    The Insta360 Ace Pro is an excellent vlog camera, and it has a solid place in 2024 as a vlog camera. I've found it to be a lot of fun, very practical and above all has great image quality all around, no matter what situation I am in. It also looks best straight out of camera, that's important to a huge amount of people. In this video I vlog with the Insta360 Ace Pro and even managed to strap it to a few Maserati cars. I also go to MotorWorld Munich to check out all the great cars!

    Oh, well, good for you you’ve come to like this camera lol, a lot of sugarcoating now imo. Would you say the pros outweigh the cons you mentioned before?
    Also, I remember in one of your previous videos you figured that Action 4 might overheat due to EU regulations, while GoPro is not exactly clear, what about this cam?

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Zoey, yes, I'd say so. I've actually not had the Ace Pro overheat at all, I have mainly been using it during winter though. To be honest I don't really notice any cons anymore, I've got used to holding it at a certain distance, which is comfortable where I'm always sharp as is my background. The screen I've really got down to using and love it now. I wish we had full screen view in the app when we had it sideways. The lack of log and 10-bit, something I haven't noticed AT ALL, and it actually is quite nice just putting it on the timeline and exporting it after a bit of cutting here and there.

    Gi day Phillip. Another great video as always. I loved my Ace Pro up until the time that I was taking some video for customers on my tour trike and condensation formed on the lens. The vide was ruined and totally useless. I wa not very happy! It is now in transit back to Insta360 for repair or replacement as it was less than 6 months old. I'm now using my old faithful Go Pro Hero 11. I have never had any condensation problems on any Go Pro Hero that I've owned. We'll see how Insta360 handles my warranty claim. And as always a BIG thumbs.👍

      Oh no way! I've not had that problem, mind you, it did happen once on the Action 3, but maybe I had the lens screwed on loosely. The Ace Pro does a great job at videos like these and hopefully yours comes back and totally redeems itself!

    if i want a "do-it-all" camera to record all my travels, would you recommend this camera? i was debating between this and the dji action 4 as i want something that i don't really have to worry about if i drop it, record in the rain, record at night etc.
    i was also considering the dji pocket 3 but i think i would prefer something simple that doesn't make me anxious.
    of the three which do you like the most and which would you recommend most for my usage?
    thank you for this video the footage looks amazing!!

      I would personally go with the Ace Pro, it is excellent in every single condition I've thrown it in, except super close focus, which the Pocket 3 excels in, but you can buy diopters for the Ace Pro. I took the Pocket 3 with me to America recently, and I have super anxiety having to constantly hide it safely after using it for 2 minutes.

    Thanks for your feedback! I have been watching quite a lot of videos about Ace pro lately since i use the X3 to get a one brand approach ( to me, Insta 360 app is awesome compared to others ) Nevertheless, I am confused there is almost no emphasis on FOV and horizon leveling whereas for action cam, the capacity to have a wide FOV seems very important. That is one of the main reason i bought the GoPro 12 with the Mod. Otherwise, both Ace pro and Action 4 seems way better in terms of usability and quality.

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, both the Action 4 and Ace Pro use the same sensor, whereas the GoPro Hero 12 uses a smaller sensor and a different processor, but it has much more emphasis on a really wide FOV and levelling, especially with the Mod 2.0. The Ace Pro has levelling, but it's a bit of a crop. I myself use it mainly in dewarp in standard stabilisation in 4K and that works great for me. I don't really mind the image rolling naturally a little. Thanks!

    I still don’t like how the HDR ruins skin tones and some other colours :/
    One question that I keep asking in comments but no one ever answers me: is the screen also water resistant for touch, like on the action 4? (Being able to use the touchscreen as if your soaking wet hands are dry). That would be nice to finally see in a video, if you haven’t already finished the under water test video 😅

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'm not a fan of it either, so I'm really happy they gave us the option in a recent update to turn it off. I've used it when wet, and it seemed to do a very good job. The Action 3 doesn't work very well when wet, but the Action 4 did a much better job. I haven't done the underwater video yet, I'll be comparing it to another action camera, but I'll be sure to put the touchscreen to the test.

    Felt like watching a movie. Great video Phillip. Thank you. ❤ I have one question which I couldnt find answer anywhere. I am looking for a second camera to record unboxing and product closer lookup videos. I do have overhead setup at my desk, still a compact dji action or ace pro style chest mount setup is all I am looking for. Only thing I am missing out is Background Blur effect when I show my Phone screen or products closer lookup. Only DJI Osmo Pocket 2 or 3 checks out for my requirement. But again, the size of ace pro is what I am looking for.
    Any idea such bokeh or background blurs can be achieved with narrow view using ace pro? Or should I go with pocket 2 or 3? Thank you once again.

    • @PhillipSkraba

      No. DJI opted for a processor that can handle 10-bit and LOG, Insta360 went with one that can handle complex A.I. So you get one or the other at this time in history, maybe they'll be able to design a processor that'll fit into such a tiny cam and not overheat like crazy in the future that can do both.

