1. Morification - Scrolls of the Megiloth 2. Tourniquet- Stop the Bleeding 3. Deliverance- Decade 4. Holy Soldier- Holy Soldier 5. Barren Cross- State of Control 6. Believer- Extraction From Mortality 7. Stryper- To Hell with the Devil 8. Bride- Snakes in the Playground 9. Living Sacrifice- Reborn 10. Mortifiacation - Primitive Rhythm Machine I need to check out Saint. Love the vocals. I also would've loved to have included Vengeance Rising and WASP's Golgotha album.
Living Sacrifice's Reborn was my first extreme metal record. I saw them live that same year. I was 13 and I was totally blown away. Before that, I thought Metallica was as heavy as it got. So many great Christian metal bands out there to this day and LS is still doing their thing! Nice list, bro! 👊
Bride have some amazing albums. Snakes is their best but Drop is phenomenal. Scarecrow and the Jesus Experience are also really good. Live to Die is great.
I like the list. I loved Believer's "Sanity Obscure" album and Bride's Second album "Live to Die". Another great album was Betrayal "The Passing". Those 3 got some serious turntable time. I dug the other bands like Bloodgood, Barren Cross, etc. Got to see Tourniquet at a small venue in the Phoenix area on the "Psycho Surgery" tour. Also got to see Bride at a small venue in Tucson, either the "Silence is Madness" or "Snakes" tour. Good memories
Thanks for the list, and your testimony for Christ. As a teenager I too was into secular metal in a big way, then in 1992 when I gave my live to Christ i was introduced to many Christian metal bands, stryper, tourniquet etc. Loved them as they not only rocked but had a message of truth and as you said also ministered to me in those early days. I would not even be here if it werent for the Lord reaching out His hand to me, Bless you man, and may the Lord continue to use you for His kingdom.
10. Tourniquet - Stop the Bleeding 9. Sacred Warrior - Rebellion 8. Barren Cross - Atomic Arena 7. Saint - Warriors of the Son 6.Whitecross - ST 5. Guardian - Fire and Love 4. Saint - Times End 3. Stryper - To Hell With the Devil 2. Deliverance - ST 1. Chaotic Resemblance - Nazarites and one honorable mention rock album: Daniel Band - Run From the Darkness
@@tonybatista1928 I agree, Hammer and Nail is musically their best album, and I almost put that one, but based on the criteria of biggest spiritual impact the first one edged it out.
1. Skillet - Collide 2. P.O.D - Satellite 3. Petra - Unseen Power 4. Flyleaf - Flyleaf 5. Bride - Snakes in the Playground 6. Disciple - Horseshoes & Handgrenades 7. The Crucified - Pillars of Humanity 8. X-sinner - Get It 9. Tourniquet - Stop the Bleeding 10. Stryper - To Hell with the Devil
Hi Pastor Brad, your list is awesome. Thank you. My favorites are. 1. Haven - Your dying day. 2. Veni Domine- Fall Babylon Fall 3. Mortification- Scrolls of the Meggiloth 4. Paramaecium- Exhumed of the Earth 5. Stryper- To hell with the devil 6. Bloodgood- Shakin the world 7. Living Sacrifice- Living Sacrifice 8. Tourniquet- Psycho Surgery 9. Sacrament- Testimony of apocalypse 10. Deliverance- Deliverance
@@PastorBradRocksDale Thompson talked about how he took lead singer for Stryper at a Cali show after Michael quit. He said they announced him as the new lead singer and he said nope I got my own band. Could you imagine if Dale Thompson had become the new lead singer of Stryper?
I love this, I came to Christ in 2012 as a broken adulterer having a total breakdown on the shower floor, up to that point I had completely dismissed anything Christian, even music from bands I would have listened to and loved had I given them a chance, Kinda makes me wish I had discovered these bands when they came out instead of over the past 13 years. God bless!
Hey bless you brother! Remember it's not how you start it's how you finish! So glad you're part of the family of god! Hope you really enjoy these bands! Keep your eyes on him!
Man our stories are so similar right down to the AU connection- attended there 1993-97! Grew up in a Christian home but in 86 was about to enter middle school and was very impressionable in terms of music-all my friends getting into the secular metal bands. On a family vacation in May ‘86 we visited a Christian bookstore owned by some of my Dads relatives and that is where I was introduced to Stryper. Was totally blown away. Dad bought us TYABA cassette and let’s just say my life changed forever. For about a year that was all I knew and we wore that cassette out! Then someone bought me the cassette “Righteous Metal” and that opened up another whole new world - Bloodgood, Barren Cross, Saint etc. This music and was life changing to me in my teens and still to this day. Thanks for sharing this list and your story. God Bless!
Awesome!!! Yeah---we JUST missed each other at AU....I transfered to a Bible College in Tennessee in 92! Thanks for sharing your story---amazing overlap! Look forward to connecting more! Blessings!
Demon Hunter should've been listed, but I know you can't list them all. There's a newer band called The Sowers if you all want to check them out. Jesus loves us all :)
Yeah.... can't list them all... and if you watched the intial explanation of how I went about narrowing my list to just 10---Demon Hunter, while epic, would not have made the cut. Thanks for sharing!
In junior high a girl gave me soldiers under command on cassette... I went home and listen to it and I had goosebumps and chills like never in my life tears were coming out of my eyes because I had just heard the soldiers under command title track!! It blew me away
Great list. I knew To Hell With the Devil would be your number one…makes sense!! I’m not sure I could ever pick my top ten…bands like Deliverance, Tourniquet, and Vengeance Rising all rocked my world alongside these hair bands. But…Stryper will always be the greatest of all Christian rock bands. They made it cool to openly love Jesus.
Dude, I’ve got saints times end on vinyl and I’ve never listened to it.🤣I’ll break it now. I love your channel. It’s really gotten me back into Christian metal. I had really gotten away from it until I started watching your videos. Thank you.
Love anything that takes me back to 80's Christian Metal Memory Lane. Nice job PB, I was a wild teenager too back in the day but found Jesus by the grace of God and He used this music to give me hope along the journey to finding the straighter road. This was a tough list when it came time to finish out my 8-9-10 positions, so I had to add my Honorable Mentions: 10. Leviticus - Strongest Power 9. Stryper - Yellow & Black Attack 8. Darryl Mansfield - Revelation 7. Bloodgood - Rock In A Hard Place 6. Leviticus - I Shall Conquer 5. Bloodgood - Self Titled 4. Saint - Time's End 3. Barren Cross - Rock For The King 2. Stryper - Soldiers Under Command 1. Stryper - THWTD Honorable Mentions, Saint (Warriors of the Son), Messiah Prophet Band (Master of the Metal), Whitecross (self-titled), Barren Cross (Atomic Arena), Danield Band (not really an album, just a collection of great songs), Idle Cure (self-titled), Bloodgood (Detonation). Holy Soldiers Last Train was awesome and would have made my top 5 but I didn't discover them until the 90's, when the hair band metal run was over. Loved a couple songs from Stryper's IGWT but they went softer when they should have gone louder. Anyways, just my 2 cents. Love to read everyone else's lists because the debates will never end. Blessings to all that keep this genre alive!
