Captain Cook did call double island for that exact reason, when approaching Di in a boat from the South about 2/4 miles off coast halfway between Noosahead and Di

I learned the hard way about traction control, got bogged during high tide at bribie. Dad told me not to drive at high tide, i was freaking out when I got bogged and thought this is what I deserve. Fortunately I managed to get out. Wouldn’t have got bigger though if I new what reaction control even was.

There is the iceman (food truck service) that runs up and down the beach for water/drinks, ice, some food to 🤙🏼

Correct regarding toilets. Have seen rangers ask campers to leave if they do not have one set up. Dump points at Freshwater 👍
Heaps of foxes at night, you can seen footprints in the sand each morning. I have seen a dingo as well.

almost stood on 2 red belly black snakes walking through the camp area and dune entrance at night last weekend. You can spot them pretty easily even at night. Definitely wasn't a stick and was worth turning my light on to look.

I was up there on the weekend just gone and it was amazing. Only been a couple of times. Looked like the rainbow end might be unable to be driven as the water looked very high even though it was low tide.

Make sure you buy the correct permit too. I bought one for Kgari, and thought that it also covered cooloolah, but it does not, and the fine print says loser pay anyway despite writing a letter of explanation. Nah no good. Gimee $207 thanks. When I die I want my ashes scattered here. Love this place and go here often from Brisbane. ❤❤❤

they were specific about the toilets too, right? Like you can't get the ol' plastic bag mini-long drops. It has to be fully enclosed and you have to take the waste back to a caravan/dump point.

Freshwater camping area has toilets and $2 coin operated hot showers. It’s a really well setup area with quite secluded tent and trailer sites. Just remember to have a stash of $2 coins for the showers.
