I still like the 13 years old one better... Which is the DB9... That may not look as mean but that does feel more elegant... And that's the most I care from a car... Elegance... Especially for a GT car
Same here. The front and rear view of this are good, and inside it's good, but the side and top-down view don't work for me. It looks bulbous, like a figure 8. It's the Kim Kardashian of cars, wide up top and down below but a skinny-ish waist. It robs the cabin of probably 6 inches total width. I can really see why people are saying the DB9 looks better, it looks less freakish.
+Alien OrSutin I agree 100%. This seems like a srep backwards. This will have to grow on me. Dbs and vanquish are two of the best looking cars of all time imo.
+Tayman Gaming Agree with the DBS, not a fan of the tail lights and wing on the Vanquish... DBS is pretty much perfect engine and exterior-wise, it just lacks a bit in the interior just like all AM's... The DB11 will also have to grow on me, the rear especially is hard to find good looking for me..
I really loved two things which they sadly took out of the old car: the sapphire key you had to plug in the center dash, and the quirky counter clockwise RPM needle.
+Travis Olson that new key looks even more like a brick. Unless you are a woman or euro man with a purse it will be annoying to carry in your pants pocket.
+Alex “KiKi993” Martinez you are correct, my opinions are poor/ not thought through and don't matter anyway. Thats why I no longer work in automotive journalism.
Schmee150 I absolutely love how you describe your first initial impressions, unfiltered and direct. On the technical side it is really helpful how you breakdown the exterior/interior components and also show on camera the different displays; how and what changes (temp/fluid levels etc) with driving /damper modes switches. Always entertaining and informative, great video!
The last little bit where he talks about it being an "elegant brute" is the absolute perfect description for it. The DB11 is definitely a great step up for Aston Martin.
+Nathan Ansley yea for sure. the system was complex though and correct me if im wrong but the whole car is based on the S class coupe like the S65 Coupe
No the car is not at all based on the S Coupe. The only thing that is MB is the electronics, everything else is AM this includes engine, body, drive train, etc..
suntzu861 you're quite wrong. AMG has supplied engines for a while now to Aston Martin. The V12 in the Vanquish was AMG, so is this one and the DB9 might have been the same. In case you're also unaware Mercedes-Benz own Aston Martin
MB have a 5% stake in Aston. Its hardly ownership. the V12 engine used in previous platforms derived from Ford's V6 and were then manufactured in Germany in the same plant as AMG
had the opportunity to get inside this very same car at the Geneva motor show... what an amazing piece of engineering! beautiful, elegant and sporty as every good aston has to be...
Really professional review Tim, and clear to see the enthusiasm you have for Aston cars. I think if I was in the market for a GT DB11 would have to be a serious contender maybe with the GTC4 Lusso, though the Aston is usefully cheaper, Ferrari not going to come in much under 300K!
Saw the DB11 at the Festival of speed at Goodwood and fell in love with it there and then, what's even better about it is there's all the upgraded aero, performance, tech and looks making it a lot better than the previous DB9 and as it is the predecessor to the DB9 hopefully it should actually be affordable in times to come!!!
you re an idiot ..it s out of mercedes actually who makes some of the best interiors out there and combine that with the aston martin touch it s just awesome so fuck off
Interesting point at 12:47 regarding being "too positive about cars", it is intriguing to hear about the little quirks all cars have. Makes them more relatable.
The only thing missing in your garage is a proper GT like the DB11! you shouldn't get another track focused car like the Vantage GT8/ AMG GT-R since you travel a lot, the DB11 would be perfect for all your roadtrips...
Now I see why you have chosen the AMG GT- R , and you're right! The DB11 is more about luxury and comfort, we can only hope for a sportier version like what they did with the DB9/ DBS. Just a question: Is there other style of rims that you can choose for the spec of the car?
Floris Hazewinkel I'm not changing my mind that quick, he was just explaining to me why he took the AMG GTR over any other GT car and i respect his choice, but if i was him with the same actual garage i will without any doubt add the DB11.