I’m right there with you, Pastor Brad. Saved in ‘85, threw out all my secular metal albums, and discovered a beautiful world of Christian hard rock & metal . Here’s my top 10: Rage Of Angels Soldiers Under Command Times End State Of Control (Barren Cross) Whitecross S/T Bloodgood S/T Messiah Prophet - Master of the Metal Sacred Warrior - Rebellion Daniel Band (first two albums) Guardian - First Watch
Holy Soldier - first two albums Petra - Beyond Belief, Unseen Power, No Doubt White Cross - In the Kingdom The Brave - Battle Cries Guardian - Fire and Love Bride - Rattlesnakes in the Playground Shout - It Won’t Be Long
Loving this list. Funny, listening to your testimony reminds me of exactly what I went through in my conversion. Here's the list that helped me through my teen years. 1- Rage of Angels - Self Titled 2- Sacred Warrior - Wicked Generation 3- Barren Cross - State of Control 4- The Crucified - Pillars of Humanity 5- Bride- Snakes in the Playground 6- Deliverance - Learn 7- Bloodgood - Detonation 8- X-Sinner - Get It 9- Precious Death - If You Must 10- Angelica - Self Titled
My personal top 10 with the same criteria: 1. Stryper - In God We Trust (started it all) 2. Whitecross - s/t 3. King’s X - Faith, Hope, Love 4. Holy Soldier - s/t 5. Guardian - Fire & Love 6. Deliverance - Weapons of our Warfare 7. Tourniquet - Psychosurgery 8. Vengeance Rising - Human Sacrifice 9. Extol - Burial 10. Antestor - The Forsaken Albums hard to leave out: Barren Cross - State of Control, Mortification - Scrolls, could always add influential Stryper, Tourniquet, Deliverance, Whitecross, extol, etc… I’ve also gone back to bands i wasn’t exposed to such as Saint, Xalt, Leviticus, etc and they’re amazing. We are blessed to have a treasure trove of great Christian music to enjoy and enrich our lives.
Just got done listening to this for a 3rd time, just love reliving it. Any chance you could do an episode on the Honorable Mentions? This category definitely played a role in filling the gaps between listens to our Top 10.
Wow... I'm so glad this video was a blessing to you!!!! Yeah---I may do a video like that sometime... right now I have a TON of other (similar) vids planned... Stay in touch and keep your eyes on Jesus!
Thanks for the list. I love Stryper & Barren Cross & I'm familiar with most of the bands you discussed but there is a few that I definitely need to check out!
Pastor Brad, I thought you'd like to know, my dear brother Chris was the drummer years ago for Deliverance; truly a great inventive drummer, a super friend and brother to me, and love Lord Jesus with all his heart ✌️💜🙏(Chris passed away a few years ago and it's a total loss) 🕯️
I'm following your Top-10 very closely, Brad! Heavy on Stryper for sure!! Love BC and HS!! I'm feeling a little lighter on Saint and a bit heavier on Deliverance and Believer (Extraction). Love this video. Thanks for doing it!! ❤
I saw savior machine back in the early 90s. They toured with Deliverance. Definitely a different band than deliverance. Kind of dark and almost gothic like.
I bought a cassette in the bargain bin at a Christian book store in 1991. It remains one of my favorite melodic metal albums of all time. The band was called Angelica and the album is "Walking in Faith". It's full on shrederrific melodic metal with amazing vocals. If you haven't ever heard it, look it up and you'll be hooked.
I’m saving this video because I didn’t even know about many of these groups! Growing up, I was mostly secular who didn’t even truly know God. Now I’m about to have a playlist that’s about to seriously grow !
So many great bands and great memories. I had no idea how good I had it to be able to go to Cornerstone and see so many of these bands. All of the big bands at the time toured, so I assumed the Christian ones did too. Saint was also a favorite of mine, and I remembered how cool it was to hang out with Richard Lynch and John Mahan. It wasn't until I got into the business a few years later that I understood how much it meant to them to hang out with the people who loved their art.
Man, what an amazing list. As you walked us through number 10 to number one I would say, "Yes! Great choice!!" Each album was the same. YES! YES! Love every album on your list. Fantastic video. Happy New Year!
Awesome... we're clearly cut from the same "musical cloth" :-) !!! And -- as I said the the video, the way the Lord used these albums was (and continues to be) amazing! Blessings to you--and Happy New Year! Thanks for watching and sharing!
Awesome list:Here’s my Top 10: X-sinner-Get it Bloodgood-Detonation The Crucified-S/T Believer-Extraction From Mortality Bride-Live To Die Saint-Too Late for Living Stryper-To Hell with Devil Guardian-First Watch Deliverance-Stay of Execution Tourniquet-Vanishing Lessons. There are so many awesome Christian metal albums but these are my top 10!God Bless!
@ I should’ve made a top 20 cause 10 not enough and if so would be like this: Messiah Prophet-Rock the Flock Rez-Innocent Blood One Bad Pig-Smash Sacred Warrior-Rebellion Barnabas-Little Foxes Rage of Angels Neon Cross-S/t Tourniquet-Psychosurgery Savior Machine-S/t Holy Soldier
Stryper is my favorite of all. Saw them in 85 in Dallas, Tx. They were awesome and still are rockin for Jesus. Ive saw them 8 times through the years. Just saw them in Arlington Tx for their 40th Anniversary tour. Sounded amazing vocally and instrumental. God Bless.
I remember the Better Book Room. I was blown away with how big that place was, for this rural Kansas farm kid our grocery store was probably smaller. That was the first place I’d been to that had samples to listen to and had a large selection of heavier music.
Stryper was first intro to Christian rock. Then when I went to my local Baptist church a guy introduced me to more. There were more bands rocking for Jesus?! What? Then I met some good friends who introduced me to Rez Band Jerusalem, X-Sinner, AD, can we count Kansas? Then I discovered my favorite band, Bride, then I got into Tourniquet, Deliverance, and many others! To this day I listen to those bands. Oh can’t forget Mortification.
Great list! Even better great testimony! I too was a young man whose god was music. I was a Christian at this time, but a lot of the Christian music was really good, but it wasn’t my Aerosmith! Long story short, like you, GOD was working on my heart. There came a day I walked to the alley and left my album collection for the garbage truck! The rest is GOD’s rock story!!
I got saved in '89 and did the same thing as you with my metal collection. I got rid of them all including the entire set of KISS albums to date. I was discovering all these bands at the same time as you and agree with you about the albums on your list except Holy Soldier (not in the same class imo). Your all time list is all 1980s albums and from listening to you I understand why. I love all that stuff and still listen to it, but for me Stryper's best album is No More Hell to pay. My favourite band is POD who are a fusion band metal/punk/rap/reggae but God has spoken to me powerfully through their work. I also love Disciple, Wolves at the Gate and Demon Hunter. Praise God for all these bands doing their thing to praise our King and share the good news. And thanks for sharing your top ten.
