I'm a nurse. We were taught back in college that when talking in front of the patient to always assume the patient can hear you, whether you're in a coma, knocked out with anesthesia or even deaf. The fact that these licensed surgeons and nurses can't even follow basic education on patient's right to considerate and respectful care is a big disappointment.

I am a retired ICU nurse that has treated many patients that were in comas and I was always taught that they might be able to hear what I was saying. Indeed that was true because I had a patient tell me that I helped them live through the night because of how kind I talked to them and they heard me pray for them. The patient was intubated and put in a drug induced coma but could hear everything going on!

My doctor wouldn't do anything to figure out why I was in pain. For 10 months she kept giving me different pills to mask the pain. I told her I needed actual tests done and she left the room for a minute. I heard her through a vent telling her co-worker I was a whiney bitch. I left and went to the ER. Told them what happened and they did an ultrasound and sent me for a scope and found out I had a bleeding ulcer. They moved me to a different doctor, thank God.

And I heard nothing racist in the recording........The word "clinic" mentioned in one of the discussions means this piece of garbage, low life, excuse for a woman, was a charity case. The doctor performed the surgery for nothing...that wasn't enough for her and her husband. She provoked disgust prior to the surgery with her attitude, baiting a response, and then setting a trap to catch aggravated human beings....Listen to the second case! Half a million pay out, a trap was set for a payday from an honest statement, made be an excellent anesthesiologist...( a woman of color, mind you ) about a piece of garbage man....I suggest you listen to the audio again, Quentin.

I had a motorcycle accident and I was in coma for almost 2 mos and I recall several conversations going in and out of consciousness, specifically the one where my 3 Drs called my parents into my room, away from my family, to tell them to say their goodbyes as they couldn’t do anything else for me, besides keeping comfortable. That devastated me and in “my mind” I tried to yelled for them to please don’t give up on me. 😢 it was pure desperation and sadness
My parents refused to believe them and they took me home and with guidance from another Dr, I was up and jumping in less the 2 weeks, like nothing happened.
Never assume that because someone is sleeping, in coma or under anesthesia that they can’t hear you.

Well it makes sense, even though it's fucked up. Think about it, you don't want to be screwing with people that make your food either, and this dude said it in a joking manner. Though I agree one could argue some of this isn't very "patient friendly".. People talking in a criticizing manner about other people and fooling around in what they think is a operation amongst trusted colleagues probably happens all the time. I've been operated on and I wouldn't be surprised if the people operating on me would've made some embarrassing/what I could interpret as insulting comments whilst I was out. Why the hell would you even look at this in a criticizing manner. The question is.. Did they do the operation successfully/did they behave in a acceptable manner when dealing within the patients direct awareness.. I can't say they have to be serious all the time. I'd rather have a surgeon that fools around and makes stupid comments whilst still doing their job then a surgeon that's stressed out, afraid of saying something that might be taken to damn seriously which in turn could hurt his reputation and possibly his performance. Also people of all races can make dumb ass comments about any other race.. taking such things seriously tends to be the issue. It's about intend, it's not about "just words". Black and white are not offensive in and of itself, making a joke is not offensive. Taking offense and expecting it to be meant as an insult when someone doesn't mean to be hateful at all is in fact offensive. Assuming the worst in a person without understanding intend is an insult. This world is becoming so backwards it's becoming ridiculous :/ Overemotional people brainwashed by MSM to take offense and see reason to be offended in everything they can. Supporting a dividing narrative when in reality what they really desire is joy and peace. People have just been programmed to continuously find reason for unrest which is very depressing to think about

    • @Ms.Hampton
      @Ms.Hampton 2 ปีที่แล้ว +223

Even if she hadn't spoken those "choice words", Black people still have every reason to fear doctors. She was clear in understanding how healthcare works for our population and for all we know, that hernia surgery was purposely put off because she's black and her health isn't as important.
Do some research on Black women's gynecological health and how often they die because of negligence from their doctors.

