  • My method of attaching the Mosko Reckless 80 onto the KTM 790 R. This particular method has worked great and proved to be bullet proof in all sorts or terrain.

    I love reading all the comments, its as if people don't actually pay attention to what you say, then apparently do not actually read the other comments either :). People are lazy these days, I am surprised someone hasn't just asked you to come out and install these for them...heck, ride the bike for them and send them the video, and be sure it is edited to some music of their bike looking cool while you're at it. Its a Friday of a long week, rant over, sorry. Thanks for the great and informative content, looking forward to more, my 890R comes in January, decision to go with the KTM over other options was made easier by watching videos like yours!

    For those curious about the rear luggage rack, in the video he calls it a “Prerun” rack when it is actually “Perun” from Perun Moto. That will help if searching for one.

    I was gonna go with a outback pannier rack system but they’re back ordered, looked on the mosko website they’re sold out so I’ll just wait. Gonna go with this style set up. It just makes more sense. Thanks for the video!

    thanks for this! I am one of the idiots that looped the R80 dry bags straps over on top since I've had them 🤦🏻‍♂️
    I agree 100% - this is an awesome system. I use the 40L duffle instead of the stinger 22L since my sleeping bag is a bit on the bulky side.

    I like your set up. Thinking about getting the Mosko Moto for my KTM 890 Adventure also. I was thinking about removing the side covers and installing a Perunmoto luggage rail and tube on each side for extra fuel cannisters or tools.

    Very straight forward on how to mount the R80 and bags and nice video. I wrap then strap some turns on the pass.pegs just to ge less movements (what I guess), You think it's fine with just one wrap around?

      Hi, I never had any issues with mine without a heat shield. As I recall I got the floor jack from Sears. It's just an aluminum body ATV/MC jack.

    • @Windblown
      @Windblown  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm using the Cycra Pro-bends and they have held up great, I have after market bars mounted though. The stock bars have a little more sweep so the Cycras (and most others) might have to be tweeked slightly when installing to account for that if using the stock bars.

    • @Windblown

      You could certainy pull it pretty far back but not sure it would give the passenger much room. Sorry I can't answer for sure. Never tired it.

  • @FanOWater
    @FanOWater 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did you decide not to use the heat shield? I didn't see it in the video. I have the same bike and the same luggage, btw and love how they work. Cheers

    • @Windblown
      @Windblown  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After a test fit and run with it I opted to not install the heat shield and didn't have any issues during a long trip with it. The holster on the exhaust side sits just far enough forward to catch the OEM shield and this was enough. If I moved the bags back any further I would want the heat shield for sure.

    Enjoyed the vid. I’ll be pulling the trigger on a Reckless 80 once we’re beyond the pandemic-related closures, and back at trip planning. Do you have a tent already packed in this setup? What kind? Also, how do you like that motorcycle jack? Which is it? Thanks for putting up the vid!

    • @Windblown
      @Windblown  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tom, Yep the tent is in there. I'm currently using is an Alps Lynx 1 man tent. I pack it in the top bag with sleeping bag, air mattress etc and a few other misc lightweight camp things. I picked up the Alps before my last trip when my MSR Hubba Hubba 2 man tent was starting to show it's age and fall apart. Both tents are self supporting back packing style tents and weigh about the same and also pack down to about the same size.
      In short - The Alps is considerably cheaper, not as roomy, and a bit heavier built. The MSR uses lighter weight materials, is more roomy, has bigger rain flys to store stuff out of the weather, and is a bit cooler to sleep in which can be a good or bad thing depending on the weather. Glad you found the video helpful. I may do some others while we're locked down on other bike mods I've done and why.

    • @Windblown
      @Windblown  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yeah, and the motorcycle jack works fine. It's just a Sear Motorcycle/ATV jack. Hasn't done anything to piss me off so I like it fine. :)

    I like your bracket on the left side. Does anyone make anything like that for someone with less fabrication skills?
    How does the soft luggage do on the exhaust side with heat?

    • @Windblown
      @Windblown  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I haven't seen a stand off for the left side commercially produced but have seen a few other takes on the concept. The luggage does fine with the exhaust but it depends on how far back you mount it whether another shield is needed. The stock shield on the exhaust keeps it from laying on the muffler as long as you don't mount it too far back.

    • @sjoerdspieker
      @sjoerdspieker 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perun makes a bracket (for the other side too if you want). To that bracket you can mount a toolbag or similar. See www.perunmoto.com/blogs/blog/mosko-moto-reckless-80-revolver-on-ktm-790-adventure-r

    Nice and easy set-up. sits relatively far forward, which is good for weight distribution. Could you mount this system without the rear luggage rack? I see the bags barely touch the rack, but you use it to tie it down.

    • @Windblown
      @Windblown  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could probably make do with the stock rack. It has two slits in the back for straps but the piece under the rack would need to be shaved a bit in oder to run the straps through easily and I'm not sure how long it would hold up since it's just plastic. But any rack that offers secure tie down points would work. Might even be able to get some D rings to mount under the rear most bolts to strap to with the stock rack.

    • @sritter
      @sritter 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same Perun and Reckless 80 setup. I also use Andy Strapz luggage support racks to give some bike protection and keep the bag off pipe and as support on LH side. But I reckon you could use without any rear rack (the stock rack is no plastic - it is a heavy cast metal thing - I know as I put Perun on a few weeks ago)

    Unrelated to the bags , but what tires are those and how do they perform overall?

    • @Windblown
      @Windblown  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ken, The rear is a Motoz Adventure H/T. It holds up longer than a full on dirt tire on a big powerful bike and it gets a bite in the dirt better than most ADV tires. It's manners on the street are ok, but nothing to write home about. Solid tire choice when the priority is tire life and dirt performance. Can't make out what I happened to have on the front at the time. Probably a Pirelli Scorpion Rally which again is a good choice if dirt is the priority and holds up ok on the street (for an aggressive tire).

    Can this mount further back on the rack to allow a passenger

    • @Windblown
      @Windblown  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never tried it. IMO the design doesn't lend itself to being used 2-up because by the time you get the top bag back far enough to accommodate a passenger the side holsters would be very far back on the bike.

    Hey! I have a Norden Expedition and can’t decide between the Reckless 80 and Outback rack system. Interesting to see you remove the plastic panels and grab rails. My questions are : how can u pick up the bike without the grab handles and what is the total width of those set up? Do you have a comparable width for the Outback system?

    • @Windblown
      @Windblown  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I usually lift the bike from the handlebars rather than use a front and rear hold. I have no idea what the width is. Not mounted at the moment. I've heard good things about the outback system but haven't tried it.