Yeah dude I love strypers new stuff and those bands you mentioned as well! But you know when I ran it through the two criteria that I mentioned in terms of turntable longevity and spiritual impact I just couldn't deny the 10 that I listed. We are blessed with so many great bands! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I grew up in the church listening to bands like Petra and White Heart (they're still two of my favorites), but I didn't get into heavy metal until about 2000, so there's a lot of good older stuff I was never exposed to. When I did get into heavy metal, I at first hated the death metal style vocals, but I loved the guitars and drums of music like Becoming the Archetype so much that I was determined to acquire a taste for the vocals. I'm still picky about which metal I like (I wouldn't really call myself a metalhead even though I like a lot of metal). Anyway, my top 10ish Christian metal albums: 1. Tourniquet - Psychosurgery 2. Becoming the Archetype - Celestial Completion 3. Disciple - Rise Up (/self-titled) 4. Haste the Day - Attack of the Wolf King 5. Tourniquet - Microscopic View of a Telescopic Realm 6. Becoming the Archetype - Dichotomy 7. Skillet - Rise 8. Leah - Kings and Queens 9. Extol - Extol 10. Disciple - Southern Hospitality 11. Leah - Of Earth and Angels 12. Disciple - Back Again Skillet - Hey You I Love Your Soul is still my favorite Skillet album, but it isn't metal enough for this list (Skillet didn't really start doing metal until the Collide album). The line in my head dividing hard rock and heavy metal puts Guardian on the side of rock too or else they'd be on this list. I'd never heard of Saint and never actually listened to Barren Cross. I'll have to listen to more of those cuz I like the samples I hear here.
Love it... yeah, as an almost 60 year old (58) ... I've seen the defintion of "metal" evolve... A LOT! We all have that "line n our head" as you so appropriately stated. in the end I like heavy, hooky, melodic, passionate, well-performed/produce music that honors Jesus and edifies saints!!! :-) Form your list--I think you'll find a lot to like with SAINT and BARREN CROSS. With saint--I would begin with 1986's "TIMES END" and 1988's "TOO LATE FOR LIVING" -- classics -- But their catalgue has a lot of gems in it! Blessings!
In the 80s and early 90s, bands like Holy Soldier (debut), Barren Cross (State of Control), Bloodgood (Out of the Darkness), Stryper (Soldiers and THDTD), Saint (Time's End and Too Late) and Whitecross (first 3) have released some amazing albums as listed and as you mentioned many more. Other bands include Daniel Band, Leviticus, Messiah Prophet, Joshua, Mastedon, Rez and many more bands. I have over 400 CDs and 150 LPs. I got saved around 1980/81 and got into Christian Rock, Hard Rock and Metal in 1985 and my world changed. These bands were my Music Ministers and the lyrics spoke to me and even though I wavered and had may trials and temptations too numerous to mention, these bands along with Bible reading, prayer and other believers (both on my life and on line like yourself) have kept me on the right path. Some people in my life years past and now don't understand my love and passion for this music. I always loved guitar driven music with soaring vocals with pounding drums and great bass for the low end with a great message of hope. Even bands that are not as as active or not at all like Rez, Daniel Band and Petra are among my favorites as they released a fair amount of music to enjoy. Then there are veteran and younger bands that still release good albums like Theocracy, Narnia, Stryper, Jerusalem, Fear Not Saint, etc who keep going. Brad, I have a question: do you still have those older Christian cassettes you got back in the 80s? Do you still collect certain albums on CD and/or vinyl LP?
Hey [Commenter’s Name]! Wow, what an incredible testimony and an awesome journey through the world of Christian rock and metal! It’s amazing how God has used these bands-not just their music, but their ministry-to encourage and strengthen your walk with Him. I love how you pointed out the powerful mix of soaring vocals, pounding drums, and bold messages of hope. That’s the beauty of this genre-it’s not just music, it’s ministry! As for your question-no… I’ve pretty much gone 100% digital (streaming)…. I LOVED albums in the day… but these days---it’s just not my thing to listen to music that way---I listen on my phone, computer, etc. … at work.. or wherever I am. Thanks for sharing your story-it’s a blessing to hear how God has worked in your life through this music. Keep rocking for Jesus, brother, and never stop shining His light!
I paused the video at the beginning and recalled my favorite bands of the genre: Mortification, Tourniquet, Vengeance Rising, Deliverance, Theocracy, and the mighty Stryper. Now, to unpause and see how many will be mentioned.
As you know now --- that you finished the video :-) --- Rising... Deliverance.... and Theocracy are GREAT.. they just weren't the bands God used in my life in the 1980s ... Blessing bro---thanks for sharing~!
@PastorBradRocks you're most welcome. I did make a list of those bands you mentioned in the beginning. My pursuit of music is constant and I love recommendations anytime
One more question (two really). I would love a list of any band you can think of that has the spiritual power of the albums you covered here. But on Stryper's opening track Abyss from THWTD, is the loud noise Symbolic of the door slamming to the bottomless pit from Revelation 20, or perhaps the thunderclap that happens during the rapture?
1. Petra - This Means War 2. Saint - Too Late For Living 3. Pillar - Fire Proof 4. Tourniquet - Stop The Bleeding 5. Vengeance Rising - Self Titled 6. Final Axe - Beyond Hells Gate 7. Stryper - No More Hell To Pay 8. Guardian - Fire And Love 9. Bloodgood - Denotation 10. Red - Innocence and Instinct
You have a broader Sweet spot than me! I like so much of that list but I guess I'm just an '80s metalhead at heart! 😀👍 Thank you so much for sharing that!
Whaaaaaaat, Theocracy didn't make your list. I Am, Easter, Light Of The World, Mirror If Souls, Sinner to name a few and the latest Mosaic the whole CD. God Bless You pastor. Happy New Year!
Think about it dude... my Top 10 was written in stone 15 years before Matt Smith recorded his first note. :-) I LOVE Theocracy.... but when you're talking about reducing the universe of music down to just 10 albums --- and you qualifiy them by the criteria I laid out in the beginning---some albums/artists just won't make the cut---sorry... but I'm glad they are on YOUR LIST---It's all good! Thanks for watching/sharing!
Good stuff with the heavy metal recognition. I never really got into the heavy metal, but loved the rock n roll of groups like: the 77s, the Choir, Resurrection Band, Daniel Amos, Lost Dogs, Larry Norman.
1. Stryper - THWTD 2. Tourniquet - PsychoSurgery 3. King’s X - Faith, Hope, Love 4. Saint - Too Late for Living 5. Barren Cross - Atomic Arena 6. Holy Soldier - s/t 7. Deliverance - Weapons of Our Warfare 8. Bride - Snakes in the Playground 9. Whitecross - s/t 10. The Showdown - Temptation Come My Way
I got into Christian heavy metal like Deliverance in 1990 while on summer holidays. My cousin's fiance was in the military at the time, and his roommate was a Satanist, so to combat having to listen to his music, he got into bands like Tournaquet, Bloodgood, Deliverance, etc. Anyway, when I started listening to them, I was hooked. I brought them back to my church, and they ate it up, too. So, a friend, who was the head pastor's son, went on vacation the following year to California. At the time, we knew bands like Deliverance were attending a church in Southern California, and there was an address on the cassette liner notes where you can attend. I told him he had to check it out, so they took a day out of their vacation to go and see the church and found where it was. The problem was, there was no church. It was just an abandoned strip mall where followers hung out. His dad was so mad. Still love the music, though. The next year, my church at the time brought Bloodgood in for a concert with Whitecross. I never thought that would ever happen. It was epic. That guitarist, Rex Carroll, was telling the audience about his degree in music and played a piece of Bach on his guitar. It was ethereal.
Some of my favorite are: Choatic Resemblance-Nazerites, Holy Soldier-Last Train, Whitecross-Fear No Evil, and High Gear, Alice Cooper-Brutal Planet, One Bad Pig-I Scream Sunday, Fear Not-S/T, Pastor Brad-Christian Metal Punk, and Whiteheart-Highlands!
