Also remove the drain plug to let water out of the tank. I had the original belt on my compressor over 30 years. No need to check it - you know if its broken or slipping. Still works like new, they don't make stuff that last this long now.

i have a craftsman 5 gallon, 1hp,125psi, model 921.166360. my air compressor gauge only gets up to 25psi and it won't goes any higher.. do you happen to know the problem. thanks

Im not using always my compressor do I have to drain water every month. More than 1 year am not using it?
my air compressor motor spins up then slows down, it is also having trouble pressuring the tank. I replaced the pressure switch because it had gone bad but this is now happening. Could this be a bad check valve; the pressure switch I got is bad or could the motor be bad. It is a oilless air compressor motor.
What's the general opinion on using Amsoil on a new compressor? Is it a good idea or should I put some time on the compressor with regular oil first?
Most or all of the compressors that I have seen use a 30 Weight Non Detergent Oil in them. I think Amsoil is a 5-30 Detergent Oil. I would stick to the real oil and stay away from the synthetic oil. But that is just my opinion.

Thanks. I've also heard you're supposed to let all the air out after each use to keep the moisture from the air from rusting the insides. I've also heard you can get some kind of a dryer to pull the moisture out if you're going to store it for a while. Anyone know about this?
My compressor is almost identical to that porter cable, though mine is a older devilbiss. On that porter cable and mine, there appears to be a "drain plug" on the top/front of the compressor housing. Just to the right of the air line coming out of the top of the compressor. What is this plug for and should I mess with it at all, ever?

Is this the plug at the bottom of the compressor? If so, this is used as a drain plug to change the oil in the
compressor.
eReplacementParts.com Negative. It is at the top of the compressor right next to the air line that comes out and goes down to the tank. It looks like a drain plug.

Hi, unfortunately we cannot supply rings for your Weaver air compressor. You may want to try a local compressor repair shop and see if they can.
Looks almost identical to my Craftsman Pro 25 gal compressor except red instead of black.

Hello Sir very nice and helpful video. I need your suggestion. I'm a dentist and I have small (35Litre) capacity air compressor at my clinic. I'm facing iasue that with air water is also coming. And one day i forgot to switch off the button but I drained valve on so the compressor was running whole night. Now it gives very bad smell and water also comes out from it.. i asked here this to some releted person but they are not so aware about this..

Can you do a video on this compressor about the check valve? My compressor needs a check valve (when the tank fills up, the unit begins to seize and when I turn it off and then back on again, the pressure switch no longer works until I empty the tank) but there aren't two inputs into any of the check valves, just one, and I can't figure out if my unit requires two separate check valves or? My compressor, by the way, is a Craftsman 919.156520
Hi, you don't have to have 2 outlets on a check valve. It is a one way valve that keeps the tank pressure from backing up to the pump.
Thanks for your reply. My compressor check valve is different than many of the others' I've seen and I initially couldn't get mine out to confirm its identify as the check valve. Ultimately I was able to remove it. And it indeed needs to replaces, along with a few other parts. Do you carry a regulator rebuild kit that would work with my Craftsman 919.156520? Preferably with a new knob too?
Hello, it looks like Craftsman has discontinued the regulator for the 919.156520 Compressor. I cannot locate it or a rebuild kit for it. You may want to try a local compressor repair shop in your area.
i have an air compressor at work and everytime i plug the hose to the tanks it pushes moisture is that normal?

Hello, the compressor is a Porter Cable. I am sure that they out source the pump though, of which I do not know the manufacturer.
my compressor compresses air only when i block the suction side of the 2nd cylinder, if i wont do that, it will not produce any compressed air.. any suggestion what happen to my compressor?

+Jv Datz My first guess it to have you look at the Valve Plates under the cylinder heads. Typically if the "Fingers " on the valve plate becomebroken or warped from heat, they won't seal correctly. While you have the head off it's wise to check the piston and ring for wear as well. I'm a little puzzled how the compressor is pumping air while the inlet is plugged. Is It pumping air from a leak in one of the gaskets or a crack

I'm not sure what your question is but I'm going to assume you're asking about the oil. Typically compressor oil is 30 Wt non detergent
what kind of oil
The recommended oil for most compressors is 30W Non Detergent. It is important the oil be Non-Detergent for compressor pumps. Also, some smaller compressors are listed as OF or oil free. Do not use oil on these as it will ruin the pump.

I GOT AMSOIL 30/40 SYNTHETIC NON DETERGENT ON THE AMSOIL WEB SITE,,,COMPRESSOR RUNS COOL AND YOU ONLY CHANGE IT BOUT EVERY 8000 HRS ,,YES 8000 NOT 800,,,,,ITS ROUND 12 BUX A QUART BUT IF YOU WANT TO SAVE YOUR COMPRESSOR ITS VERY CHEAP,,ITS THE BEST OIL IVE SEEN ,,,,,,,

step one;un-plug the finger chopping device set two drain eye blinding air pressure,step three do what this guy did for servicing.
Although helpful in understanding the minimum service requirements for an air compressor, there was no mention of electrical isolation - the unit appeared to still be plugged in to the mains supply. No mention of venting all pressure from the unit (the unit was run up to warm the oil before draining)
Additionally the guard was removed to access the drive belt - with the power still connected?
Before any of the above maintenance is attempted, complete isolation of all energy sources is a must :-)
This compressor is very quiet.
I have water coming out of the oil filler plug..... compressor wont budge..... seems to be frozen..... motor just hums.
