state not to Lock Tite though.
Yes, you should retorque the spacers and the wheels.
God bless you!
was your tractor in neutral when you tried to torque the spacers?
In range, not neutral
@@GoodWorksTractors my best guess is open differential, the other wheel was probably spinning the opposite direction. then when you put the other wheel on the ground it had enough resistance to torque. as well didn't your tractor have a parking brake issue (out of adjustment or Light pressure) I remember it rolling down your front yard.
Great job. Love the videos. One day I’ll slide over by the shop and say hello. Also one day I’ll own a real tractor. Haha
One question, do people put them on the front too?
Suggestion: put blue locktite in the treads of the bolts of the bora spacers so they won't loosen, no?
One more question, are wheel spacers harder on wheel bearings, and if so 2 inch would be easier on the machine than 4 inch..