Thanks for the video. Tourniquet was my favorite of that time. Betrayal "The Passing" was a favorite as well. The Rage of Angels album really rocked too. Nowadays just about any Demon Hunter or Project 86 album always does good by me. Also love Sleeping Giant's "preachcore" style.
I remembermy bc headbanging days. My favorite bands were Kiss and Ozzy. When I got saved I found Saint, the Crucified, Vengeance Rising. Deliverance. I thank Jesus for Christian metal Rock on for Jesus
I love this list! My personal favorite album is Detonation from Bloodgood. I remember thinking there was no way Christians could rock this hard, but it’s my favorite because of the lyrics that stay with me to this day.
I love your channel reminds me of going to Northwestern bookstore in Minnesota and listening to CDs for free in buying the ones that you liked good old days
Thank you post this! I had no idea these bands existed. I was an eighty’s metal head, but lost interest with the satanic lyrics. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t have listened to these albums then, but recently I’ve been craving heavier music and these bands are perfect for hard rocking Christians!
I would agree with all ten (at least the bands) but my number one is RAGE OF ANGELS!!! Unbelievable from first to last song. Vocals, guitars and drums and instrumentation. Love love love it to this day
Bloodgood kinda has a Saxon feel. Saxon has a great song with a great Christian overtone. It can also be labeled a Christian song. "Crusader". Pastor Brad if you haven't heard this song, check it out.
Great video! I wish I had heard of Saint back in the day; I'm sure I would have loved them. I was more of a Petra kid. I did have that Holy Soldier tape. Also loved the Elefante brothers' Mastedon (LOFC Audio was awesome), Leviticus, Idle Cure, Crystavox. Remember those Star Song compilation tapes? Ultimate Metal, etc. That was some good stuff. I think Petra's On Fire! was probably my ultimate favorite. Looking forward to watching more of your content!
Michael Bloodgood died July 29th 2022 from an earlier stroke. He was a pastor at Calvary Chapel Redmond in Washington State. Met him at a music festival in the eighties. He originally worked at a local musical instrument store.
I love all those bands, but when you only have 10 and it comes down to the two criteria that I mentioned, the 10 I mentioned are the 10, no doubt. But beyond that there are about 300,000 awesome Christian metal bands that I really really dig a lot! 😀👍. Okay perhaps a slight exaggeration but you know what I mean.
Brad that is a phenomenal list and I love everyone of the albums on this list. I’ll be honest I wasn’t really familiar with Saint up until a couple years ago. But listening to their music you’re right they sound exactly like Iron Maiden. Whitecross is the Christian equivalent of Ratt and Sacred Warrior is the equivalent of Queensryche. I remember as a kid before hearing Stryper my favorite band was Petra and they’re the ones that got me into Christian rock. Don’t get me wrong Petra is still in my top 3 favorite bands of all time. I remember back September of 85 my childhood best friend said take a listen to this group their name is Stryper and the album was Soldiers Under Command and they immediately rocked my world. They’re one of the few bands from that era that what you heard on the albums harmonies and dueling guitars is what they sounded like in concert. No alterations. Stryper really opened the doors for bands like Whitecross, Bloodgood, Barren Cross, and Holy Soldier. As a matter of fact I don’t know if you know this or not. Daryn Hinton who helped fund The Yellow And Black Attack for Stryper also funded Holy Soldiers self titled debut album as well. I’ve always appreciated Stryper for there strong beliefs and lyrics as well. They were one of the few bands back in the day that could reach people who wouldn’t set foot in a church. I love all the bands but my 2nd favorite band of all time is Whitecross. Rex Carroll lead guitarist is the Christian version of Eddie VanHalen. 1. To Hell With The Devil 2. Sacred Warrior Rebellion 3. Whitecross self titled debut album. 4. Skillet Surviving The Game. 5. Barren Cross Atomic Arena. 6. Bloodgood Out Of The Darkness. 7. Holy Soldier Last Train 8. Holy Soldier 9. Barren Cross State Of Control. 10. Stryper Soldiers Under Command, The Yellow And Black Attack, In God We Trust. All the albums are in my top ten. God bless pastor Brad.
Great list and great thoughts. I've always kind of associated Saint with a Judas priest sound, and baron cross at times sounds a bit like iron maiden to me, just in places. Thank you for sharing!
@@PastorBradRocks you’re right. And I’ve always thought that Stryper sounded a little like Steelheart and vice versa. There so many great albums that it is really hard to choose. The one thing that I’ve always liked about Petra is if you look on the inserts of almost every album. Every song has a scripture verse that that song is based on. I always thought that was really cool. Another thing I’ve always liked about Stryper is that they have never been afraid of standing up to the church and to the secular world. And what I mean by that is like for example To Hell With The Devil was very taboo back in the day and a lot parents were against there music because of that. Jimmy Swaggart the guy whose ministry led the Sweet Family aka Robert and Michael to Christ. And Jimmy Swaggart also sent his parishioners to boycott their concerts.
@ brother I know. It was just my way of saying it was a great one. It’s the album for me that turned me to listening to Christian Metal. I was blown away the first time I heard it and then went and listened to everything they did. Kudos for your Chanel. I just found it tonight and live it. God Bless!!! I’m going to have to check out some of the ones you listed.
Great video! I was never the metal head you are, but those first several Stryper albums were undeniable. I did love some of the mellower Christian rock, AD, DA, Mylon, earlier Petra, White Heart, Russ Taff, etc.
I'm from Wichita, and know the Better Book Room! Great testimony and great list. Wish we could've hung out and rocked out! Stryper-Soldiers was my introduction, been a Stryper fan since. 777
Judging by the amount of replies, this is a great and successful topic. I think you should make a few more top 10 lists. Maybe top 10 thrash bands, death metal bands...etc. I can see that this would really spark some memories of the listeners. Once again, this was an awesome video/throwback.
LOVE those suggestions! Right now---I'm doing a series (new "episodes" come out about once per month) on "Christian Rock & Metal Sub-genres" ... once I finish that I will delve into top 10 Lists for the sub-genres! Thank you for sharing that observation!!!
My top ten in no particular order Soldier's Under Command-Stryper Tourniquet-Stop The Bleeding Tourniquet-Psycho Surgery Deliverance-Deliverance Believer-Extraction From Mortality Believer-Sanity Obscure Stryper-THWTD Mortification-Mortification Sacred Warrior-Rebellion Deliverance-Weapons Of Our Warfare
Just found your channel! Great list... I could have made it myself. So many things in common. i am also from Indiana and had a very similar musical journey. Keep on keepin' on, bro! To Hell With the Devil was amazing!!!
Just finding this channel and want to say God bless to those working on it. There are so many aspects of this testimony I can completely relate to. The good thing about music is there are no rules about what you like and don’t. Clearly, there was a certain flavour that grabbed you. The funny thing for me is this genre was a little too wimpy for me compared to bands like Tourniquet, Deliverance and later, Extol. On the other hand, Larry Norman, early Petra and Resurrection Band (not that much after they changed to Rez) grabbed me from being brought up in church where all rock and roll was bad. I confess the top 10 list here sounds incredibly 1 dimensional musically, but if that’s what got you, that’s what got you.