@@pookie4288 I am the reason victims don't speak up? we're talking about a person that wouldn't even have been conscience. You can't play the victim of something that wasn't meant for your ears. People criticize others about all kinds of things. And it's not always pretty either. Also no one said this is anyone's fault, why do you even describe this as "always their fault" how about, it's nobody's fault and nothing much happened to begin with. I never said race has anything to do with speaking truth. If anything race is better left out, I just mentioned race because for some reason people like to make a point about something being an issue in relation to their race when all to often it shouldn't even be/isn't meant to be about race. If this pandemic has shown us anything it's that the people we trust in can do the most terrible things for personal gain. And yes, of course the only reason the doctors apologized is because they got caught. Like I said, they probably talk like this amongst themselves all the time without thinking much about it.. Maybe it's not meant to be a big deal to begin with :/ The reason they can talk like this behind someone's back instead of saying these things straight to someone's face is in fact because of sympathy and having a base understanding. So I guess you'd say she's a victim of people speaking their minds without the intention of actually hurting someone.... I can imagine worse things in life then this. I just gave myself as an example, this quite possibly happened with me as well when I was out for an operation. I can't be bothered though, unless they'd be like.. physically assaulting me :/

Dude, here in USA , the hospital had only 'Male doctor as a obstetrician' and the nurses were females who were seen 'Inferior' to a doctor
The insult happened to a woman in labour who was taken care by female nurses and doctor was enjoying outside in assembly until his 'Main and inly job to cut a woman and pull baby ' does not arises . When male doctor was not there , the nurses 'Helped' her improve labour by telling her to squat on a squat bar on bed and walk and take up an 'Upright birth position' as opposed to the sleeping pose , cos sleeping pose increase pain amd risks of uterine exhaustion.
And really, the woman improved labour from 1cm. Dilation in 6 cm in just 20 mins, she said to nurse she was comfortable giving birth holding on to squat bar of the bed, and nurses were so loving to her until 'MALE DOCTOR ' came inside.
Suddenly, the nurses under his influence stopped using their own brains and turned rude to woman in labour, shouting 'How dare you choose your own birthing position, when we say lay flat on back , do it, we know and we are 'IN CHARGES of your baby' !!!
And the male doctor just yawned and came like as if having a morning walk , as if the woman was not imporatnt, and when he came, he put on gloves
'Coercively and forcefully pushed back woman into 'SLEEPING POSITION' who was squating while 'Crowning out baby' and imagibe woman was already had half baby out on squat bar, and while she was in discomfort of half baby out instead, he forcefully pushed her hard thud !!!, as if he is fighting her, and took out scissors and cut her 'Intimatr areaa', a forcful episiotomy when already baby was out safely lol, i.e. cut her without necessity and also WITHOUT ANESTHETIC
And then laughed at her husband saying 'What kinda stitch you want to have for her, an extra husband stitch to make ger seggsy tight at bottoms or remain loose only, a husband stitch and she will be more seccsier during post pregnancy seccgs!!!!'

Mamy doctors are just drug dealers , some are arrogant asshats , and some regular people who do a great job. I still understand how they might get aggravated at someone threatening to sue them , and then coming in for surgery. Did they do a good job on the surgery? That's what is important, and the entire precious thing, they weren't being racist , she's looking to sue them, saying this is precious and that is precious, no context or reasoning , just the words on a edited video, nope I don't go for that sh1t.
They were being immature and rude for sure. For that they shoukd be punished by their job, a lawsuit , no , calling them racists and the rest is going to get her blacklisted from anyone touching her if she needs a doctor.
My father worked in a hospital. He wasn't a surgeon, he did first responding and emergency room work, and I can say they deal with a lot, stress, violence, and death , so most does have a sense of humor most people wouldn't like, myself included. That diesnt equal racist or anything else, it means asshat that is childish.

I was in a coma for two weeks, and as I came to I was terrified, disoriented, confused and in pain. I was way too weak to get up or move, and my speech was slurred. I know I was a handful, I remember constantly pressing the call button because I was terrified and didnt understand where I was or why I was there. The nurses in the ICU did not like me when I was like this. they made absolutely no effort to calm me down or reason with me. Instead they moved the call light out of my reach and closed the door and blinds and ignored me unless they had to see me.
It was horrible to me and only made me even more terrified. I tried to tell my mom but she insisted I was just hallucinating.