Great video as usual. I like the DB11 it is modern but still obviously an Aston Martin and the sound is to die for. One to add to my lottery win list!!!
The problem with the DB11 is all the journalists are lying saying it's beautiful because that is the stereotypically done thing when reviewing Astons, I'm sorry but this is a fussy design and a lot of it looks like its been done to shut up people who say they all look the same! Great engineering but not a looker.
Man, this car looks BADASS but in my opinion with an engine like that, it should produce more PSs. I don't know but maybe the turbos don't produce much boost and that's why, the exhaust sounds almost like N/A engine. Just thinking...
that is because aston chose to use smaller turbos wich retain more engine sound but produce less power , they also have little to no turbo lagg making it feel like a N/A engine
Nice to see you bringing a small bit of criticism into your review. I like the positivity of your reviews but its also interesting to hear about some negative aspects, even if they are very small.
FastTeam11 That's an evolutionary design language. I'm no design major, but they have come a long way (longer than you think) from the original 911 in my opinion.
+Go Faast Aston martin is doing crappy stuff lately , first with db11 and now with AMRB 001 . Aston martin is just a gimmick and is over hyped by James bond . If any one wants British cars stick with McLarens.
I think it's an absolutely stunning car. And again with Aston Martin, it looks so much better in the flesh, really imposing. The DB9 was such an incredible design that it was always going to be hard to follow. Aston had to create a car that was clearly an Aston whilst simultaneously trying to avoid the 'every car looks the same' criticism. I think the Aeroblade/roof rails/roof combo are key to speccing a beautiful DB11.
Gotta be my favourite reviewer by miles. Treats every review with the same respect for the car, just great... You don't need to be sold on the deal with Shmee on the job. Just walk in and say l want this car, could you complete the paperwork, here is my card, just let me take care of the payment now and boom.. Coffee, Toilet and Drive..
Tim! You must've gone to the car museum at Gaydon? It's brilliant! There's classic racecars, classic normal everyday cars, classic everything!!! IT=t's brilliant.
Hey +Shmee150 ! I am not 100% sure on this, but when I sold cars (Nissan and Hyundai), that little speaker you pointed to @19:50 I believe is the microphone for the voice command and bluetooth. That is what it looks like on lower tier cars at least.
Hi Tim, Isn't it about time you got a film crew (of at least one). The selfie video isn't quite cutting it. That's a serious engine brace! An Aston needs to be beautiful first. And sound good! This also looks to be a performer.
Now put that new V12 engine in the next generation Vantage - lighter and smaller than the DB11 and equipped with a manual. That would be my new dream supercar.
It's nice to see AM finally put something in the center console. I always hated looking at that square whole wear the transmission shifter used to be (in their automatic models)
Drinking game with the word GO can begin ;) Oh Nice Astons at 6:53 an 13:00. To all of you complaining about the power output of just 600bhp for a V12. Have you ever thought about strategy, the big brands always keep the engines down, because they have plans for something bigger. E.g.: the SLS AMG first gen had 571 bhp, Gt model hat 590 and final blackseries had 631. So i think we can expect a little bit more from this Aston engine.
the Connection with mercedes really helped aston martin. looks very nice from the inside and the whole electronics. If only it would look like the vanquish from the outside.
See before I'd have went Aston every time as my dream car but now I'm a McLaren fan after following your fun in cars. Aston DB11 or Mc L 650s 🤔 if only that was my world of choice 😀 Enjoyed that.
The thing with these reviews is, Tim will never be negative about a car. Him being ecstatic about these "products" is directly related to how many review opportunities he will get in the future. Sad, but necessary.