It absolutel IS "one dimensional" -- while I "enjoy/appreciate, and occasionally LOVE" a hard-rock/metal song outside of 80s Melodic Meta--this is--obviously my "sweet spot" -- unapologetically :-) Blessings, and thanks for watching and sharing!
Thanks for great video! Incredible difficult too choose only ten albums! My list: Stryper: To Hell With The Devil Barren Cross: Atomic Arena Saint: Time's End Stryper: Soldiers Under Command Bloodgood: Out Of The Darkness Jerusalem: Dancing On The Head Of The Serpent X-Sinner: Get It Tourniquet: Psycho Surgery REZ: Civil Rites Bloodgood: Detonation (..and Demon Hunter...and Whitecross...and Tamplin...and Deliverannce...and...) :) God bless!

Sounds like we need to create a website for us old fart headbangers that saw the light. Glad to know there are a lot of us out there. My absolutely undeniable favorite new band is All For The King. Chaotic Resemblance deserves some props too. Jesus still rocks us old guys!
Hmmm... let's have a go: 10. Eye of the Storm - Tempest 9. This Means War - Petra 8. Revelation - Darrell Mansfield 7. Between Heaven and Hell - Rez 6. Holy Soldier - Holy Soldier 5. Whitecross - Whitecross 4. Warrior - Jerusalem 3. Against the Law - Stryper 2. Silence Screams - Rez 1. Soldiers Under Command - Stryper
I love all the groups mentioned..Die Happy and Rose where 2 other groups I loved..I have probably over 200 cassettes of Christian metal. I would love to have all of my stuff on cds
Thanks so much for your heartfelt introduction to so much good music. Your testimony is a testimony of how the Lord Jesus' love and grace isn't limited to one type of music genre. I recently came across Sacred Warrior's album "Master's Command" just recently when looking for something to listen to while drawing. The title track just blew me away -- a powerful line in the lyrics: "How can you say that you love Me yet you have so much hate for your brother? Don't you know that the Law says that we're murderers if we hate one another?" Both the way it was sung and with the backing music make it a continous powerful heart-check. It's followed by a dynamite track "Beyond the Mountain". Anyway, I've never heard of most of the albums you mentioned (new to this genre) and will be checking them out now! Be blessed.
Wow, welcome in! I love sacred warrior! Have fun going down the wonderful rabbit hole of classic Christian metal! Blessings and stay in touch. My email is in the description of every video, reach out anytime you like.
If I could expand it a bit... off the top of my head... Resurrections Band--Colors, and D&K "The Pledge" ... and Rage of Angles debut... would be in there... not sure after that... there are so many.
KILLER list, bro! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 My list, based on the same criteria (turntable longevity, spiritual impact), in no particular order: Bloodgood - Detonation Bloodgood - All Stand Together Petra - Beyond Belief Whitecross - In The Kingdom Stryper - In God We Trust Barren Cross - State Of Control Idle Cure - S/T Holy Soldier - S/T The Brave - Battle Cries Mastedon - In The Jungle Bless all you Christian rock/metal heads, in the matchless name of Jesus our Savior, the eternally anointed King!
A couple other great Christian hard rock/metal albums were Rock, Power, Praise, which was a bunch of Christian rockers doing hard versions of hymns. And P.K. Mitchell project, which was the same kind of thing but a little heavier. Really cool albums.
Your story sounds like a carbon copy of mine, which took place in late 1985. Same music love, same destroying of old record collection, same Stryper ONLY in my secular collection, just so many overlaps in our story, and then the same loves of Christian metal in the 80s. We have so much in common for sure. Love this video.
Appreciate your video. As a kid from the 80s....and from Indiana I was into skate punk then metal when I was introduced to Master of Puppets by Metallica. I grew up in the church and youth group but never fit into any popular cliques. Music did help me though and at 16 I started playing guitar and 54 I'm still playing...just not as fast. I appreciate musicians more than bands today. I will say this, Testament becomes my thrash band of choice when I need a shot of adrenaline but anymore I will have the Joy FM on the radio or Mercy Me on Spotify list. Anywho rock on and God bless.
My favorite Christian rock bands do not get a mention unfortunately, Jerusalem, Narnia and Golden Resurrection all from Sweden. And for me the greatest Christian rock band are Oficina G3 from Brazil. I played in a band called Patmos in Leicester, UK. This is one of our songs (where I am playing all the instruments and singing), it is Jean 3:16 in French. May the Lord bless you, Pastor Brad. All the glory to our wonderful Saviour. th-cam.com/video/BufufvCuABA/w-d-xo.html
Dude... I've featured all of those bands in several videos--great bands Jerusalem Vol. 1 & 2, Dancing on the Head of the Serpent... Warrior... great stuff! And Narnia and Golden Resurrection are great---Thanks for sharing!
@PastorBradRocks Good to hear from you, Pastor Brad. I suggest you check out Oficina G3, in Brazil they also have many secular fans although they are down the line Gospel. By the way, did you listen to the video I sent you. Blessings Michael
Great collection and your commiment ist extraordinary. Thanks for sharing. I wish that the Swiss would not hold on to the clichés that Rock and Jesus don't go together. I had to leave good Christian groups behind me, for that reason. I love Metal and I strongly think the message of Cristianity fit together.
Thank you---and may God bless you as you seek out a community of Christ-followers who appreciate the beauty/blessings of Christ-honoring hard music! You are of course, always welcome here :-) Praying for you this afternoon!
Pastor Brad I've watched several of your videos but I haven't 9heard you mention a band that truly blessed my life. Blood-N-Fire Mr. Intercession from Detroit well worth a listen.
WOW---I had never heard of them----just looked them up--and scheduled to feature them in an upcoming "10 Underrated Bans" video---I schedule way ahead---so it will be a while---but I look forward to sharing this band with the channel----THANKS for telling me about them~and thanks for being part of the community!
Have you seen any of these bands live? One of the greatest concerts I ever attended was when Barron Cross opened for Stryper way back in the 80's. Saw Whitecross in the early 90's. And one of my favorite Cristian rock albums is Petra's Beat The System. The first big arena rock show I ever went to was Petra on this tour. Love your vids!!
I have my Stryper, but here are some others that aren't in your list. There are maybe some not listed by others below. Not in any order, just my top faves. Tourniquet-Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance Argyle Park-s/t, heavy industrial Atomic Opera-For Madmen Only, In the style of King's X Believer-Dimensions, very well done thrash/death metal Brainchild s/t, heavy industrial Chatterbox s/t, heavy industrial Circle of Dust-Machines of Our Disgrace, heavy industrial Generation s/t, heavy industrial Killed by Cain s/t, very heavy metal Klank-Still Suffering, heavy industrial Mortal-Fathom, industrial rock Saviour Machine-II, prog-rock, also mentioned below That's 12, but I couldn't not mention any of these! God bless Pastor Brad!
Dude, you talk about Wichita, KS…I live here now, a transplant from Chicago but moving in about 8 months (Lord willing) to guess where? Indianapolis, Indiana (unless The Lord steers me elsewhere). Anyway, funny how we have similar “come to Jesus” moments with a lot of the same bands and lived or will live in the same towns. Take care, keep rocking and Happy New Year!
