    If you have not done it already it's a good idea to swap out the turbo oil feed line while your in there as it connects to the block behind the rear heat shield beside 2 of the oil filter housing bolts. Use the upgraded crimped braided steel hose and not the garbage OEM one which will fail again.

      I would if it was leaking.

      @@DGAutohaus It's a cheap part, it eventually leaks and the work is identical (substantial) to get to the block. No brainer.

    Thanks for this video. I'm doing this job along with a new front crankshaft seal next weekend. Can you clarify why the coolant needed to be drained? Does coolant run through the oil filter housing to cool the oil?

      Yes it does. You don’t have to drain it but i try to get as much coolant out as possible for the repair. When you pull the housing up coolant will dump out

    Did you not change both sets of gaskets on the oil filter housing while you were in there?

    • @DGAutohaus
      @DGAutohaus  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, it wasn’t leaking

      @@DGAutohaus OK but again with the time/labour involved it makes sense to swap out both 👍🏼 Full set of gaskets for both sides costs £10 - £15

      @@tm2204 in 10 years I’ve only ever seen one leak so no. And if it did leak after the repair I’d replace it for free. That job takes 45 min to do.

    What would the torque spec on the 4 8mm bolts be on the oil filter housing? I read 18 ft lbs somewhere and snapped a bolt 🥲

      That seems a little high. I just use a little 1/4 inch ratchet and make them snug

      9 ft lbs or 12 Nm

    How much time It would take someone that hasn’t done it a lot like you have ?

      I think my first time was bout 3 or 4 hours but on a lift. That was minimal experience too.
