the next 20 something episodes alone are better than any other shonen in history. Even with all the time passing this anime is still setting the standards for Shonens.
unfortunately for us but fortunatly for hxh, there are few modern battle mangas that can reach the hxh level. HxH didn't set any standard
@@termindterguta3514 i've pretty much seen every shonen under the sun, there's nothing that even deserves to be in the same sentence as HxH, the only one might be Bleach once the TYBW arc is completely animated, most battle shonen anime are mediocre in both storytelling and character design, incomparable with the excellence shown in HxH.
@@termindterguta3514 no dude, first nen system is in a another level by itself. theres nothing like this in other shonens.
the character development is god tier. very few shonen takes good care of their characters. most of them are written by early 20 somethings shy japanese guys with little life experience. no maturity whatsoever. hence lots of fanservice and teenager male fantasies. Togashi doesn't fall into this crap.
then theres the amazing direction of this episode, oh my god. a masterpiece of narrative

I love Netero's backstory soo much. Its incredibly refreshing compared to other protagonists who faces the end of their abilities.
He meditated upon what was his way forward and realised that it did not matter, what mattered was what he already had received and now was the time to give thanks for that.
How is that not the most badass takeaway from reaching mastery in anything?! I try to keep his lesson with me in my life, to be more grateful towards all the things that brought me to today, thanks to this mans reasonable reaction. Now the way he expresses his gratefulness is utter madness, and alot of his motivation from then on differs somewhat and he is not a kindhearted man in almost any way. But this conclusion and attitude still manages to melt my heart everytime I come back to this moment. I love it.
This is one of my favorite arcs ever in anime. I watched HunterxHunter when it was “finished” so it was such a joy to binge watch it. Then I got to the Chimera Ant Arc… shit just felt like a movie. The animation, intensity, and all other aspects of this anime got boosted up like ten-fold. I love this anime, it’s so damn good!

Zeno's echoing "DRAGON DIVE!!!" gives me chills every time, the fact he calls Netero "jiji" when he's a grandpa himself cracks me up XDDDD he talks like a teenager "cho-slow" LOL
He must have seen "Hyakushiki Kannon" before I wonder in which circumstances...I bet he has a lot of crazy stories to tell I could listen for days!

Love the animation on Netero's aura when he does his punches... it makes sense that like Zeno said it's nearly impossible to read the flow of his aura to predict his attacks bc it became so seamless with time

Love how she was talking about them entering the palace by the nearest entrance being a bad move with Pitou's En around and Netero's strategy giving the perfect solution right away ^^ the writing is genius!
Yeah, It would take too long to kill Pitou, as strong as Netero is, he would probably need his ultimate move

Zero Hand wouldn't really take that long, but Netero would be nearly dead afterwards, so that would be obviously a horrible idea.
Narrator is soooo freaking good at telling us the story, his salary must be higher than actual seiyuus on this specific arc haha
I remember when these chapters came out. Its kinda in a blur, and most of the drawing were kinda like sketches. But i was so invested that i didnt even realize before after because the storyline.
after watching it so many time i just realize what really make Netero so strong, i thought the 10 000 punch a day was just an extrem training, but it's more than that, it's a pre-condition, like Kurapika said, the stronger my resolve, the stronger my nen, this training was meant to show his gratitude toward his art, it was an expression of his resolve, therefor acting like a pre-condition
I have to say it what makes this series even more epic is that narrator he knows how to hype you up

I know that probably no one will read this comment, but I'll write it anyway :D
The power difference between Netero and Pitou is not that huge like it seems in this episode. If we talk from a Nen amount or a physical strenght point of view, Pitou is superior to Netero by far. The point is that against Netero beign stronger physically or have much more aura doesn't mean anything.
I think that the episode clearly show us the true difference between Netero and Pitou: the experience.
Pitou made two choises (remove En in order to prepare for battle and attack straight the enemy withouth thinking) and were both WRONG. Netero himself said that he has prepared a lot of coutermeasures, but Pitou made everything wrong. There is an enormous gap in experience between the two of them. Pitou is a true monster, but it's born 2 month ago. She/he/it fights only based on primal instinct.
Netero is not overpower compared to RG or Meruem, he's just a much more expert fighter than them.
Before creating misunderstandings, I am sure that Netero would beat Pitou in a 1v1 fight, but it would be a VERY long fight (Pitou is durable as hell) and it would required the full focus from Netero in order to win, which is not his mission in this case. That's why he hired Zeno and the other for this mission.
Netero has the advantage bc he created this one move as a condition for his hatsu which is faster than any attack an ant can produce...a human (or most humans) would die instantly but Netero anticipated that, the ants being tough, they would only be send away and it was good enough for his plan in open field... with Meruem he purposefully chose to fight underground to keep him in that place since the goal was to kill him there, not to send him away...imagine if the fight was btw Netero and Pitou it would likely be endless since Pitou doesn't have the gungi training... Netero would have to slap her a million times and maybe zero hand will kill her then 🤯🤯🤯🤯
the only reason he lost against the king was because the king learned game theory from a master gungi player and his own talent and inherent genius.
pitou's not like that. pitou would lose. yes it would drag long but netero wouldn't even need to focus like he did with meruem. Pitou's wouldn't have the knowledge or mental capacity to discern the barely biased fatal combination of hands in order for netero to lose.
@@CR-hj2hk netero's didnt brought meruem to that nuclear test desert and then put him in a underground tomb to avoid meruem escaping. the moment netero fell down from the sky and came close to the king's vicinity it was game over dude.
he isolated meruem to avoid more casualties and have his much desired 1v1.