My top 10 Christian Rock bands are: 1. Petra 2. Stryper 3. Whitecross 4. Sacred Warrior 5. Barren Cross 6. Holy Soldier 7. Bloodgood 8. Bride 9. Deliverance 10. Disciple. Honorable mention to Tourniquet. As much as I love Stryper and would want to put them number 1, Petra will always be number 1 because they were the most instrumental in leading me to the Lord. They were the first Christian Rock band I heard ( I'd heard Amy Grant and Michael W Smith before them and I love them too but they were Christian Pop than Rock). I was always a long haired Rocker and had been lectured by so many legalists about how evil rock and roll was and hearing the music 🎵🎶 of Petra made me realize I could still love Jesus and Rock and Roll too! I actually got to meet John Schlitt and Bob Hartman back in 2005 during their first farewell tour. I told John Schlitt the old joke my dad always told me: There's never been any reason to Head East. I remember him laughing 😂 at that one. Sweet man with a heart ❤️ of gold 🪙 and a good sense of humor. Another honorable mention goes to Degarmo and Key. They were instrumental in my early walk with the Lord too. R.I.P Dana Key
This is a great video. I too love Saint, "Time's End" and "Too Late For Living" are so amazing, and Stryper of coure, "Soldiers Under Command" is my favorite but some of their new stuff is really amazing, if you haven't heard their song "Yahweh" check it out, I cry every time I hear that song, so powerful. In the interest of full disclosure I hit fast-forward a little during your video (ADHD what can I say) but I didn't hear you mention Bloodgood's "Detonation" album. For me that is the gold standard of Christian Metal.
Awesome... Yes... I love Stryper's new material... but when you're boiling things down to "top 10" and passing it through the filters I mentioned... you just can't include everything :-)... I love Detonation... but Out of the Darkness--ministered to me--at a crucial time--so it got the nudge. Blessings brother!!!
The first 4 or 5 albums by Bride were great! Die Happy was really good, too. There was also a band called Red Sea, who did one album titled Blood and it's fantastic!! Glenn Kaiser is great for blues rock!

Killer.... blessings bro! Thanks for sharing!
Love that list. Bride is one of my favorite bands.
Thank you and bless you so much! Thank you for sharing your story! God is good!
Amen...without Jesus, it's gonna be hell

Hammer and Nail 2as white cross best album
@@tonybatista1928 I agree, Hammer and Nail is musically their best album, and I almost put that one, but based on the criteria of biggest spiritual impact the first one edged it out.
1. Skillet - Collide
2. P.O.D - Satellite
3. Petra - Unseen Power
4. Flyleaf - Flyleaf
5. Bride - Snakes in the Playground

Nice to see the Crucified on your list. I went to high school with those guys.
“An overwhelming sense of blessing and thanks!”. This is similar to my experience at the Petra 50th anniversary concert. Great video, brother!
God has blessed us with so many great bands/albums! Thank you for watching and sharing!
Hi Pastor Brad, your list is awesome. Thank you. My favorites are.
1. Haven - Your dying day.
2. Veni Domine- Fall Babylon Fall
3. Mortification- Scrolls of the Meggiloth
4. Paramaecium- Exhumed of the Earth
5. Stryper- To hell with the devil
6. Bloodgood- Shakin the world
7. Living Sacrifice- Living Sacrifice

Love the variety of tastes represented in everyone's lists! Blessings brother---thanks for sharing!
@@PastorBradRocksDale Thompson talked about how he took lead singer for Stryper at a Cali show after Michael quit. He said they announced him as the new lead singer and he said nope I got my own band. Could you imagine if Dale Thompson had become the new lead singer of Stryper?
Ahhhh Veni Domine. Both that and Material Sanctuary
Haven was the best and really sounded like Maiden to me back then!
The Sowers sounds cool and all, but it’s not a real band. It’s A.I. I think. Some cool tunes, but just a computer program…. ☹️
In junior high a girl gave me soldiers under command on cassette... I went home and listen to it and I had goosebumps and chills like never in my life tears were coming out of my eyes because I had just heard the soldiers under command title track!! It blew me away
I can TOTALLY RELATE... Thanks for sharing that story!
Yeah I'm sure it's pretty obvious. Thank you for watching and sharing those thoughts!
Dude, I’ve got saints times end on vinyl and I’ve never listened to it.🤣I’ll break it now. I love your channel. It’s really gotten me back into Christian metal. I had really gotten away from it until I started watching your videos. Thank you.
Hey dude you're totally welcome! Wow I bet times end sounds great on final! Blessings!
Love anything that takes me back to 80's Christian Metal Memory Lane. Nice job PB, I was a wild teenager too back in the day but found Jesus by the grace of God and He used this music to give me hope along the journey to finding the straighter road. This was a tough list when it came time to finish out my 8-9-10 positions, so I had to add my Honorable Mentions:
10. Leviticus - Strongest Power
9. Stryper - Yellow & Black Attack
8. Darryl Mansfield - Revelation
7. Bloodgood - Rock In A Hard Place
6. Leviticus - I Shall Conquer
5. Bloodgood - Self Titled
4. Saint - Time's End
3. Barren Cross - Rock For The King
2. Stryper - Soldiers Under Command
1. Stryper - THWTD
Honorable Mentions, Saint (Warriors of the Son), Messiah Prophet Band (Master of the Metal), Whitecross (self-titled), Barren Cross (Atomic Arena), Danield Band (not really an album, just a collection of great songs), Idle Cure (self-titled), Bloodgood (Detonation).
Sweeet... thanks for sharing! I'm with you (obviously) on so many levels!
I’m right there with you, Pastor Brad. Saved in ‘85, threw out all my secular metal albums, and discovered a beautiful world of Christian hard rock & metal .
Here’s my top 10:
Rage Of Angels
Soldiers Under Command
Times End
State Of Control (Barren Cross)
Whitecross S/T
Bloodgood S/T
Messiah Prophet - Master of the Metal

Love your list!!!! Many of those bands/albums would make my to "15" :-) Blessings!
Holy Soldier - first two albums
Petra - Beyond Belief, Unseen Power, No Doubt
White Cross - In the Kingdom
The Brave - Battle Cries
Guardian - Fire and Love
Bride - Rattlesnakes in the Playground
Shout - It Won’t Be Long
Great list! Blessings/thanks for sharing!
Had so many of these on cassette back in the day. Bloodgood and Stryper still faves. 12:02
Awesome---thanks for sharing!
Loving this list. Funny, listening to your testimony reminds me of exactly what I went through in my conversion. Here's the list that helped me through my teen years.
1- Rage of Angels - Self Titled
2- Sacred Warrior - Wicked Generation
3- Barren Cross - State of Control
4- The Crucified - Pillars of Humanity
5- Bride- Snakes in the Playground
6- Deliverance - Learn
7- Bloodgood - Detonation
8- X-Sinner - Get It
9- Precious Death - If You Must
10- Angelica - Self Titled
Love it.... thanks for sharing that! Blessings!
Great list. I love learn from deliverance. One of my all time favorite albums. Wicked Generation is awesome.
