Thai general election: Can Move Forward Party make a splash like Future Forward Party?

  • Future Forward Party, which made a splash at the last Thai elections in 2019, may now be defunct, but in its place is the Move Forward Party looking to make the same impact. Despite the new name, it has the same liberal-progressive ideology - almost radical by Thai standards and drawing the ire of Thai conservatives. CNA's Saksith Saiyasombut reports.

I am 53 years old Thai. We have learned a lot from our political history. I never see Thai people alert to vote like this coming election because of most of us want to change our country by supporting the Moving Forward Party (MFP). Not only MFP's straightforward direction to against dictators and more than 300 policies that covering issues in Thailand but also we believe that they have clear background and intention to eliminate corruption from our country. We hope that our brighter and better future will be happen in Thailand after we have Pita Limjaroenrat as our new PM.

Thai politics will never be stable until the Constitution adequately reflects the will of the people and not the wealthy, privileged, and military. Abolishing the reserved seats the military maintain in parliament would be a welcome start.

We’ve already seen a big change in what’s happening in the country. Previously, districts with big military bases that houses non-commissioned soldiers have always sided with the military government. However, in this election most of those districts have turned orange (meaning they voted for MFP) and a coup is unlikely (although not impossible) to happen again if the soldiers needed in said coup are not willing to comply.

A military government is good if you need to restore law and order. However, they will break the economy if they are longer in responsibility, as they have no clue about it.
I am not sure if it's good to have Shinawatra family involved in the government. Everything that has the whole family and relatives involved is dubious to me. You chose the best person for the job, not the wife, sister or the daughter.

Pheu Thai and Move Forward should band together. Also, about time that the establishment be challenged with the repeal of the Lese Majeste Law. A power sharing deal between Paetongtarn and Pita would do well for the whole Thailand. Tomorrow, Pita will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with his coalition. It remains to be seen whether the senators under the control of the dictatorship will support Pita's candidacy as prime minister. Additionally, there is anticipation regarding the judges' decision on whether Pita's ownership of a small fraction, specifically 0.0012% (42,000 shares out of 4,000,000,000 shares), in a media company will affect his eligibility. The outcome of these events will determine whether democracy prevails over dictatorship. It is advised to closely monitor these developments.

They don't promote as the government which gives food and things to citizens only in election days, this party is made of young people who want a change, here in thai we can't have good jobs or good lives because they are taken by the government party

The party is probably the poorest of the front runners, also, concerning about money from outside is a bit bizarre since we have parties that directly supported by the mafia network and the military. I mean what can be worse that that?

@Tarrin, worse than that is being supported by the US.. There are no bigger criminals and killers than the US and that's a fact! How many nations have they destroyed, how many people have the killed?

People and politicians will never change what looks fresh and hopefully will sooner or later be made corrupt and tarnished when power is received or taken. That's the political cycle all parties go through, its a matter of time.

Today the result is proving what piyabutr said about the widefire. But for Thai, the real democracy is not easy but we will fight them, 250 senators by coup🫵 who dare to against 20 millions people.
