Buying and Fixing a Yanmar YM1700 Tractor - CHEAP

In the summer of 2023, we bought an old Yanmar YM1700 tractor for our little homestead. We've had nothing but problems with every tractor we've had. I've always wanted one of these tractors. So, when one popped up on marketplace for $1,500, we jumped on it.

The Yanmar 1700 is a great unit; and I see you know where to go for parts. Everything is fairly cheap for them. Take good care of it and you will retire before it does!

These tractors without the water pump like a mostly distilled water mix of coolant. 30% antifreeze max if I remember correctly. I think Most people run 25% antifreeze in these. Just remember to change it to 50/50 before winter comes.

Early 80's. these are nice tractors. Very similar and same engines as the John Deere 650, 750, and 850's. $1500 running is a great price in 2023 as long as it doesn't need tires ($1000), engine overhaul or clutch ($2000). Easy to work on. They have a dry clutch that is prone to sticking if the tractor sits too long.
