I prefer to run a cable thru my USWE and keep a powebank in the bag. Also I usually remove the GoPro battery because when filming in 4K AND charging they have a tendency to overheat.
Had the same idea of usb charging , but using a power pack in my jacket pocket because i dont like to have cables between me and the bike, great video !
I love this idea and I love the comment below about the waterproof putty below, but some ingenious individual will eventually come up with some waterproof door that goes with a plug that has a silicone gasket and they will advertise it as "water resistant". I'm either running my GoPro's on my pontoon boat or Hobie kayak fishing and doing a battery change-out is always been a sketchy situation, but this would work excellent! I love how it constantly charges the battery so it you know its always ready to go and this would work because I could keep it hooked up when I am not fishing. Nice description and directions.
Is there anything by which i can charge the camera and use the mic at the same time? I have tried with media mod but unable to do it, sometimes it works sometimes not....
Nice, changing batterys ##### I have a watch with a 1 hour timer, should work great, but I forget to start it, lol. Is that a clake clutch lever? Do you have any content on that?
Now that your battery last for the whole day like mine plugged in to my motorcycle charding port, tell me about your video settings, are you using the Looping Mode?
I don't record all day, just when I want to, I just like not having to change batteries. I record in 2.7k/60, Superview, Hypersmooth Boost, Protune: ISO 100-3200, medium sharpness, GoPro Color, Auto Shutter and White Balance.
This idea might not be viable because GoPro batteries are susceptible to overcharging and getting swollen, doing this will likely bloat it up quicker. Battery might not last even 2 months for a regular vlogger.
GoPro makes a "weather resistance" door for this situation ..... what's another $20 bucks!!! gopro.com/en/us/shop/mounts-accessories/usb-pass-through-door/ADCOD-001.html
Hi mate, If you watch it again, He takes the battery completely out of the cam. Then adds an aftermarket blank door to still be able to access the USB port inside. It's a brilliant idea. It's one of the things I really enjoy about GoPro these days, Is the aftermarket gear for them... There is a huge range of goodies out there. I hope this helps Frederick. Take care buddy wherever you are in the world. Regards from Australia 🙂
I am a game developer and was planning on a 3000 km trip in northern india . And i want to record all the roads and ill be recording 6 hours daily ( timelapse) will the camera overheat ?? ( Its in northern india and temp is really low , but idk how camera works )
This does not work. You have to remove the battery for it to draw power from external source. When the battery drains, it charges. When its charging, it automatically stops recording.
Hey, I ride off road as well, torn between the hero I and 7,what do you think should i take? I ride specials mainly and single track, so stability is important
It's a problem of GoPro, if you use the power bank and the external microphone at the same time the GoPro doesn't power the external microphone and the result is always a video without audio.. (i hate gopro for this thing...)
Thanks so much for this video! Extremely helpful. Curious - does your GoPro ever overheat? I was warned that it might if I filmed all day long. Thanks!
It definitely van overheat if the conditions are right and the battery will deteriorate rapidly from constant charging so be careful when doing this. Lithium batteries are known to explode or catch fire when overheated.
Buy a larger card, it will solve all your recording issues. I run 256gb cards in all my GoPro's and never run out of recording space. On a related note, I don't mind paying extra and I wish GoPro would just put the larger (132gb, 256gb, etc) cards with the camera and charge me for it. I have a bunch of 32gb cards that are basically worthless.
@@WASemiHardEnduro Handy to know...Perhaps put that in block letters in the title mate to cover your ass. Brilliant idea all the same and will be trying it with a power bank also. Thanks man. Nice bike btw 🙂
@@billyadams3267 depends how many GB your micro SD card has!! If it’s 32 GB it only allows about 1 hour and like 15 minutes of recording. The more GB it has, the more time you can record. It should display on the top left corner of your GoPro Hero 8
1:31 if you had 12 V go to your Gopro you will fri it. I have never used your motorcycle and I know that usb is not pushing 12 V DC out its pushing 5V out. This video took forever to say the tip and you also worded thins incorrectly. Please step up your game bro.

