In this Longplay/Walkthrough video, i'm playing and showing a thorough and detailed guide about how to complete the Sega Genesis version of Streets of Rage 2 [USA] by playing as Max "Thunder" Hatchett from the beginning to the very end on the Hardest difficulty setting.

YO~ That was *clean!* Hardest difficulty, no damage even once no matter how tight some spots were! I know I'm just spouting the obvious, but still, to relive my childhood (I mained Max too) with this man basically All Mighting everybody so fluidly! Throw this guy over the other guy nonstop just like that, and again no damage--this is what invincibility looks like! This is how I would've loved to play through the whole game when I was still a child.
I always used Max. Best move was when he would grab the enemy from behind and literally break their ass 😂
Me too. I loved the German Suplex and would always scream with joy whenever I grab an enemy from behind.

It was the best move indeed, especially when you landed on a bunch of enemies so they all took damage. Soooo satisfying

I haven't played this game with my kids in years, so it was great to see it again. Whoever it was playing with Max (and I chose Max most of the time) in this game was awesome and an absolutely kick-ass! Not once was Max hit, lose a life or hardly picked up a weapon. He didn't even have to eat to live! I am impressed; that was so cool, and on the hardest level, too!
With max, you can use the pipe and sword! You don't have to turn around to hit the opponent! It strikes them as they get too close to your back. Only with max though
I'm impressed you completed with Max without taking damage from the syndicate thugs and bosses and even Mr X himself or losing any lives and on the hardest difficulty setting.
Max is powerful making him good for battling big bosses despite being slow. Especially Zamza, stage 3 boss, Bear the boxer, stage 5 boss and Abadede, stage 4 boss.
yeah, Max is basically a boss character himself that is playable.

@@sirtieman I noticed that Max is consistently top-tier in every single game he appears in: 2, Remake and 4 give him strengths that makes him surpass almost everybody else! Despite being the slow, but strong archetype, Max has always been overpowered in some way in whatever game he is playable in!

Max was my favorite character.
He would've been too slow to be practical, if not for his ridiculously OP slide-kick. He could spam it to travel across the board almost as fast as Skate, and because of it's temp-invulnerability and hit pattern, you could slide into an enemy and immediately grab and body slam them. One of the very rare situations where the 'Slow & Heavy' is great, if not the best.
The sound of the back breaker/pipe hit sounds awesome 😎😎😎💪👊💪👊.

Wow! This brings so many memories. However, I noticed that you never bothered to grab the chicken during the R. Bear fight on the ship. Such a shame, really. Other than that, such memorable music by Koshiro. Nice one!

Makes me laugh on the last level when you meet Bear Jr. It's like Max thinks "I'm bored of suplexing and backbreaking. I'm gonna beat your ass with this pipe instead." Then in the elevator, "Right, break's over. Back to it!" 🤣🤣🤣

Forgot the forward facing, pressing back, throw called the "Perfect-Plex". RIP Curt Henning.
Also forgot the neutral hold, attack x4 (2 punches followed by headbutt - which I called the "coconut crunch!" Attack, but i would later call it the "Lama Nama Numé!" -- if you've ever watched an old-school extreme wrestling that was dubbed by the Insane Clown Possé, you'd understand why that name stuck in my head even after all these years.)

Just a suggestion try the Elbow drop more often you can do backbreakers more because that's Max's way of getting behind opponents he uses the elbow drop for getting behind opponents if you time it correctly you can do a back breaker almost every time.

If this is a legitimate run then this is truly amazing. But it’s weird that some of the enemies don’t hit you when your back is turned. Case in point the Phoenix kick boxers on the lift and the robots on the top of the lift

I take it doing the grab moves you just gotta get close to em? Or do you also homd a certain direction with the d pad?
How is it you can grab the claw boss? Whenever i try he just slashes me instead. (I don't hold onto him)
Different version of the game. Grabs might be impossible on the claw enemies in the US version. If not they may as well be.
Cant wait for Streets of Rage 4, even if the homie Skate isn't in the game

But what about the explosion in 56:34, why didn't it damage Max ?
@@mohyaldin6492 yeah that's definitely strange. He was right there and didn't take damage. What's even more wierd is that in some sections when enemies get close to him they don't attack and just stand there like dumb idiots. When I play even on normal difficulty, if you give enemies a slight opening to attack they'll quickly go for a jab

@TurkishBullet119 What are the buttons when enemies throw you while you're in the air? It's just that I've been having a big question about the button for the character to stay upright... In this case I play Streets of rage on Ps3

If you get thrown (8:54 for example) press and hold "Up + Jump" buttons in air to land on your feet and take no damage.

How much positioning practice does this need? I never really looked at positioning. Guess this is one of the reasons why i always lost in the 8th level. So you have to know position weaknesses of your enemies in this game too. Can one win it on "hardest" just by "playing"? I mean without really, really sophisticated tricks? We´ll see.
But your reflexes was great even if the video was edited for example time 1:02:15 . The Shiva special move had no effect on you. Or special move doesn't loss health of you! Or Mr x machingun does not hurt you in middle of stage

I can guarantee and assure you that absolutely nothing was edited in my Longplay video. The only thing which I added in my Longplay video is the Watermark which shows my TH-cam Username.
Anyway, a STATIONARY special attack only drains your life if you hit an enemy with it, a DIRECTED special attack always drains your life.
I did not use the STATIONARY or the DIRECTED special attack on the enemies in my Longplay videos of Streets of Rage 2.
The bullets, special attacks or shurikens from the enemies will not hit you, if you use the STATIONARY special attack when you are about to get hit.
All the oldschool and experienced players know these tricks.
How level 5 boss the wrestler let you punch him?

You mean "Abadede", the boss of Stage 4.
You can do an attack combo on him "SOMETIMES" and not always since he does an enraged muscle flex to counter attacks.
If you have noticed, I have performed Max's grappling moves most of the time while I was fighting him.
I remember when I brought my first Sega genesis this game came with it I played this game all hours as a kid lol my favorite character on here is big ben he shoots the flames out of hes mouth then he flys and smashes you with hes big stomach 😂😂😂

No, I have played it on my Personal Computer through an Multi-System Emulator called "Mednafen" while recording this Longplay.

@@TurkishBullet19 The popular Saturn emulator, right? Never heard of it for Genesis gaming, for that I keep hearing about Kega Fusion and Genesis Plus GX. used to use SSF, and was thinking about looking into Mednafen for Saturn emulation.
Lately I do most of my Genesis gaming on an 2018 Atgames Legends I bought on clearance for 20 dollars. I believe it uses Genesis GX Plus. Loaded it up with the Steam Genesis and Megadrive rom collection I bought for 10 a few Christmas's ago.
A clone Genesis system for 30 bucks, including clone gamepads. Not a bad deal.

Yes, it's the famous and original Sega Saturn Emulator alongside Sony PlayStation, Nintendo Virtual Boy, and NEC PC Engine (known as TurboGrafx-16 in North America).
Mednafen emulates the Sega Mega Drive / Sega Genesis platform also. Its core is based on Genesis Plus GX.

Btw, I just discovered a little rom hack in the Steamworks area called The Bare Knuckle 3 project, which has Max in it. :)
They also have a Streets of Rage 3 project, but no Max in it, only fixes to the difficulty and bug fixes.

That is not a cheat or hack.
If you get thrown (8:54 for example), press and hold "Up + C" in air to safely land on your feet and take no damage. A lot of Players know this "Landing Trick".