A few nice personal touches to this review which pro motoring journos often miss. "I'm immediately feeling super, super relaxed" and the slight ( at first ) indecision about where to put your elbows really conveys the real world experience : ). Also no contrived, falsetto "woo hoo hoo hooo" that many pro reviewers seem compelled to do in their work. Nice review ; )
Really nice car, and love the sound. It's hard for me to judge the interior because I'm not the demographic for this car, but to me it lacks some wow factor that doesn't live up to the great exterior, engine and sound.
Seems like a brilliant upgrade from a technical perspective. A superb engine and an even more usable car. BUT I don't think it's a patch on the DB9 aesthetically, though I do like certain design elements. It's the roof bars and the rear end which let it down slightly as it just looks a little odd. I think in one colour without the contrasting roof pillars it will look more cohesive. I know you should never compare new to old but I would probably rather buy a Vanquish with a few miles on it...:)
Tim has the best "job" in the world!
Absolutely.. Oh sorry, wrong channel
+SnejaTheKing ahhhh I get it
That's certainly true!
I see what you did there sir
+SnejaTheKing absolutely yeah!!
I still like the 13 years old one better... Which is the DB9... That may not look as mean but that does feel more elegant... And that's the most I care from a car... Elegance... Especially for a GT car
yup 👌
Same here. The front and rear view of this are good, and inside it's good, but the side and top-down view don't work for me. It looks bulbous, like a figure 8. +danzki TBH the rear of this car looks like the G35 to me lol
I really loved two things which they sadly took out of the old car: the sapphire key you had to plug in the center dash, and the quirky counter clockwise RPM needle.
That key was terrible, took way too much time to start the car, took up too much pocket space, and new solid starter button is a much cleaner design.
"Is that an AM-key in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me..." XD
Ultrakillerism I think both can be speced back in by Q.. it's no longer as standard anymore unfortunately.
Schmee150 I absolutely love how you describe your first initial impressions, unfiltered and direct. On the technical side it is really helpful how you breakdown the exterior/interior components and also show on camera the different displays; how and what changes (temp/fluid levels etc) with driving /damper modes switches. That front wheel arch - "To send the air (stonechips) down the side of the car"
hah1hahahahaha
It deflects debris.
+MrCarGuy20 I'm sure your correct and the car has a micro filter at the vent location :-/
It's internal isnt it?
+jayaybe1 I was being sarcastic. Stones most certainly will get kicked up through the front fenders at some point.
Well done Shmee, this is the best DB11 review I've seen on youtube. Don't know if you'll see this but full marks none the less. Thanks.
Does it sound that loud in the cabin, or are there any external mics? It's exactly how loud i'd like it to be! Especially for this car!
The last little bit where he talks about it being an "elegant brute" is the absolute perfect description for it. The DB11 is definitely a great step up for Aston Martin.
I'd rather have the key that pushes into the dash
+Johnny Salami yeah I like the uniqueness. Every other car has push button

I miss old speedmeter turning in opposite way :(
+Ahmed Gafar I agree with you but I hope that the vantage succesor wont have a digital tach
Lateco Braxatoris I think you can have it changed back it because it's software
you re an idiot ..it s out of mercedes actually who makes some of the best interiors out there and combine that with the aston martin touch it s just awesome so fuck off
and the mustangs dash is not bad at all anyway
I love your boyish enthusiasm Tim, it's so infectious and natural. Never change, you're a brilliant motoring journalist and a star.
The grill looks like an hdmi port
lol
or micro usb
+Blitzkreig5100 xddd
Except that grill was first designed about 50 years before the conceptualization of digital media much less HDMI lol
*+William Hummel* Lol
Such a beautiful car! Shame so many dislike it in the comment section!
The color looks so good on it as well
it lost my favorite thing about astons... the classic key in the dash.
I quite like the more sporty feel so something like the AMG GT R sits in the GT category while still being a very involving drive.
Now I see why you have chosen the AMG GT- R , and you're right! The DB11 is more about luxury and comfort, we can only hope for a sportier version like what they did with the DB9/ DBS.
Just a question: Is there other style of rims that you can choose for the spec of the car?
