I've been a scrub tech for many years and I think Alden nailed it. Any new tech watching this should emulate what he said. There was a lot of good feedback between both of them.

Fellow tech here. I am so happy to find realistic and helpful info. Not a school commercial. Can we get a "when things go wrong in the OR"? It happens, there are traumas, things change in the midst of surgery. Share more about techs please!! I love it.

I’m in the surgical tech program, once I graduate. I pray that I work under a surgeon like this, you can tell he’s genuine and nice and seems to have the patience and knowledge with his staff that could just be starting out. I was told there will be surgeons that will yell at you!

My teachers have been telling us lots of them will yell this semester. I get the idea that maybe there's a lot of pressure put on surgeons that work in hospitals to be fast and efficient, and not slow and steady. Of course, I would never know what makes someone so rude, but I think about it a lot.

      It's because people expect perfection.
      They are human.
      We are human.
There is a LOT of pressure to be perfect.

@@JCLinMD Thank you for outlining that! I can't imagine. Are there ways to be a more calming presence for a surgeon, besides anticipating really well?
