  • Just because all wheels are not spinning when stuck does not always mean your system is broken!

    If all 4 wheels are spinning you've got lockers front and rear and your REALLY stuck ha ha ha

    Applying the brake with unlocked diffs can SOMETIMES get all 4 spinning cause it’s applying even pressure to all four tires making the resistance to the front the same ish and also the rear. And if in mud just flooring it can get all 4 going also cause in the mud there’s no resistance to the tire cause mud is slick.

    If you're applying throttle and none of the wheels are spinning, something kinda is wrong in your drivetrain...

    Most 4wds will only spin one wheel on each differential when bogged

    If all 4 wheels are not spinning you’re usually not moving, unless your sliding downhill.

  • @KasperBrink

    Fun fact: torque is always split 50/50 between the wheels on an axle, even if you have one wheel spinning an the other not moving. However, all of the power is sent to the wheel that is spinning.

    • @TheMethtrix
      @TheMethtrix ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly 💯. Difflock off = torque goes 50:50. So many people get this wrong

    I had both diff centres on 2 rocks and all 4 wheels in the air. Always travel with another as recovery is easy

    I’m just glad I live in the USA where I can have the tire size and lift that I want to help me not get stuck.

    Can you talk about dif lockers. And how often you use them and if it is a good first mod afere tiere's and lift.

    Thanks Ronny, I didn’t realise you could add a centre lock too!

    • @checa160

      Just in some cars(discos, defenders, mitsubishis with superselect, jeeps with quadra drive I think)…most japanese cars have rear wheel drive, so when you “connect” the front axle you directly lock “the center diff”, wich they normally lack in their transfer cases. So you only need front and rear lock on those cars. Cheers

    So your saying a twin locked gq patrol won't spin 4 wheels as it doesn't have a "centre differential lock"??

    • @JordanGair
      @JordanGair 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He’s referring to “centre differential lock” as diff lock

      @southsidejdm6170 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I understand that, only full time four wheel drives have a "centre diff lock"

    WHen a 4th gen Jimny sees that a wheel spins, he puts the brake on that wheel and put the power to the other wheel....clever !

      Holden adventras do this also... it works good until a axle breaks then it locks the brakes on the broken axle side and still does spins that side of the diff

    Are you stuck in 1960’s Land Rover tech. You need to update your knowledge base. Not heard of abls and the like.