I never said that, I said he didn't slap Meruem in an open field bc it would have the same effect as with Pitou and send Meruem far away (and Meruem doesn't have Dr Blythe to stop him) which wasn't the plan, hard to do a 1v1 in open field with Hyakushiki Kannon without sending Meruem far away, the walls in the tomb kept the fight going on a fast pace too (from the writer perspective it's an important parameter for the action)... he had to make sure Meruem would stay in the same place for the 1v1 AND the bomb (Meruem did try to escape when he realized it was game over but couldn't go far enough bc it was underground but obviously bc of the range of the explosion he would still be hurt and poisoned)
Netero would stomp Pitou like the ant she/he is.
Man , I can't wait for the following episodes . I was literally screaming when netero pulled up with zeno from the sky with a *Dragon!!* .
All the bulid up, all the setup, going to be payed off in the coming episodes . And the fact that they played same theme during netero's backstory that they play during 💀. Is 🔥

I kinda don't like when people hype up certain episodes for people who haven't seen the show, but I understand why he's hype for her to see it. I just think it's a better reaction when people aren't expecting anything. This still was a good reaction though.
This entrance was only the appetizer to the main course meal of Netero Greatness love his backstory.
For me this is the best arc I have ever watched in shonen. The narrator made it contemplative.
This was the episode when I understood that hunter x hunter had so much potential. It could go over a thousand episodes but still be enjoyable as Togashi sensei opened that path with this arc. This arc was really just the starting of hunter x hunter .
Every time I watch that flashback of Netero I always wonder if he didn't move to even eat. Just went 4 years training without a meal.

I think what they meant was his peak was decades ago, no one gets stronger the older they get, at least usually. Also I think he mentioned he was less than 10% of his peak strength now.

It was Mach 1+ to an unknown degree in the backstory(you're confusing hypersonic and supersonic), and lightning goes beyond Mach 200, also a billion times faster than sound let alone lightning hit would've instantly atomized the planet(cause that would be magnitudes faster than light, which is just around 880000 times faster than sound).

PLOTHOLE: Killua doesn't know and have know idea about nen back when he was still with his Family, the first time he sense nen was from his brother illumi in the hunter exam, yet he knows about his grandpa's dragon lance, so why was he surprise when WING first introduce nen to them?
I think it's not really a plothole... My guess is : he didn't know about nen but he felt its effects multiple times growing up from everyone in his family not only Illumi ....so even if he didn't see the nen dragons before, he could still see the effects of the dragon dive and know about the name of this attack... and now that he has nen he can see why it's called Dragon dive
This isn't a plot hole tho, Hisoka was using nen in the hunter exam and they didn't find out about it then too. He could also have heard stories about it.

It really doesn't matter. Whether it was removed or remained it doesn't influence the plot in any way so it's just an inconsequential inconsistency.
I think it's not a plot hole, maybe the younger killua knows dragon dive as a technique of this grandfather even if it's made out of nen, couz some nen are visible to other non-nen user just like kastro's doppelganger technique.

Unless he's a specialist Netero is most likely a conjurer not an emitter. Based on Hisoka's personality test he's definitely not an Enhancer
Togashi confirmed that Netero is an Enhancer a long time ago.
@@baseball_tomorrow194 Enhancers aren't as simple as they seem i think, the target of their enhancing can be more than just pure brute strength, i'd be willing to bet it can get down to abstract things, intelligence or other phenomenon, like how enhancers test their nen type with the water divination and it overflows with water, in the same vein if one could get smart about it there could be an enhancer power centered around making poisons stronger, making objects unbreakable, making air heavier or palpable.

Nope, Netero even is a Core Enhancer like Gon and Uvo(unlike Killua and Machi who are almost Transmuter + Enhancer Hybrids).
