    I have a 2017 dct
It’s amazing that Honda has went head to head with bmw and ktm and in 4 short years have surpassed what they have been doing for decades. Thanks Honda👍

How do you figure, compete with ktm? Not a chance. In the off road enviroment the 790 blows it away. An off road bike at no time is 1000cc and/or 500 plus lbs of metal. Hopefully honda and the others do one day make an off road, single rider more dirt adventure bike. The AT is not that bike. Good bike for other reason, I do have one, but if honda was out to make a performance off road adventure bike even they would not use a 1000cc motor.

Honda quality vs ktm quality speaks for itself . ive had ktm was a absolute lack of quality. and why do i see all these problems with the 790 popping up on youtube oil leaks electical etc . NOBODY can convince me to EVER own another ktm .

Yes Honda is more reliable we all know. However I never had a prob with my ducati mts 1100 in ten years. My dct 2016 AT refused to go last week as it didn’t get into D. The dealer doesn’t know why there is a clonking noise at strart from the gearbox. The left front indicator is misty.... So am I looking fwd to my 8k trip to Georgia and Azerbaijan? Well I do but the question is what bike should I take.

how many miles do you have on yours im at almost 12000 miles and the only time i had issue is when i used full synthetic drained it and the problem disappeared

@@laszlomolnar8121 apparently there is a good reset (DCT) procedure that you can do yourself that smooths out the gear changes on the DCT. It is a legitimate Honda procedure and strangely a lot of owners are not aware of it. Guy on TH-cam call ‘Exeter Rider’ has it on his channel for his NC750.

This is like the 6th review of this bike in the same location this month and you can even see the other Jornos in the shots. Great marketing from Honda UK.

It's interesting that they had you using TC off-road. A lot of reviewers complain about how difficult it is to switch off TC and ABS, where the earlier pre-TFT models had a simple switch on the dash to click, that would stay clicked or unclicked between restarts. Now you have to deactivate it any time you switch off and on again, and it's buried down in the settings menu on the gold screens - but if TC-on offroading is actually quite good, I guess that's no biggie, right?

Great question. Really. Sadly, the answer is… it depends. Which is no answer at all. I got stuck going up a field of baby head rocks (Ophir pass, Co, USA). Dry conditions, good tires, heavy loaded with luggage and a fat rider (me). No matter what setting I used I wasn’t getting out. When I first got the bike I went up a moderate dirt hill with no luggage in dry conditions. Not sand or loose. Just hard packed dirt. I had the throttle wide open and I crawled up the hill so slow I had trouble keeping balance. It was weird. 1150cc bike, throttle wide open and I’m slowly lurching my way up a hill my grandmother could’ve walked up. It sucked. Looking back, I must’ve had traction control set to much. I would’ve had far more fun trying it again today 2 years later setting TC much lower and ripping up the hill with some tire spin. So I don’t disagree with video that TC off road CAN prevent excessive slip while allowing enough slip to keep momentum up. He’s right m, it CAN. But the variables are almost innumerable to have confidence if you are riding unknown trails with varying conditions. If you run the same trail and know the conditions I think through trial and error you’ll learn for that trail you need settings at a level you like. But if you are exploring unknown trails like a BDR over multiple days where terrain and weather change my preference is too disable TC and out the bike in manual mode. I’m this way I get all the advantages of easily shifting standing up, quickly and instantly fixing my gear if I screwed up and was caught in too high a gear and at the same time I get all the advantages of more traditional bikes where I can use throttle control to respond to blips in tire traction. I wish Honda offered a local course in how to ride this. The bike is an engineering marvel and I don’t think they could’ve done it better. But I agree with Brett Tkacs, this bike isn’t for newbies. Quite the opposite.
