I've been a scrub tech for many years and I think Alden nailed it. Any new tech watching this should emulate what he said. There was a lot of good feedback between both of them.
Fellow tech here. I am so happy to find realistic and helpful info. Not a school commercial. Can we get a "when things go wrong in the OR"? It happens, there are traumas, things change in the midst of surgery. Share more about techs please!! I love it.
I’m in the surgical tech program, once I graduate. I pray that I work under a surgeon like this, you can tell he’s genuine and nice and seems to have the patience and knowledge with his staff that could just be starting out. I was told there will be surgeons that will yell at you!
My teachers have been telling us lots of them will yell this semester. I get the idea that maybe there's a lot of pressure put on surgeons that work in hospitals to be fast and efficient, and not slow and steady. Of course, I would never know what makes someone so rude, but I think about it a lot.
NAILED IT!!! Thank you for posting this video and showing appreciation for the field of Surgical Technology. I have been a CST for well over 25 years and am now an Instructor of Surgical Technology here in Tempe. Yes, I maintain my skills with a PRN position. I am very excited to share this video with them.

It's because people expect perfection.
They are human.
We are human.
There is a LOT of pressure to be perfect.
@@JCLinMD Thank you for outlining that! I can't imagine. Are there ways to be a more calming presence for a surgeon, besides anticipating really well?
I’m current in the surgical tech program and looking every where for good tips and trick in every aspect to help me be successful
Me too. Good luck :)
