Very informative Matt. A lot of information for the novice and I’ll watch again to take more of it in. I’ve just started doing some videos on my iPhone. I’m in South Wales for a while and walked some of the Gower coastline. It takes some getting over talking while there’s people around but I guess that gets easier the more you do. Also, there may be a trip to Northern Italy on the cards this summer, through the Dolomites and I want to record as much of that as I can. Have a great weekend Matt! 👍
Sounds like you have some good trips planned Jer. Personally I feel like a total berk talking to the camera even when there's no one around, I think it's a rare person who doesn't feel a bit self conscious doing that sort of thing! Good luck with recording your adventures, at the very least it'll be something to look back on in future times.
Thanks for that honest review Mat, it’s great that they are constantly pushing the capabilities of them, the low light footage is incredible, I suppose that the file size is quite large though, both Insta and DJI seem to be getting way ahead of GoPro now, all the best buddy 👍
I have to admit that the file sizes are huge, which might bog down older computers (I could've done with mentioning that in the review!). I think GoPro might be in trouble if they don't at least try to catch up with the new kids on the block.
Hi Matt, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the AcePro. For the past few months I have been looking at what to replace my GoPro 11 with and to be honest with you the AcePro has some fantastic features on it and yes it does work extremely well in low light but in my opinion where the AcePro falls down is in its video quality. On every review I have watched the actual video image quality reminds me of the early action cameras ie soft and pixilated. Please note I am not just saying this about the AcePro but also on the DJI Action 4. Wouldn't it be great if a company could take all of the best pieces from GoPro, DJI and Insta360 and put them into one "Super Action Cam" . Ride safe and keep producing great content, subscribed 👍🏻
Thanks Shane, glad to have you onboard (I've subbed to you too). Yes I agree it'd be a great thing if someone could make a cam with all the best features, but as I said in the video I think all cameras are a series of compromises so I don't think we'll ever see one that ticks all the boxes for everyone. I've been running the AcePro alongside the Hero11 for most of this year and I haven't found the AceP to be soft or pixelated at all, the only area it loses out on is the minimum focus distance so if you're using the camera for arm's length talking head stuff, then it might look a bit soft. But that's not what I use it for and I actually prefer the image quality over the Hero11, so much so I'm actually selling off my GoPro's to fund a second AcePro 👍🏻
@@ClassicRides many thanks Matt. A friend has heavily invested in Insta360 products including the AcePro and the new Insta360 X4 and he has been delighted with them. I am seeing him later this month so I will take the opportunity to have a good look at the AcePro then. Fingers crossed they will update the software to allow wireless connectivity to the mics again 👍🏻
@@MrSTAdventures They already have, there was an update a few weeks ago that's allowed the wireless mics to connect again. Seems they actually listen to customer feedback.
Very impressive, I'm quite won over by it. There must have been a problem with the Bluetooth connectivity because that would be a winner of a feature, I'd love that. Very much might be my next camera.. I have to discipline myself because I don't NEED another camera right now... but... well... you know how these purchases go that are in the WANT pile.. heheh. Happy days mate.
I understand that, I didn't need a new camera either but the lure of a new bit of kit is always a bit to overwhelming. It's a shame about the mic thing, I really do hope they reinstate it as it's be an almost perfect action camera then.
I see you did a much more in-depth review than I did, well worth the watch. Same as you I wasn't really unhappy with my GoPro's, but the Ace Pro just edges ahead I think.
Sure, it's a DJI Mic 2 connected to the Pocket 3 (which I've since gotten rid of). Love your channel btw, some of the best moto-cinematography out there!
@@ClassicRides Thanks mate, appreciate it! I've got the DJI mic 1 but unfortunately you can't connect it wirelessly without the annoyingly large transceiver. Think I might just get a wired lav to keep things simple. Just subbed to your channel 👌.
that's a pretty interesting camera, real pity they removed that bluetooth connection. I wonder how useful or useless the digital motion blur in that camera is. Is it about as useful as adding the motion blur on your desktop?
Actually I just noticed this morning there's been a firmware update and they've made bluetooth mic connection work again, so I reckon that's super useful for motorbikers. Not tried the motion blur thing to be fair so can't comment, but there's ND filters available if you want to do it properly 👍🏻
@@ClassicRides good to know. Back to the blur there's no proper way of doing it as the digital stabilization doesn't work with ND's so this way it another there's no good solution
I think they're two very tools for different creating different types of shot. Which one you should get depends on what type of footage you want to make really 🙂
Excellent review style, honest and different. I think the main problem with all these action cameras is their price, they are not affordable and way out of reach of someone like me. I just cant invest $500 in such a niche device.
I 100% agree with you, they are quite expensive, it’s the one area GoPro has them beat as the second hand market is relatively affordable, something like the Hero 7 is an excellent camera and fairly cheap to buy now.
@@ClassicRides Thats exactly what I own, the Hero 7 which works well for what I do, but I could be expanding and experimenting more if I had more access to these toys. By the way just discovered your channel and an enjoying all of your videos very much, although I noticed you have slowed down a bit the production, whats going on ?
@@mayimbe2198 Glad to hear you're enjoying the videos. Last October it started to rain here; and it hasn't had the decency to stop much ever since, so I've been a bit limited with opportunities to film new videos this year.
I’d say it’s a little better than GoOro at wind noise reduction, but at 100kph I think you’re going to struggle with any action camera. Your best bet is linking up a mic inside your helmet.
For sure you could definitely use it for that, it has a loop function where it’ll keep recording like a dash-cam. But then if you want to use it for other things it’s got loads of other functions too.
Good video Matt, been looking at various cameras lately but its information overload. This is a great help. Cheers.
Glad to hear you found it helpful. It's interesting all the functions these cameras have, but sometimes something simpler might be nice.

Thanks, and glad you found it useful.
That was a refreshingly constructive critique of the product, and free from click-bait sensationalism! Great video sir, many thanks for sharing… 😁👍🏼👍🏼

Thank you for a great review, I may have to treat myself at Christmas 😄😄
There's a new version out now so should be some good bargains for the original Ace Pro, or the new Ace Pro 2 looks to have a few good upgrades.

Hey brother! Please tell me how well it performs regarding wind noise reduction while riding and talking on average speeds of 100kmph.
I’d say it’s a little better than GoOro at wind noise reduction, but at 100kph I think you’re going to struggle with any action camera. Your best bet is linking up a mic inside your helmet.
So you think this camera would be good for use as a every day camera for security purposes. If worst was to happen, you have a record for insurance.