@Jaxon Terrance wow that’s mad, some dumbass will fall for this
I always record like this 🤘🤘
what power pack do you use and how long can you record with i t
its a good idea you can also run a portable charger inside your coat pocket
Thats sounds cool mate, So it will work fine also with a decent power bank yeah? Cheers

Great video. Helping with the algorithm.
What right angle cable did you use that fits thru the slot in the door?
Is there anything by which i can charge the camera and use the mic at the same time?
I have tried with media mod but unable to do it, sometimes it works sometimes not....
Had same question. Can we use type c port in mic adaptor to charge go pro hero 8?
Great idea! Go Pro 10 sucks with it's terrible battery life. This is a good idea for water free conditions!
Nice, changing batterys #####

Is that a clake clutch lever? Do you have any content on that?
Yes it’s a Clake One Light clutch. I love it. Sorry no constant yet about it; maybe I should do a review.

12v is harm your camera .GoPro recommend 5v and 2or higher amps
Great video !!!
Great video! I don't use it like this. But super smart!
Wake at cable from your bike to gopro
This heats up the go pro like lava
Thanks bro.
Already have battery while charging?
What about mic … how can you still use your mic while charging?
It has a built in mic 🤷♂️
Very cool idea but where in the world are you finding a coiled USB cable?
Think i found it on amazon, years ago.
This idea might not be viable because GoPro batteries are susceptible to overcharging and getting swollen, doing this will likely bloat it up quicker. Battery might not last even 2 months for a regular vlogger.
Will this technique effect my go pro ?
Can you show me how you put your silky big boy on your bars
I don’t run it there anymore, but I used a couple voile straps around the sheath, strapped to the bars.
What cable is that u using ?
the problem is , its no longer waterproof

Good solution but not sure it will survive the rain. Camera is waterproof with doors closed as far as I understand.
Yeah, not a good solution in wet conditions. Only for dry days.

You should be fine. The gopro doesn't seem to overheat in outdoor situations when you're moving.
This does not work. You have to remove the battery for it to draw power from external source. When the battery drains, it charges. When its charging, it automatically stops recording.
no need to remove the battery. mine works on GoPro Hero 8. Plugged in to my motorcyle charging port
This isn't true at all, unless you are talking about a different camera.
The setup in the video works absolutely fine on the hero 7 or hero 8.
Same understanding, hero black 8 stops recording when the battery is charging unfortunately.
Gopro 7 Black does, but gopro 8 black does not work like this.if you want to recoding with cable, it has to remove battery.
Hey, I ride off road as well, torn between the hero I and 7,what do you think should i take? I ride specials mainly and single track, so stability is important
The newer, the better. The 7 is just fine, the 8 is better. The Hero 9 Black is probably better still, but I doubt I will upgrade this time around.
there's a significant stabilization difference between 7 and 8.
Do you try with Go pro External mic ?
i have an static audio Issue if i use Powerbank as battery , If i use go pro battery Its normal
I have not tried an external mic

Will overheat, but it will turn off on its own.
can gopro enduro battery be used in go pro hero 8?

No, 9/10/11/12 all use a bigger battery than the 7/8
This must be why gopro cheaps out and gives u a charger a foot long after paying 300 to 500 bucks...
Does it count for go pro 7 black
Yes I do this setup with my gopro hero 7. It works great
Thanks for answering and also thank for asking
Cool

Yes
Will it damage the battery in long run?
no, im using go pro 9, i can film without battery but connected to a external powerbank
Does it affect the water proofing?
Yes

All 12v USB adapters convert 12v to 5v USB. Figured this was common knowledge. Same thing as a cigarette lighter USB adapter for a car.
Where can I find another silicone putty alternative that sells in the UK?
