Cause they're so pretty and walkable. In most places in America and other countries that were influenced by their urban planning practices, you can't get anywhere without a car. :(
❤ Thank you for this beautiful visit, I am from Aix en Provence, I haven't returned for 30 years… It has changed a lot since I lived from 1976 to 1994... I had a pinch in my heart to relive beautiful memories. Thanks 😊
Just love it & with maps showing us the locations! So informative & seeing the beautiful stones. Now I think it’s the most beautiful town with their stones of any town in the world 🌍 He does an excellent job talking to us!!
When I went to the palace at Versailles, they said dauphin meant child king. And I went here literally today and saw some of these places. I think the central fountain with the Lions is way better than the dauphin fountain. And this day, October 13, the streets are pretty crowded, not like what you see here. On this Monday, the museums with the Picassos and the Cezanne’s are closed. But-at the Caumont Centre d’ Arts there is a 1/2 hour movie about Cezzane that was really very informative. Made me feel like I did not miss the other. The price of 6.5 euros to tour there was well worth it and takes an hour, if you follow the walking tour info they give you.
We absolutely LOVE all of your videos, Janus. We like the way you show the map to give us some perspective of the area, as well as your love for cathedrals and showing us inside these churches and museums makes us feel as if we are there as well. Thanks a million!
Thank you for taking me back to one of my favorite cities in the world! I rented an apartment in Aix for a couple of months earlier this year, about a 2 minute walk from Place Richelme. Aix is such a special place. I actually got a little sad watching your video because I miss it so much!
Thank you for this gorgeous video! I am delighted! This town is very charming! It is the birthplace of the great painter Paul Cézanne. He spent the last six years of his life in Aix-en- Provence. I like all the film about this town. Every place is delightful.
I love your videos. I always want to explore those beautiful town. I’m travel with my family leaving from Barcelona in cruise 🚢. My destination is England . I’m planning to travel in tren with my mom to France for 4 to 5 days and return home 🇺🇸 from France . Thank you! 🙏
25:42 "resonated" with me the most. 😊 I can probably easily spend an hour there just exploring. It was a "wow moment" for me to see the place where Cezzane lived. I find his work in still life very inspiring. I also admire the architecture and details that are well-kept and remains very functional to this day. (Wish we could have done the same for some districts in Manila...) Awessome vid. Thanks for taking us along, Sir J.✨️🫰🏻🫶🏻
I've noticed from viewing your videos that there is almost no graffiti in the Provence and Cote d'Azur towns. I know Marseille has quite a lot but there is so much more graffiti in Paris compared to the south of France. Thanks for this look at this beautiful city.
Thank you! That’s true, the historic center of Aix and some of the other towns does indeed not have many graffitis on the walls. Makes for a quaint and beautiful atmosphere
I was shocked that the speaker did not acknowledge the role of the courage and bravery of the American Third Infantry in liberating Aix from the scourge of the Nazis. An American flag is posted on that plaque for a reason, but the guide completely ignored this fact. I lived in Aix for a year as a student and was also shocked that he did not choose to show that Aix is a university town, preferring to focus on the Apple Store and similar drek that can be found everywhere.
I’m not sure which speaker you are regarding to. If it’s me in this video you may have confused with a different video? I do mention the WW2 liberation and did not visit any Apple Store.
@@januslog also I am planning 4 days for marseille, Avignon, aix-en-Provence and cassis; do I have to book night stay at every place or I can book bnb at one place and explore the other cities????
For the medieval feel you may want to visit some of the smaller mountain villages. While there are plenty of beautiful old houses in Aix, it feels more like a renaissance town to me
Aix is not a medieval town. It is mostly XVII° and XVIII° century (classical French architecture), except from the old churches and cathedral. Compared with Aix, Avignon is more a medieval town (if ever you come and visit the region).
I'll never gey tired if how excited foreigners get when they see our cities.
It’s an incredibly beautiful place 🌺

How is the cost of living. How to rent a studio? Are the apartments a bit spacious?

This video is beautiful. What camera were you using? Thanks for creating!
Thank you!
I tend to use several cameras but my main camera was a Gopro, with some footage shot on my Canon M50, the DJI pocket and my iPhone.
So nice! 😃 What month was this? Im planning to go in april/may. Will it be cold?

What is it, then ? In France, we pronounce "Aix" as "Ex". What would you suggest ?

"x" is inaudible in French.

Aix is beautiful but much more better if you rather show de city lights instead of showing us your face in close up all the time. Thank you.
