      There isn't a ton of research on cartilage repair. In those situations I prefer to use injections like PRP or microfragmented adipose tissue

      Very interesting. If you did fine with the injectable then it's either a byproduct the BPC is turning into in the gut/liver (which we know very little about) or some other ingredient in the oral form

    I heard that one of the reasons that bpc-157 isn't being investigated heavily despite its promise is that most research is funded by the pharmaceutical industry and they have little interest in trying to spend money on a naturally occurring compound that's difficult to patent. Is that true?

    • @DrewTimmermansND
      @DrewTimmermansND  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! You can get the oral BPC-157 that we use shipped to canada. If you're able to work with a naturopathic doctor locally that uses peptides, there is one compounding pharmacy that doctors can get injectable BPC-157 from.
      We use the BPC-157 capsules from InfiniWell as they use the arginate salt which is the better form of BPC. To help out, we have a 20% patient discount code on our website regenerativeperformance.com/supplements (code is RP20). Once on that website, click the InfiniWell link. There are three options for BPC-157, and truthfully all of them work well!

      First, it’s important to know that the FDA is in bed with pharma. Second, since BPC is found in human gastric juice, pharma cannot create it and therefore is labeled as a supplement and not classified as a drug. It works great for me though, but it will be hard to find all the comforting studies to prove it. I have come to realize there are two people in this world. Those who take everything and anything and those who need lots and lots of research to even try something. But you gotta decide for yourself! Good luck!!

    So why doesn’t it work in everyone? Are some conditions not responsive or are people rejecting it in the body? I’d heard the body can recognize it pretty well. Are the people who aren’t responding to that also not going to respond to other peptides like is that a sign of some issues with peptides in general or is it just that one specifically

    I've been reading lots of papers about the rat studies, it seems really promising for human use (especially coupled with the anecdotal evidence). I know clinical trails cost money and recruiting for human trails is hard..but with the possible benefits of BPC 157 seemingly being huge why is there such a lack of human research?
    It seems super odd to me that something that could be so useful and seemingly so promising has very little human research and very little negative side effects in the research....any thoughts on this?

      The most common starting dose we use with patients is 500mcg, once per day on an empty stomach. The time of day doesn't really matter in our opinion. We normally have patients take BPC-157 for at least a month to determine if they see improvements, but sometimes it takes longer to see effects as tissue healing takes time. We then have patients continue on the BPC-157 for several months, and then we might trial taking them off to see if their symptoms remained improved or if they regress. If they regress, we put them back on it.

    What do you think about the use of peptides while you have an active infection? Lets say you have a collagen disease caused by an infectious disease, treating it takes years though. Meanwhile more and more damage is caused, do you think starting with peptides sooner rather than later is a good idea even while you might still have an infectious agent in you? I understand that, at least the regenerative, peptides do not have any antimicrobial purposes so obviously this would be for example while you are on antibiotic therapy. @@DrewTimmermansND I watched the other lecture, thank you. I wanted to know if you could split a dosage up into multiple (IM, IA, SQ) injection sites for a few different injuries, or would it be more beneficial to address one injury at a time to seek more benefits quicker? How likely is it to get an orthopedic doctor to willingly administer it through an imaging source such as ultrasound sound if I already have the peptide? In the lecture I heard you said it’s more beneficial to administer it through fluoroscopy or ultrasound to get directly into the damaged tissue/joint so IA. This would be difficult to do alone and more painful, so could an individual perform IA injects and IM by themselves through research? Strictly for research purposes.

    • @DrewTimmermansND

      I do not recommend you try injecting inside the joint or into tendons yourself as that could cause more harm if you hit dangerous structures. Just a single subQ injection in the belly is enough for most people as it goes systemic and helps multiple different injuries that way.

    • @DrewTimmermansND
      @DrewTimmermansND  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      First, you don't need to inject in that area, as that doesn't improve outcomes.
      Second, here's our standard advice which is for oral, as we use oral most often as it works just as well as injectable: The most common starting dose we use with patients is 500mcg, once per day on an empty stomach.