My personal top 10 with the same criteria:
1. Stryper - In God We Trust (started it all)
2. Whitecross - s/t
3. King’s X - Faith, Hope, Love
4. Holy Soldier - s/t
5. Guardian - Fire & Love
6. Deliverance - Weapons of our Warfare
7. Tourniquet - Psychosurgery
8. Vengeance Rising - Human Sacrifice
9. Extol - Burial
10. Antestor - The Forsaken
Albums hard to leave out: Barren Cross - State of Control, Mortification - Scrolls, could always add influential Stryper, Tourniquet, Deliverance, Whitecross, extol, etc… I’ve also gone back to bands i wasn’t exposed to such as Saint, Xalt, Leviticus, etc and they’re amazing. We are blessed to have a treasure trove of great Christian music to enjoy and enrich our lives.
Thanks for sharing bro!!!!
Thanks you for sharing that list!!!!! Blessings!
Awesoem.... thanks for sharing that list! Blessings!
Super cool! thanks for watching and sharing! Enjoy checking those bands out!
So sorry. Thank yo so much for sharing that! Blessings to you!
I'm following your Top-10 very closely, Brad! Heavy on Stryper for sure!! Love BC and HS!! I'm feeling a little lighter on Saint and a bit heavier on Deliverance and Believer (Extraction). Love this video. Thanks for doing it!! ❤
Blessings to you brother! Thanks for watching and sharing!
Saviour Machine I & II are out of this world.
I love that there are all kinds of music--that God can use to edify saints and glorify His Name! Thanks for sharing!
Love Savior Machine!
Love Angelica! Thanks for sharing!
I’m saving this video because I didn’t even know about many of these groups! Growing up, I was mostly secular who didn’t even truly know God. Now I’m about to have a playlist that’s about to seriously grow !
Awesome----Enjoy the journey of discovery! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you PB for a rockin' 2024, looking forward to a happy new year
You are welcome----onward and upward for Jesus in 2025, blessings!
Lot's a good/true throughts there... thanks for sharing bro!
Awesome list:Here’s my Top 10:
X-sinner-Get it
Bloodgood-Detonation
The Crucified-S/T
Believer-Extraction From Mortality
Bride-Live To Die
Saint-Too Late for Living
Stryper-To Hell with Devil
Guardian-First Watch
Deliverance-Stay of Execution
Tourniquet-Vanishing Lessons.
There are so many awesome Christian metal albums but these are my top 10!God Bless!
Nice list! thanks for sharing that!
@ I should’ve made a top 20 cause 10 not enough and if so would be like this:
Messiah Prophet-Rock the Flock
Rez-Innocent Blood
One Bad Pig-Smash
Sacred Warrior-Rebellion
Barnabas-Little Foxes
Rage of Angels
Neon Cross-S/t
Tourniquet-Psychosurgery
Savior Machine-S/t
Holy Soldier
Stryper is my favorite of all. Saw them in 85 in Dallas, Tx. They were awesome and still are rockin for Jesus. Ive saw them 8 times through the years. Just saw them in Arlington Tx for their 40th Anniversary tour. Sounded amazing vocally and instrumental. God Bless.
Awesome---thanks for sharing that!
I remember the Better Book Room. I was blown away with how big that place was, for this rural Kansas farm kid our grocery store was probably smaller. That was the first place I’d been to that had samples to listen to and had a large selection of heavier music.
That's awesome! Is it still there? It's been a long time since I was in Wichita.
It is no longer around. In fact, the only Christian store now is Mardel.
We're blessed aren't we!? I think that's what makes picking a top 10 kind of hard and why I needed those two criteria to narrow it down. Blessings!
@@PastorBradRocksyes we were. Growing up in Ft. Smith, Arkansas it was difficult to find Christian rock music.
"New Birth" is a beautiful thing! Thanks for sharing---2 Cor. 5:17 Blessings!
Anyway, my top 10ish Christian metal albums:
1. Tourniquet - Psychosurgery
2. Becoming the Archetype - Celestial Completion
3. Disciple - Rise Up (/self-titled)
4. Haste the Day - Attack of the Wolf King
5. Tourniquet - Microscopic View of a Telescopic Realm
6. Becoming the Archetype - Dichotomy
7. Skillet - Rise
8. Leah - Kings and Queens
9. Extol - Extol
10. Disciple - Southern Hospitality
11. Leah - Of Earth and Angels
12. Disciple - Back Again
Skillet - Hey You I Love Your Soul is still my favorite Skillet album, but it isn't metal enough for this list (Skillet didn't really start doing metal until the Collide album).
Cool albums some of my five bands are Vengeance Rising,Mortification and Believer.
Nice, you're sweet spot is definitely more thrashy than mine. But those are great bands.
I'm with you on Stryper... my first & only Christian metal albums - THWTD & IGWT... Amazing albums
Thanks for watching and sharing!!! Blessings!
1. Petra - This Means War
2. Saint - Too Late For Living
3. Pillar - Fire Proof
4. Tourniquet - Stop The Bleeding
5. Vengeance Rising - Self Titled
6. Final Axe - Beyond Hells Gate
7. Stryper - No More Hell To Pay
8. Guardian - Fire And Love
9. Bloodgood - Denotation
10. Red - Innocence and Instinct
You have a broader Sweet spot than me! I like so much of that list but I guess I'm just an '80s metalhead at heart! 😀👍 Thank you so much for sharing that!
That is my favorite Petra album. So many classics on that.
@@PastorBradRocks Thank you for replying, I love your videos! We all have your favorites.
@@TLOU-JIM1theocracy is my favourite..Narnia is great too
Good stuff with the heavy metal recognition.
I never really got into the heavy metal, but loved the rock n roll of groups like: the 77s, the Choir, Resurrection Band, Daniel Amos, Lost Dogs, Larry Norman.
Super awesome stuff! Blessings!
1. Stryper - THWTD
2. Tourniquet - PsychoSurgery
3. King’s X - Faith, Hope, Love
4. Saint - Too Late for Living
5. Barren Cross - Atomic Arena
6. Holy Soldier - s/t
7. Deliverance - Weapons of Our Warfare
8. Bride - Snakes in the Playground
9. Whitecross - s/t
10. The Showdown - Temptation Come My Way
Thanks for sharing man.
Wow.... what a story... thanks for sharing! Blessings to you!
Pastor Bob doing the forward for each of those bands. I had always wanted to check out Sanctuary Church, but never got to. Now Pastor Bob does TH-cam.
Nice....... thanks for sharing!
Wow, I forgot about One Bad Pig and Alice. Awesome.
Met Alice in 86.
Saw him like 5 times and met him 2X. He’s a very nice guy.
@@RiffJunky68Wow that's amazing!
Sweeeeeet, thanks for sharing that!
Great list. These albums played a several pivotal roles in my life similarly to you.
Awesome---God is good! Thank you for sharing that! Blessings!
I remembermy bc headbanging days. My favorite bands were Kiss and Ozzy. When I got saved I found Saint, the Crucified, Vengeance Rising. Deliverance. I thank Jesus for Christian metal Rock on for Jesus
Love those kinds of stories! Thanks for sharing!
I need to get the Crucified. Nice and heavy.
I love this list! My personal favorite album is Detonation from Bloodgood. I remember thinking there was no way Christians could rock this hard, but it’s my favorite because of the lyrics that stay with me to this day.
Awesome---Detonation is GREAT! It just so happened that OOTD was the album for that moment/season of my life. Blessings bro, thanks for sharing!
I love your channel reminds me of going to Northwestern bookstore in Minnesota and listening to CDs for free in buying the ones that you liked good old days
Been to that store! Great memories
Super cool!!! Thanks for sharing bro!