He has an ff...
+Chaouir Ramzi wow, never seen someones opinion change that quick
Floris Hazewinkel I'm not changing my mind that quick, he was just explaining to me why he took the AMG GTR over any other GT car and i respect his choice, but if i was him with the same actual garage i will without any doubt add the DB11.
Great video as usual. I like the DB11 it is modern but still obviously an Aston Martin and the sound is to die for.
One to add to my lottery win list!!!
Tim, you say noise quite a lot, but noise is technically unwanted sound. I don't think anybody doesn't want to hear an Aston V12!
Yeah, the word "noise" doesn't do it justice!
Aston Martin DB11 very nice Tim sound is amazing, thanks for sharing Shmee
9:14 you sound like your in a kids investigation show like scooby doo
Replacement for jinkies
Enjoyed that thanks. Nice to see some of the widgets and oddments you don't normally see in car reviews.
The problem with the DB11 is all the journalists are lying saying it's beautiful because that is the stereotypically done thing when reviewing Astons, I'm sorry but this is a fussy design and a lot of it looks like its been done to shut up people who say they all look the same! Great engineering but not a looker.
I think that's down to personal opinion, perhaps it has much more elegance when you see it in person?
I think it is stunning!
So what is a 'looker' a Seat Leon?
I'm not really sold on the huge chin scoop. It is a GT car, they should have gone for looks over pure aero.
+Edward Keane - Well keeping British I would say the F-type is a much classier looking car.
That's a beautiful car. I'm glad they updated the interior, the previous generations were lacking.
its really growing on me now :/
You're lucky to get a free Aston growing on you!
lucky a get Aston You're on you growing to free!
+justin bouche Why is this soo funny😂
andro schrader ;) cuz he was trying to be an ass and he got destroyed by the random word copy technique that i have been perfecting for years.
+justin bouche if you count that as 'destroyed' then I feel sorry for you lmao.
Making a joke = being an 'ass'...LOGIC!
There’s nothing in the world quite like an Aston Martin V12. Turbo charged or not, it’s beautiful 😍
Precisely. And I'll gladly take a hit in performance if it means I get that ride and that exhaust NOIZE!
It's a GT after all, not a full on super sports car. I heard that same engine has been tested to over 800bhp, so just wait for the new Vanquish.
It'll produce more power, but in the Vanquish or whatever it's called.
Happy birthday Tim, glad you like the car :)
Front half=Beautiful
back half = terrible
I completely disagree.
+Jeffrey Moore I agree with you. The rear is great but that front is just not as amazing as the ones from their previous cars.
Both are very beautiful, they're just very different from each other
Let's keep your girlfriend out of this shall we? ; )
LOL
These cars look amazing. I saw one in a traffic jam on a motorway a few days ago. :) I think it was the same colour as this one.
Anyone who says this car is ugly are fucking lying to themselves, its absolutely gorgeous.
Nice to see you bringing a small bit of criticism into your review.
I like the positivity of your reviews but its also interesting to hear about some negative aspects, even if they are very small.
That airblade is so ugly when it's up
My all time fav Aston Martin the V12 Zagato and the new DB11
If this is the new era then new era is ugly .
Sucks for you
So you expected them to keep the same design language forever? Get with the times, dude.
FastTeam11 That's an evolutionary design language. I'm no design major, but they have come a long way (longer than you think) from the original 911 in my opinion.
It probably will look prettier in person, as most things do. That's why most journalists call it beautiful.
+Go Faast Aston martin is doing crappy stuff lately , first with db11 and now with AMRB 001 . Aston martin is just a gimmick and is over hyped by James bond . If any one wants British cars stick with McLarens.
Love the style and look of the car, very lucky man Tim to get to drive it!
Doesn't match the OMG look of the DB9 .
Shmee, the DB11 is my dream, a masterpiece, and my jam.
The latest Ford Fiesta looks better. That black grill looks cheap
You can have it in chrome. I think the chrome grille looks much better.
