For anyone who’s doesn’t know about the lady who was crying: she had already sent her food back because it hadn’t been cooked properly. So not only did she have to wait a long time _twice_ , but at the end she ended up getting that sorry excuse for a burger.

I feel so bad for the waiters/waitresses. They are really the only person that can relay information from the customers to the chefs no matter how rude ir awkward it is.
To be honest, I've yet to see a prick whose role is a waiter.
As a waiter - there is so much tension when you take food back, not to put people off returning food, but we get stuck in the middle awkwardly relaying the food the chefs make is bad - wrong.
Trust me, telling them what the customer said isn't the worst. The worst part is the chefs can be super rude towards you saying things like "I'm not f***ing cook that again" and you have to find a way to get what the customer wants and calm down the chefs. I got yelled by them so much for things that aren't my fault.. It's suck being a waiter/waitress

Unless it is constructive, like overcooked or undercooked just “the food is terrible”, I am not recooking that. Give them a refund. If they want it redone as a top priority during rush hour - nope. If you want it recooked during rush hour without writing it down - nope. And ofc if you come with “This is tooo yadayadayada how fucking hard it is to cook?” I’m just kicking you out of the kitchen.
Kitchen is a tough place, it either chews you up and spits you out, or you fire with fire. We are pressured by cooking something at a top tier in a short time while being almost always understaffed/shitty coworkers that ain’t do nothing. We are harsh on each other as well, but we do have some lovely coworkers and waiters out there. I can tell that I haven’t yelled at 50% of our staff ever. As long as you are respective and cooperative - any cheft with dignity will respect and cooperate. I am looking out to my good coworkers by leaving them extra food left and letting take longer lunch breaks that just “inhaling” it.

Watch the full episode: she waited for a long time, got served an uncooked burger, sent it back, and _then_ got that plate of food. She’d have to send it back a THIRD time and choose a brand new meal.

Like I said, she has maybe related it to her life in that moment: when she has the chance to walk away but she does not have the courage to. Or maybe she keeps walking away because things go bad and this meal was the only time she decided to stay, only to have walking away a better choice.
People having bad days are emotionally unstable, especially women who are maybe on their periods (not stereotyping) and you can't blame them if they cry. Just like me, we pent up our feelings about things up to the point something so simple can be the breaking point and leave us in tears..

The lady was definitely trying to kick up a fuss. When I was a bartender I'd make the drink in front of the people and they would still try and complain and say i never made what they ordered, I always made sure I asked what they wanted and asked again to make sure (to cover myself). But alot of the time they are just trying to get a free drink.
There was a great customer on Hotel Hell when Gordon asked which was scarier out of the food or the shitty Cher tribute act, and the customer answered "they complement each other pretty well."

Stupid ass comment, you don't just go to a restaurant because the food is good, although that's a part of it. You go there because you don't want to cook, you just want to pay, get the food and enjoy the evening with your friends.
Also, saying "if you can cook better then just cook yourself" completely ignores the point she was making, the fact that she can cook better isn't a damn flex, it's the issue. A nice restaurant should by all means have better food than some random lady can cook, if she can make better food then that isn't saying much about the lady, but it does say a lot about the restaurant.
Now yes, she was a bit of a Karen and i don't think the food was that bad, but that doesn't mean that this comment isn't extremly fucking braindead.

It's easy to laugh at the customer who cried but honestly I've been in that sort of situation before. When your day is already going poorly and you just want some good food to take your mind off it but it doesn't go the way you want, it can be all it takes to send you over the edge.