    I upgrade from the Go2 to the Ace Pro and love it. But i am having a tough time transitioning to the new features and settings.
    First issue that i having is with keeping the camera level. More specifically, in some modes, the settings allow you to keep the horizon level. But others you can not. Any tips?
    Next, i am having trouble knowing with video mode to use and when. I was qctually hoping you would include your shooting modes being used throughout the video. Did you primarily use Video mode (over Pure Video or Freeframe)?
    Thanks again for the great video.

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, only in horizon levelling will it actually have a straight horizon, otherwise you have to do it by eye, which is ok, and if I get it wrong and I feel I NEED to fix it I just rotate in post. I mainly use standard stabe and dewarp, that works for me. In this video 99% was in normal video mode on full auto, except for the end where I used PureVideo mode in auto with stabe on. I never used Freeframe really. Thank You, glad you liked it!

      What you guys don't get is that I've worked with Insta360 for over 3 years now, that's not a secret. I do however make sure that when I do a video for any company, any product, I'm honest in my opinion. This camera has grown on me, and I've tried to explain why in this video, it's that simple. It has no log, no 10-bit and no timecode support due to the fact that it uses a different processor that the DJI Action 4 (even though it uses the same 8K sensor, that Insta360 opened up to us to take advantage of), but Insta360 decided to put their eggs in the A.I. basket and therefore in my opinion this camera caters more towards the vlogging community, which let's be honest, is much, much larger than the pro sports community that is in need to 10-bit, log and timecode to match a series of cameras. X4, no idea what that is...

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'd say they are very similar, but, the Insta360 uses A.I. to remove noise, and it does it pretty well, and almost sees in the dark, add to that the point that I just throw it in my coat pocket and don't care, whereas with the Pocket 3 my life is a lot harder where it comes to run and gunning. If I had to choose between them for vlogging and action it would be the Ace Pro, if it was for a clean POV for filmmaking with follow functions then the Pocket 3. Personally I use the Ace Pro a LOT more than the Pocket 3.

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It really depends for what. If it's for throwing down a hill, getting run over by a bike, then probably the GoPro, if it's for vlogging in all situations including low light I'd go with the Ace Pro. However, Insta360 recently dropped a video where they put the Ace Pro through some horrific abuse, and it survived really, really well, so that kind of makes me far more comfortable with using the Ace Pro in more action based situations.

    Thanks for the great video! agree that Ace Pro has the better image quality all around. The first time I used it was for my hiking trip and the lighting in the woods wasn't great but still, it worked out well, picked up lots of details. It's not my first action camera, tbh, I used hero 9 back in time, but I found it hard to compare to the level of image quality that ace pro delivers.

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the quality in low light conditions is really quite amazing, and it's such a step up from a camera like the Hero 9. I'm really enjoying it, especially considering it does a good job in just about every single scenario.

    How do I flip the camera from filming what is in front of you to selfie mode?
    Also, do you consider this Insta360 a better camera (for vlogging) than the DJI Osmo Pocket 3?

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It took me some time to get the selfie screen to like me, but what I do is I film with it down looking at something, but NOT locked down, so when I turn it around to myself it is a smooth transition when I lift it up and see myself, so the key is NOT to lock it down (when you click it in) when you're filming. That way you won't have a sudden jitter when you lift it up. YES! For vlogging the Ace Pro in my opinion is far superior to the DJI Pocket 3, just the fact that I can throw it in my pocket spontaneously without a care, that is reason enough for me.

      Both pretty cool, nice thing with the Ace Pro is you can have it mounted on your bike and you can angle the screen so it’s visible from above. Apart from that they’re pretty similar, would be good when Insta360 give us DJI Mic 2 connectivity again so we can use the Mic wirelessly without any receiver unit attached. For low light shots on the bike the Ace Pro will hold stabilisation much better than Action 4.

    Definitely like my GP12 but I also live in a very sunny area of the world so I'm a bit curious that this might be a better choice for all the travel. My wife and I like to leave the warm sunshine and get into the cold dark places of the world for vacations (I know, backwards lol) and I'm really starting to think the GP12 won't be able to capture anything and I should be grabbing an Ace Pro or a DJI Action 4.
    I want to mention that - way too late mind you - GoPro finally got their crap together with the GP12 and I can film for an hour in full sun 85 F degree heat without any issues. I will typically leave it on top of my camera turned on and just record clips as I want them over the course of the day (changing batteries as they die of course) and it seems to be great even sitting on a tripod now.
    They have been totally garbage especially the GP9 with software but I feel like they got their act together with the GP12 albeit too late.

      The Hero 12 has really improved on battery life, I fully agree. The Ace Pro also does a superb job with battery life and is great in sunny and low light situations, so yeah, I’d highly recommend it for dark places, where the GoPro and DJI miss out. Insta360 put their money in the A.I. basket, good choice as it kills in low light.

      Well, it's my experience with it after 2 months, you see the footage, it is what it is.