    Can BPC 157 heal/restore cartilage? as i have a meniscus injury that i have been dealing with for the longest time

    • @DrewTimmermansND
      @DrewTimmermansND  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We have not had any patients who have ever healed cartilage from using BPC-157. We have had people see improvements in pain, but we don't see evidence of true cartilage healing on an MRI. If we are aiming for cartilage or meniscus healing, we are usually needing to opt for high dose PRP or stem cell therapy, delivered into the joint, into the meniscus, and into the bone deep to the cartilage.
      If you decide to trial the BPC-157 oral, here is our approach: The most common starting dose we use with patients is 500mcg, once per day on an empty stomach.
      We use the BPC-157 capsules from InfiniWell as they use the arginate salt. To help out, we have a 20% patient discount code on our website regenerativeperformance.com/supplements (code is RP20). Once on that website, click the InfiniWell link, and then choose the product labeled 'BPC-157 Original 250mcg'. This is the version that does not have SNAC, which we find works better.

    • @DrewTimmermansND
      @DrewTimmermansND  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you look at the research, yes oral is just as effective as injection despite the first pass effect of the liver. We still don't fully understand what happens to the BPC-157 after absorption, so it might not even be converted to anything else in the liver, or it might be converted into something that also stimulates healing. Clinically we see the same response - for the most part, oral is just as effective as injections. Some individuals have responded better to one vs the other, but when looking at a large sample of people, they are equal in efficacy for most people.

    Bpc or Prolotherapy for ligament instability?

    • @DrewTimmermansND
      @DrewTimmermansND  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Primary prolotherapy, secondary BPC. If you can do both even better. But if you can only do 1, then prolotherpy IMO

      Drew Timmermans, ND , what if my instability is in multiple places? Maybe from an autoimmune disorder ? Would prolo still be the best option?
      Or can I try bpc 157?
      I’ve done 6 rounds of Prolotherapy in my neck and saw very little improvement. I did 2 rounds in my shoulder and spine. One round of prp. And very little improvement overall. Would that mean that I need more rounds or would it mean that Prolotherapy is not working on me?

    • @DrewTimmermansND
      @DrewTimmermansND  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As I havent dont a medical workup on you I cant say for your case what would be best. But 1-2 bottles of BPC through tailormade would be cheaper than prolotherapy so might not be a bad idea to consider. Tailormade is the only over the counter BPC that is legit as they hold the patent fyi

      That's friggen scary, and the reason that I only recommend compounding pharmacies for injectable products. Not something you want to risk.

    Would BPC-157 work good for natural treatment of light bursitis of the elbow? Been having this inflamation pain come and go after training for a couple of months now 3-4.

    • @DrewTimmermansND
      @DrewTimmermansND  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a bad idea if it's mild. If it persists after trying BPC-157 might be worth exploring PRP

    Been watching your videos and they are very educational. Had a question? Came off of my trt last March and began to have symptoms such as costocondritis and now having acid reflux in my stomach because of the inflammation from my rib cage. So now I am on omeprazole 20mg daily kinda helping but now really, also prescribed on naproxen which last me maybe two weeks and didn’t do nothing. Been researching this bpc-157 and looks promising, but my question is can I inject the bpc-157 into my ribcage cartilage same with my chest in some areas that I am in pain??

    • @DrewTimmermansND
      @DrewTimmermansND  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      don't inject the BPC into your ribcage cartilage. Unnecessary and risky. Just take the oral version, it works just as good as injectable in most people.
      We use the BPC-157 capsules from InfiniWell as they use the arginate salt. To help out, we have a 20% patient discount code on our website regenerativeperformance.com/supplements (code is RP20). Once on that website, click the InfiniWell link, and then choose the product labeled 'BPC-157'. When you hover over the product, you will see it says 'Original Formula' above the ingredient box). This is the version that does not have SNAC, which we find works better.

    • @DrewTimmermansND
      @DrewTimmermansND  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry to hear that! I cant say if it will help you or not, but your injury is something that the BPC-157 could help with. We usually add in TB4 for our biggest cases (such as a pet tear) or if there is scar tissue.
      At some point you'll want to load the tissues (exercise) but you don't want to rush that. Take it slow, and slowly overload as tolerable. If you still have issues at the 6-9 month mark you could consider looking into regenerative injections

      @@DrewTimmermansND thanks for the informative video. I have recent injuries that happened ( within the last 6 months) , elbow, wrist and Achilles heel from my gym time and tennis. My question is what kind of medical practitioner would I need to visit to get the prp injections prior to starting bpc orally?
      And can you suggest genuinely good oral brand I can get? Hopefully without a prescription. My GP is very conservative and reluctant to start any treatments I discuss.
