    Great testimonial, do you get your keratin/smoothing treatments done by a professional? Here in the U.S. Texture Release is to ONLY be done by a licensed professional.

    Thank you for this update! I’m thinking of getting a keratin treatment for this summer so I can have easier to detangle curls.

    Hey girl!!!! We’ve missed you. Love your videos so much.
    I am like you, I bleach and also keratin.
    But I only bleach once a year. And I do the aphogee 2-step every single month religiously. Also, I only do 2 passes during the keratin treatment at 390deg on my roots and one pass on the length with way less heat. And I only wear my hair curly. So best of luck with your gorg curls 🫶🏼

    This is so helpful! I’ve also been noticing that my hairdryer can get really hot. It’s so tempting to use the max heat to get through it as soon as possible but I’m going to more mindful now, thanks!

    Oh thank goodness you’re back lol -
    I’m trying to understand this process.
    If you stop bleaching do you think it would resolve the breakage?
    My recommendation- shampoo weekly and deep condition (Protien/moisture). Style your wash and go. Use products that are Salon type for curls. Heat protection add on and be gentle with the blow dryer - a new affordable one is fine.
    What product are you using ?

      Aw you're so lovely! Sorry it's taken me so long! It can be confusing- so I don't actually think it was the bleach that was the issue - i first noticed it on the blonde sections, but after I did the clarifying shampoo I felt it across my whole hair (even the darker sections). So I've now swapped out my cantu conditioner for the Shea Moisture 10 in 1 mask and my hair is feeling much healthier. I've also given my hair a break from keratin treatments and heat for a bit, but am keen to do another one soon as my hair is back to taking forever to detangle- wash day can take hours 😧

      @@KeratinandCurls i love seeing product reviews. It would be interesting to see what products you use on your wash and go styles as the keratin leaves your hair.
      Side note - any color or bleach you add to your hair - i high recommend a deep conditioner to counter the dryness- which can cause breakage. I color my hair and must on a weekly shampoo basis apply deep conditioner- (shea moisture manuka intense deep co./. Ouai deep conditioner, etc). Also, I recommend spending a bit on your products as it is an investment on your hair) - you’ll see a wonderful change :) - peace !

      So sorry to hear this :( also have the same questions as @STP255- which treatment did you use and how much heat?
      For me the thing that made the difference was the Aphrogee 2 step protein treatment- as that restored the strength back to my hair x

    • @shiningstar7775
      @shiningstar7775 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      This is so sad to hear. I hope your hair is in better shape now.
      Sadly I see this happen a lot and even had this happen to me until I switched hairdresser and they told me that my previous hairdresser had been 'over-processing' my hair.
      This happens when you overlap the Keratin treatment on previously treated hair too often.
      In South America where they specialise in Keratin treatments on Afro and Afro Latino hair, they avoid overlapping the treatment on previously treated hair too often. Instead they assess the hair and will only add the treatment to the ends say once a year when they can see it has begun to completely 'wear out from the hair' and instead will only pull the treatment through at the end for say 5-10 minutes instead of the full 30-40 minutes during a treatment to 'top up' the keratin layer. Otherwise you end up with over processed aka 'heat damage', which is effectively dead hair.
      This is why it's called "Escova Progressiva" in Brazil, which roughly translates as 'Progressive Blow-dry' in English, as gradually overtime you are weakening the bonds in your hair to make it straighter and straighter. As type 3 hair that has a stronger outer cuticle and good tensile strength, this is not as big a problem, but with say type 4 hair, you will see greater irreversible damage.
      Also in the salon they use titanium instead of ceramic straighteners which can get much hotter i.e. temps of 450+. You should ask your hairdresser to keep the temp around the 400-410 degree mark and use a good heat protectant to protect your strands. A skilled stylist will still get amazing results. Also, never buy titanium for home use, instead stick to ceramic GHD's etc and keep your temps at 390-400 degrees and a heat protectant to protect your hairs integrity.
      A lot of rogue hairdressers will ignore these rules and literally 'fry your hair' to get that ultra straight bouncy look, but over time your hair will stop bouncing when it has been fried enough.....
      Also if you're doing BKT's or any other sort of heat infused amino-acid treatments like Texture Release or Arosci etc, then you need to up your conditioning game, just as with any other chemical service to allow you to strengthen the hair and infuse moisture. So this would involve regular medium protien deep conditioning treatments 1-2x a month (i.e. Aphogee 2 minute) and occasional heavy duty protein 1-2x a year (i.e. Aphogee 2 Step).
      And then follow or mix with a intense moisturising treatment that will keep your hair hydrated.
      I think people need to think of it as developing a skin routine - the protein is the 'treatment' and the moisturiser keeps your skin plum and hydrated.

    Hair color damages the hair. To put a keratin treatment on damaged ends, would cause breakage and shedding. Try oiling the hair or hot oil treatments, once a week.

      @shiningstar7775 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@reneerobinson5273 Can I ask why you say that ? Have been getting texture releases 2-3x a year now for the last 3+ years at a great salon in SW London (owner has a channel here on TH-cam).
      I also get a semi-perm colour and Olaplex treatment 2-3 weeks after the Texture Release.
      My hair is now mid back length and much thicker than 3-4 years ago when I was struggling with my hair (I have type 4 hair).
      If anything the olaplex works in synergy with the two texture release and colour.

      I am glad to hear that it has supported your hair to a better place. Unfortunately for me the olaplex treatment no3 along with other products mixed with the Avalon texture release made worst in the sense that all the moisture left my hair and it just stayed in a dry state which caused it to break. However using the keratin revolution put the moisture back into my hair and my hair was able to absorb oil again this help my air to in a moisturised state and I saw a decrease in breakage. I guess everyone hair reacts differently to things. Now I can use olaplex and I have no problems with it drying my hair. So that’s why I say Avalon and olaplex doesn’t work for me.

      @@reneerobinson5273 The Texture Release is not a traditional Keratin Treatment as it uses 'Amino Acids' in lieu of Keratin. Not sure if that is 100% true or just marketing spiel.
