so sad. my college graduation was here, i saw many pisons, vipers games as well as concerts... it was a great stadium with easy safe parking close to the nicer areas of SE Mich
By watching this video this place seemed like it was not that old, lots of redone stuff just to be destroyed. A lot more years of good use could have happened here as well as keeping history.
Sweet video, I got a chance to see the palace one last time on the inside too and seeing the vacant seats was such an eerie sight. Made for some cool pictures though
Such a nice facility to be torn down, damn shame. Figured they would have sold it to Oakland University for cheap would have been a great place for them to have events, games and still be able to have them lease it out for concerts Etc
Thanks for posting this video. I drove in from Pittsburgh to see two Springsteen shows in 1999. I remember thinking that this isn’t an arena, it must be a mall next to the arena. Rather sad it had to go. The price of progress I suppose.
Was silverdome area wetland? I had friends who used it as their birt bike track backin the day. I know palace location was a nice natural spot (except for the trash hill)
I was there too! At the gas station. I had to watch for myself for I am having a hard time believing that this was for the best. I’ve been in every damn spot of this building for I had to dust all the walls, clean all high vents, and clean the windows from 2006 to about 2010. This building was in amazing shape with a roof barely 10 years old. They really took care of it and all of us vendors did as well! Basically this is where I learned almost all of my profession and spent many months out of the year there. I’m sure they could have made due with the building and repurposed it just as easy, and still would have represented the history that was made within.
Although The Palace is much nicer, I was always more of a Joe Louis fan. It's sad as the Palace was still a state of the art arena is being ripped down and what a waste!
Little Caesars arena is cool, but I’m still baffled why the pistons left the palace. I understand the location wasn’t the best, but it still Seemed like a decent venue, especially for something built in the late 80s. I thought the pistons would be here for at least 20 more years
For those of us in north Oakland & lapeer counties it was a great location.i honestly wont go to Detroit to see a show or game. Not because its detroit, just too far for my interest level.
ahh a fello palace worker i see i worked on the 3rd shift housekeeping from 2005-2014 . i enjoyed working here to me it never felt like work heh anyone who worked here before 2010 that far breakroom was a smokers room workers were pissed when they took the door off. i will really miss the place . godbless palace sports and entertaiment .
I been to the palace to Disney On Ice. Can I have that property so I can build my Junior Wonderland For Kids Children's Entertainment Or My Center For Kids Teens And Adults.
This place is absolutely immaculate compared to the Silverdome which was a dump and left to rot not too sure why A building like this that was remodeled just like to Wells Fargo center was in Philadelphia new seats 💺 very clean and nice waste of money
I won't miss it. Glad they're back in Detroit.. Causing unnecessary traffic jams at M24/I75. No actual entertainment area to go to after an event..There is nothing about it that is even partly nostalgic.
It's a beautiful arena but you are right though. It's out in the middle of *north bumfuck no-mans land* and led to seldom usage and no one is willing to drive an hour to see poor play this past decade. Couldn't blame the owner getting the land for cheap but location important
so sad. my college graduation was here, i saw many pisons, vipers games as well as concerts... it was a great stadium with easy safe parking close to the nicer areas of SE Mich
My high school graduation was here and so was my wife's graduation here
:( ... thanks for showing this. The Palace is very nostalgic for me
Seeing the building like this makes me angry knowing that it could had many more decades of use.
Jalen M. for real man
Absolutely, the Pistons never should have moved downtown again.
By watching this video this place seemed like it was not that old, lots of redone stuff just to be destroyed. A lot more years of good use could have happened here as well as keeping history.
A waste of a great area.
100% agree
One of the most beautiful arenas ever demolished
Wow their locker room just recently renovated before moving to Little Ceasars Pizza arena amazing! R.I.P. The Palace of Aruban Hills 1988-2017
Beautiful arena built in the wrong place. My goodness, this was good for another 20 years. Crazy
For us folks who lived up north of m59 it was great. I'm 30 miles north of palace location and will probably never attend another arena event.
Sweet video, I got a chance to see the palace one last time on the inside too and seeing the vacant seats was such an eerie sight. Made for some cool pictures though
I used to go to the palace all the time as a kid brought back memories such a shame they tore it down looks brand new
It was very nice inside. Plus an almost new practice facility on the property.
I have another video up of a final walkthrough before it was emptied out.
I worked there as senior engineer for several live music video recordings for the bands dvd's
I remember standing on the court after a game back in 2016, not even knowing that they would close their doors only a few months later :(
Such a nice facility to be torn down, damn shame. Figured they would have sold it to Oakland University for cheap would have been a great place for them to have events, games and still be able to have them lease it out for concerts Etc
A good idea!
That was the option I wanted for the building. Made many happy memories there, sad thinking about the future
Its a very nice facility but so is little ceaers arena
I've been there for so many concerts and one pistons game it's sad to see it like this and knowing it will be gone for ever
I spent so much time here. This is sad.

A disgrace for all the beautiful wetland they destroyed building it just for it to be demolished so soon. Same with the Silverdome.
Was silverdome area wetland? I had friends who used it as their birt bike track backin the day. I know palace location was a nice natural spot (except for the trash hill)
The wastage in America is beyond belief. You could have sold this as a going concern en bloc to anywhere in the UK and it would be state of the art.
I went to watch it get demolished today... I was crying it was my whole childhood 🥺
I just posted a demolition video. My son david did the filming from the bar across the street. Were you there?
daryl turcott i was by like the gas station

Spooky! 👻👻👻👻👻
💔😢😭💔
This is such a cool video thank you so much sharing. However it is so sad to see it go such a waste.
I agree.
Its actually still a nice arena.
Nice video, while you were filming every once in a while I thought I seen Big Foot lurking around in the shadows. 😳
One of the last workers there
How were you able to get around the place without being seen? It looked like a lot of people were there by how many cars were in the parking lot.
Had business in office, then just wandered in.
I worked at the Palace the last year
Your video was really cool. I have been there in its hay day. Thank you for showing this.
Is it still being demolished / destroyed with the coronavirus or is that being put on hold? Thanks.
How far is the hall from the city of Detroit itself?
Maybe 20 miles from downtown Detroit
@@darylturcott And the hall is in the suburbs of Detroit?

I live 30 miles north of palace, I'll never go to an event at lca.
November 19, 2004.. A day that will live in infamy.

@@darylturcott I agree with you there I really enjoyed going to the Palace. My last event there was a TSO concert n it was a blast !!!
Damn really? Warped tour used to be there.

Wow this is the second one that was demolished in Detroit.first one being Pontiac silverdome
It being demolished today brought me here
I posted a video of the actual demolition today
Did you sneak in ?
Sort of, had business in office. Asked security if I could have a quick look around on my way out. He went with me
It is close??
Yes, half demolished now
I been to the palace to Disney On Ice. Can I have that property so I can build my Junior Wonderland For Kids Children's Entertainment Or My Center For Kids Teens And Adults.
It looks perfect so why destroy it?
New arena , they want to build offices there
@@darylturcott Such a waste of a building.

10:30 so is know one going to acknowledge the there's another dude there
It wasn't a secret there was someone with me, he just didn't want to be identifiable on camera.
Oh ok thanks for clearing this up
demolished today

You full blown crazy
@@nicholasmueller995 And why would that be? Name one thing I mentioned that's not true.

New arena is trash palace was way better
Maybe don't put a major arena in Auburn Hills eh?
Rasheeeeeeeeeeeeeed..
That's far from abandoned lel
Put their jewelry. psh.. that’s racist.
How?