Awesome! So glad you found this video!
I would agree with all ten (at least the bands) but my number one is RAGE OF ANGELS!!!
Unbelievable from first to last song. Vocals, guitars and drums and instrumentation. Love love love it to this day
Yeay dude---for sure!!!! RoA is amazing! This would definitely be in my top albums if I expande the # a little bit :-) Blessings!
Bloodgood kinda has a Saxon feel. Saxon has a great song with a great Christian overtone. It can also be labeled a Christian song. "Crusader". Pastor Brad if you haven't heard this song, check it out.
Blessings----thanks for sharing... I've always enjoyed Saxon's "Dallas 1pm"... I'll check out Crusader!
We are twins I too in 87 excepted Jesus and these bands were a great alternative to secular well done video man
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Thank you for sharing that!
Awesome---Welcome in, and thanks for sharing your thoughts! Blessings!
Michael Bloodgood died July 29th 2022 from an earlier stroke. He was a pastor at Calvary Chapel Redmond in Washington State. Met him at a music festival in the eighties. He originally worked at a local musical instrument store.
He is missed. Thank you for sharing that!
Great list. You should give the bands Barnabas, Rez Band, and Jerusalem a listen to. You might put them on your list.
1. To Hell With The Devil
2. Sacred Warrior Rebellion
3. Whitecross self titled debut album.
4. Skillet Surviving The Game.
5. Barren Cross Atomic Arena.
6. Bloodgood Out Of The Darkness.
7. Holy Soldier Last Train
8. Holy Soldier
Hello brother great top 10 albums I like them too Blessings from Seattle Wa and happy new year 2025 ❤️✝️ 🎸 🎵🎶🎵😄👍👍
AWESOME... thank you---and Happy 2025 to you too!
Way to go brother, I was at that 30th anniversary concert too in Indianapolis
Oh yeah----me too... or perhaps you knew that :-) That was a great night! Blessings!
Another powerful album is by Deliverance: Weapons of our Warfare.
Yes in deed!!! Thanks for sharing that!
You can’t leave out Bride. “Rattlesnakes in the playground”
Sure I can... I did :-) Dude... that' s a great album... But it's about story... context... and ONLY HAVE 10 SLOTS ... Blessings!
@
brother I know.

Blessings brother---thanks so much for watching and engaging! Happy New Year!
You are welcome---thanks for being part of the community!
Great video! I was never the metal head you are, but those first several Stryper albums were undeniable. I did love some of the mellower Christian rock, AD, DA, Mylon, earlier Petra, White Heart, Russ Taff, etc.
Awesome... thanks for sharing that----yeah those artists you named were great Ireally enjoyed 80s/90s CCM! Blessings brother!
I'm from Wichita, and know the Better Book Room! Great testimony and great list. Wish we could've hung out and rocked out! Stryper-Soldiers was my introduction, been a Stryper fan since. 777
Awesome---is the Better Bookroom still there??? Blessings!
@PastorBradRocks sadly, no. Closed years ago 😮💨
@PastorBradRocks wow! Thanks a million.

Just found your channel! Great list... I could have made it myself. So many things in common. i am also from Indiana and had a very similar musical journey. Keep on keepin' on, bro! To Hell With the Devil was amazing!!!
Blessings fellow Hoosier! Oward and upward for Jesus in 2025... looking fwd to connecting more--welcome in!
Loved this! Thanks for doing it! Everyone here has good lists.....both Sacrament albums would be on my list

Glad to know there are a lot of us out there.

Awesome----we are BLESSED to have so much great, edifying music!!!!
Stryper(Soldiers), Whitecross Bloodgood yea baby !!
YEA BABY!!!! :-)
Hey Brad, if you had a rule of a band appearing only once, what other 2 albums would you include?
If I could expand it a bit... off the top of my head... Resurrections Band--Colors, and D&K "The Pledge" ... and Rage of Angles debut... would be in there... not sure after that... there are so many.
@ The Pledge is a fascinating choice.
KILLER list, bro! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My list, based on the same criteria (turntable longevity, spiritual impact), in no particular order:
Bloodgood - Detonation
Bloodgood - All Stand Together
Petra - Beyond Belief
Whitecross - In The Kingdom
Stryper - In God We Trust
Barren Cross - State Of Control
Idle Cure - S/T
Holy Soldier - S/T
The Brave - Battle Cries
Mastedon - In The Jungle
Bless all you Christian rock/metal heads, in the matchless name of Jesus our Savior, the eternally anointed King!
Yup... we're definitely cut from the same cloth!!! Blessings!
A couple other great Christian hard rock/metal albums were Rock, Power, Praise, which was a bunch of Christian rockers doing hard versions of hymns. And P.K. Mitchell project, which was the same kind of thing but a little heavier. Really cool albums.
Yes, those are awesome! Thank you for sharing!
Pastor Brad, thanks for the list. Love all of them for sure. My personal best album is Extol 2013.
Yup... respect for Extol... not my personal favorite cup of tea... but appreciate them so much! Thanks for sharing!
Waaaaaaaaay cool! Thanks for sharing that bro! Blessings!
Theocracy is certainly on my list, especially their latest album "Mosaic" from 2023. Killer album!
Awesome... and I agree--amazing album!
Thank you for watching and sharing.... totally get your story! Keep your eyes on Jesus my friend. Thanks for sharing!
White Cross in the kingdom is by. far my favorite Christian album.
That's awesome.... it's a good one! blessings!
@@PastorBradRocks Thanks. I can't say more to that. I'm one of those "secret followers" of your channel. 🙂
Whitecross-Walk With Me. I have the Holy Soldier CD. I also have Petra, Bloodgood, Leviticus, Stryper
Love "walk with me". Nice! Thanks for sharing!
Jerusalem ; Warrior, was my first christian cassette. It will always be a favorite.
I TOTALLY get that, blessings/thanks for sharing that!
Those first two Holy Soldier albums are amazing. They are better than 98% of secular bands.
Sweet... thanks for sharing that!
Yes---I've seen Stryper and Whitecross a bunch of times... saint twice... Bloodgood once in 89 or 90... all amazing!!! thanks for sharing!
I have my Stryper, but here are some others that aren't in your list. There are maybe some not listed by others below. Not in any order, just my top faves.
Tourniquet-Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance
Argyle Park-s/t, heavy industrial
Atomic Opera-For Madmen Only, In the style of King's X
Believer-Dimensions, very well done thrash/death metal
Brainchild s/t, heavy industrial
Chatterbox s/t, heavy industrial
Circle of Dust-Machines of Our Disgrace, heavy industrial
Generation s/t, heavy industrial
Killed by Cain s/t, very heavy metal
Klank-Still Suffering, heavy industrial
Mortal-Fathom, industrial rock
Saviour Machine-II, prog-rock, also mentioned below
That's 12, but I couldn't not mention any of these! God bless Pastor Brad!
That's quite a list! Thanks for sharing!
Alice Cooper rules!
Thanks for sharing!
Love it! Thanks for sharing that!
Great thoughts, lists, in stories! Thank you so much for sharing!
Finally someone mentioned Disciple! Incredible band and super Bible based lyrics.
The first album by Bride was kind of weak but after that....I'd say they had a streak of 6 or 7 good to great albums
Agreed. All of those bands ROCK! Blessings!