One other thing. You should have someone advocating for you when in a healthcare environment. You can legally appoint a family member to advocate for you when you are receiving care. Talk to a lawyer to reset up such a document. For example, recently my husband underwent a test in a faith based hospital. When the tech came in, he did not introduce himself either to myself or my husband. He then removed part of my husband's hospital gown, again without saying what he was doing. I was there. I very politely asked the techs name, which he begrudgingly gave. Then when he touched my husband without asking, removed an area of clothing. I spoke up and said to the tech, you need to ask to touch the person and asked why he was removing my husband's clothing without asking. The tech didn't like that, but had I been the patient, I would told the tech to not touch me without permission ( Yes, they are supposed to ask!) I then reminded the tech that my husband was not a Medical cadaver. They did stop treating husband with disrespect. Also, if you are being examined by a medical provider, you have the right to tell them to wash their hands and put on sterile gloves before examining you. And they may not touch you without your express permission.

As a nurse, I'll tell you, most doctors are that way. And you people take their advice to vaccinate and take pills. Unbelievable. I did 20 years and all I did was stand up for my patients and fellow good nurses time and again against these health care monsters. In the end. It was a losing battle. They were simply too many. And too powerful. I'm out, now. Regretting the day I will be a patient and at their mercy. Hopefully, there will be a few good nurses around.

Refused sedation for a spinal injection. The staff was joking and having a great time, and I joined in, even answered a riddle the doctor asked and the others didn't get.
At the end the doctor commented that I handled it very well and asked what I was on. The nurse looked and said she couldn't find that i was on anything. When I said, "Nope," you could have heard a cricket fart.
I didn't have an issue with the OR staff. I DID raise hell about one of the nurses using my cell phone while I was undergoing the procedure. She was apparently expecting me to be too confused by the sedative to figure out what happened, but the phone was NOT where I left it and my last call was to the taxi, NOT to her gossip buddy in the clinic front office. There is a lack of quality of care epidemic going on all over the world and none of these “healthcare professionals” are ever held accountable or responsible considering “justice systems” are literally set up to protect “doctors” at all costs.
It’s not enough to be able to afford healthcare, the healthcare needs to be superb. Every single human being deserves quality healthcare. These “doctors” & “healthcare professionals” think they’re gods and can get away with anything. they are far too privileged and protected by society & the system. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE SO IF YOU ARE A VICTIM OF NEGLIGENT HEALTHCARE, YOU NEED TO SPEAK UP AND TRY TO FIGHT BACK OR ELSE THINGS WILL NEVER CHANGE AND JUST GET WORSE. End of story.

If you see victoriam times, you would understand
4 classes of MEN ruled and narcissitically ruled over all other folks like bureaucrats without any 'QUESTIONING BACK' , they were
      1. Religious Preacher preists
      2. Physicians used to own'People's bodies and bodily authority
      3. Kings , were almost dictators dictating dressing rules
      4. Barber surgeons used to cut anybody they desire
No matter whatever they did, however they tortured people , people saw that totrture as a 'NORMAL loving and necessary control of them over their bodies'.
Now, you see, barber surgeons were totally oagan and unskilled and almost killed many , but peopl still could not rause voice against them
Male physicians were ones who made the fake concepts of hysteria and obstetric dilemma amd fun fact which is hidden in history is when males actually took 'Delivery' in hands from midwives, and chose to focre womwn to come in hospital at that time , 'No Woman' with any 'Real infection or disease was ever treated in a hospital with medicines', instead the place of women as patients in hospital was only for one reason 'A disease called CHILDBIRTH', that was only admissible reason for woman to come in hosputal as a patient and 99 % of rich women who went to men for childbirth in hospitals DIED and babies died with heavy infectious outbreaks, while death rate of home Births that were assisted by female nurses, auxillary nurses or mdiwives had 60-70% survival rate and a serene and calm experience because midwives and nurses knew everything from turning a baby in womb to perineal massage to different birth positions to improve labour speed to emergency episiotomy by 'Burning the traditional blade' and even maintaining sterility like that, with remaining 10-20% women dying cos of diseases like bp, diabetes or a transverse position of baby, etc. Things for which women nurses had 'NO ACCESS to education' to find treatment for.
What men used to do in hospital then ?
They used to put a big white sheet on woman's body right from neck to feet, and force her in lithotomy pose with legs locjed in stirrups with she screaming with all pain cos of locking her like a prisoner, she forced to not scream, she lays such motionelss for hours with nobody in her room and then the male students used to go to treat MALE PATIENTS who were there for TB, typhoid, fevers amd jaundice, etc. And take urine and blood tests and touch those patients, then come to woman's room , oogle at her 'Nakeed parts' which were easily in thwir feont while she was laying flat, take scissor and cut her without Emergency necessity and pull baby with'Soiled, dirty hands with which they had treated a 'Leprosy , tb or malaria patients'. Amd these women and babies died as a rssult of painful and wild sepsis.
These deaths haplened for many years, until a 'New male physician secretly told male docs to look why women in home births were having better survival, and to watch secretly technique of midwives, and then they saw that, when women perform childbirths, the women and nurses maintauned 'Hygiene' by sterilising hands, and then he introduced washing hands for male docs in labor room that he learned from midwives, but instead of being grateful ge later shamed that 'Nurses and midwives are still inferior than male doc's brain and way of thinking'.
But did anybody sue these male docs in clurt saying 'Childbirth is not field of male docs' , they should either teach surgery and medicine to already skilled midwives so that they can know more, or stop killing women by 'UNSCIENTIFIC PRTOCOLS'
No nobidy was sued in courts as they had blessing hand of kings and political men too. But women never had it.
And ti to this date, as long as 'Human body' is treated as something 'Sinful, vulgar , dirty, and shame culture surrounds, people will lack basic knowledge of health and docyors will see themselves as 'OWNERS' not workers.