+Wheel Nuts ikr
This is one of those cars you have to see in person. It's EXTREMELY good looking in the flesh, in my opinion. Wasn't sold on photos and videos.
I LOVE the sound of Aston's high-torque starters, then the exhaust bark when it comes to life.
I did not expect it to sound that good. I was afraid it would sound more like a s65. sounds great.
Beautiful car from any perspective...should be a Shmee Mobile.
I like the long sleek look not that they weren't sleek before. I like the direction they are going I think the car is gorgeous.
Beautiful Shmee150! I love it. Nice vid
looks killer, signature Aston look, give em a raise.
I love the new interior door chime in the Aston Martin DB11, which is created from Mercedes-Benz.❤
Soft close bonnet, that is actually brilliant!
"From the word go" shmees new favorite phrase.
That is what it looks like on lower tier cars at least.
didn't expect that a turbo could sound that good... its lovely :)
The more I watch reviews on the DB11, the more I begin to like it
Since you have the GT4, this would have been the Aston to have in my opinion. Great video
I love the design of this car. This is without doubt one of the best GT's available today!
I want one. Thank you much for presenting the trunk
Looks absolutely gorgeous in that colour
Hi Tim, Isn't it about time you got a film crew (of at least one). The selfie video isn't quite cutting it.
That's a serious engine brace! An Aston needs to be beautiful first. And sound good! This also looks to be a performer.
Beautiful color. Goes well with the black accents. Buy it.
man i love this brand so much . even the name is perfect .
I think its one of the best looking cars I've ever seen.
Wow... This is like the Perfect Aston, All in One!
The car looks awesome! Thank you for the video about it! :)
Absolutely love the car. And great video 😀
I have been waiting for this video since looking at your instagram!!!!!
Wow, personally I think it looks awesome. Great review Tim!
14:02 shmee you just so exciting and i will drive this car immediately ~~~:),so wonderful drive
love the front not so the back
I just watch the beginning over and over. It's so pretty.
I would like a more normal focal length just to see what it really looks like.
awesome design, looks absolutely beautiful
That DB11 looks sick!
That colour is incredible
Now put that new V12 engine in the next generation Vantage - lighter and smaller than the DB11 and equipped with a manual. That would be my new dream supercar.
How can that DB11 perform against the Vanquish? (I really don't know much about Aston Martins).
It's nice to see AM finally put something in the center console. I always hated looking at that square whole wear the transmission shifter used to be (in their automatic models)
Hole, not whole.
Drinking game with the word GO can begin ;)
Oh Nice Astons at 6:53 an 13:00.
British cars have the most beautiful details ever omg this db11 is gorgeous
The grey speaker next to the driver sunvisor is actually a microphone for when you are speaking wirelessly handsfree
the Connection with mercedes really helped aston martin. looks very nice from the inside and the whole electronics. If only it would look like the vanquish from the outside.
See before I'd have went Aston every time as my dream car but now I'm a McLaren fan after following your fun in cars. Aston DB11 or Mc

It looks sick. I like it very much. Spectacular vehicle.
Stunning car, big step forward for Aston Martin.
A perfect color for a perfect car! Go for it💝
A few nice personal touches to this review which pro motoring journos often miss.
Not sold on the looks, I must say. They've nailed it with the TT v12 sound though. The electronic armrest is a very nice touch.
I really like this car :) Hope it sells well because Aston Martin needs it..
that aston martin is one of the best cars I have ever seen
I saw one driving down the A38 the other day, looked beautiful. Wonder if it was a youtuber reviewing it or a customer
That's local to me, should've popped in for a cup of tea, shmee.
The DB9 looks so much better. Perfect proportions
I know you should never compare new to old but I would probably rather buy a Vanquish with a few miles on it...:)
Great review, beautiful car !
I'm properly disappointed that you didn't do a small review on the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shmee -_-
the engine sounds heavenly good
