    Dear Ashkan Fardost,
    Your talk is really excellent, a treat about how to give a presentation and convey ones viewpoint convincingly. Your dress style shows your are simple but very intelligent, your research into the way man progressed from 25,000 years to date is also put very wonderfully. You are a great person. Thank you for this talk. Chetan

    You have left out a point. You started as an artist musician. The primitive man started as an artist painting on the cave walls. What happens when technology diminishes the human need to express beauty and emotion in artistic ways? What happens when art is trumped by utility in this internet/cloud space? Excellent visionary talk. thank you

      +CONJURE HOODOO Why would art be trumped by utility? All through history people have used new technology to expand art and create new ways of expressing themselves.

    • @conjurehoodoo8529
      @conjurehoodoo8529 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Art is not deemed useful in our society, and technology and the cloud of things do not value aesthetics and beauty in and of themselves, only insofar as they are "useful." Of what use is art?

    • @MrC0MPUT3R
      @MrC0MPUT3R 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      CONJURE HOODOO You can make that argument in any period of time. What made art useful to a caveman? It didn't feed him. It didn't keep him warm. If anything a caveman would be more likely to forsake art and focus on more utilitarian things.

    • @conjurehoodoo8529
      @conjurehoodoo8529 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You make my point. "If anything we humans would be more likely to forsake art and focus on more utilitarian things." I certainly see that happening, with technology making this more possible (and probable). What is the inherent value of art vis a vis technology? The utility of Ashkan's musical creations - in themselves, his art? In this society the perception is that art is pretty much useless, unless it can be sold.

    It's astonishing to think what's gonna happen when all these novel technolegies interpenetrate and integrate in one meta-system.
    Just take the huge-ones:
    1)VR
    2)Augmented Reality
    3)IOT
    4)Clean energy
    5)AI
    6)Brain interface and sensory systems augmentation.
    If these 6 would run altogether it's unimaginable what world it becomes.

    Hi, I am not a native English speaker. There are some words that I could not catch. Can anyone help me?
    At 0: 55: .... and to make electronic music, you had to get these (something sounds like madgo),
    and then he showed an electronic machine which could create piano sound or echo effects.

    • @ashkanfardost8682

      +Lana Nguyen I'm not a native English speaker either, so I apologise for my pronunciation! The word I'm saying is "modules". It's all of the effect and instrument modules that were required to create electronic music back then, such as the Novation SuperNova: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novation_Supernova

    Highly informative video, with a call to action. Here's my answer:
    My project to use accelerated technology is part advertising vehicle, part social and natural data mining, user-populated database via video, photography, print. Perhaps it already exists, in some shape, but if not, I'm working on it. It's rather like Google maps, but less bossy.
    Creates local, regional, national, hell, yes, global community of info sharing.
    It goes something like this:
    WhereUR: first person postal code submission, email prompts to upload/post and share, where users can add their info to a variety of options (see WhereUB)
    WhereUGO: user postal code search; email prompts new uploads/posts and shares - where users find first person posted info in a variety of options. (see Where UB)
    WhereUB: map based search by category with first person posted results index, categories: photos, videos, stories - fact, fiction, somewhere in between: news, weather, road conditions, natural world (trees, other plants, birds, animals, rivers, streams), entertainment, science, travel, accommodations, restaurants, parties, events. etc.
    Currently in idea phase, now know it's worth checking into the technology Ashkan presents.
    I welcome feedback and/or development discussions. Cheers.

      Thank you! I'm actually excited about computers learning to have their own thoughts and imagination. Imagine the possibilities if we could collaborate with intelligent machines to solve many of our biggest problems, such as global warming and energy production? Or work together to develop technologies that would allows us to travel between planets and different star systems? Of course there is a risk, because such intelligent machines could be used for evil purposes, but I think the benefits outweigh the risks :)

      This whole thing about security is important and I hoped more detail would of been given on how some kind of privacy would be maintained. Although if we chose to buy this kind of technology we must accept a a loss of some privacy. David Crandell, I don't think this stuff is aimed at you. We must find some kind of balance between sharing our personal 'Internet of things' without going too far. For example, a friend of mine who watched this talk with me is a medical professional and said it would be hard (in his opinion) for one of these wrist devices to differentiate between a minor heart attack and.. having sex. Imagine an ambulance arriving.

    They don't drive better than human beings do. Otherwise they would be already released on the market. There is a ton of stuff they can't compute yet... Real life situations that can't be computed fast enouf to get a good reaction of the car. Humans are much better at taking intuitive desisions in fractions of seconds at really difficult problems that involve a lot of data. Once we will be able to use a quantum processor in those cars. Then they will be market ready. Because they compute as fast as the non concious part of the brain.