The first clue I had that something was up was I had 3 male "attendants" which I later believed to be residents who wanted to "observe" the procedure, I watched them smirk as they put me under before I got to the operating room. After the surgery, my recovery was so painful, I knew I had been used as a guinea pig while all three "residents" practiced the same procedure. The doctor was a cold fish. I never physically recovered from the procedure. But, sadly, I had signed papers that gave them permission to use me as a teaching tool. I am lucky to be alive.

Later I saw him for care a couple times for a bit of an emergency when my primary doctor was out of town, and he was a total angel. I feel blessed to have had good people working over me when I'm unconscious, laying there totally vulnerable. But I'd had a bad experience in the past so I knew how important it was to me to find a doctor I was REALLY comfortable with to do my surgery. If I had a single reservation with them, I would have switched doctors. There are some gems out there, just gotta dig.

Dude, I'm a nurse, and health care "professionals" who behave this way are not only irreparably disgusting humans, but they undermine aaaany trust the public has in the rest of us who take our professions seriously. Being in the hands of a surgeon/doctor/nurse/etc is an incredibly vulnerable position, and for these "professionals" to BETRAY that trust makes me feel literally sick to my stomach.
Just so y'all know, most of us work hard to show our patients the respect that they deserve, and fortunately it's rare for me to catch a fellow health care worker being so flippantly unprofessional. Generally speaking, the folks who have busted their butts building a career in caring for others take that honor seriously (but, yeah-- every once in a while you find a real turd in the punch bowl, and I'm thankful to patients like this one who blow the cover on crappy providers. That may well be right. Although here in New Zealand, staff are encouraged to keep talk to a minimum in the OR. By the way, you may want to edit that last sentence so it comes across as coherent.

@EMMA ~ PEACE, LOVE, HAPPINESS There is no grown adult who has not done it. Unconciously we as humans do it. Thats just the truth, you might not want to do it which is good, or you try your best not to do it, but you definitely did it at some point in your life. To say that you never talked behind someones back in your life is a pretty bold and ridiculous statement.

Unfortunately as a non medical worker in a hospital I hear things like this all too often. Doctors saying patients are lying about pain or ignoring their concerns. Nurses commenting on people's appearance. I've even heard nurses making fun of women who are making loud noises during birth which is incredibly awful. When you're in horrible pain the last thing someone taking care of you should do is make fun of you. Working in a hospital ruined my perception of them for me. I don't trust anyone at face value and I always get a second opinion now.

Yes, a nurse yelled at me to stop screaming when I was in labor. Then my next child, a very nice nurse showed me how to breath during labor. What a big difference by sharing the littlest tip, and how different people can be.

I'm in medical school and unfortunately doctors do say that people lie about their pain sometimes, especially in emergency rooms they have nothing to do so they start rambling about something that happened a while ago or recently. A lot of nurses told me some stories that happened and they laughed about it. I don't approve of this but it is what it is can't do anything.

I don't see how people can get in trouble for this, regardless. The fact that she hid the recorder is proof that she was fishing for a lawsuit. People are entitled to their opinions, people are entitled to free speech. Just because you don't like what they say doesn't mean you should be awarded millions of dollars for "damages". What damages? The fact that this practice is a thing in this world is ridiculous. People can sue for anything.
