    When I first showed up at my former high school with a camera offering to help out, my old coach was like "we good, we got robot cameras that do that already." They do what they're supposed to, offer 720p "60" (I think they just double 30 frames though), stream to facebook and youtube, and compile player reels afterwards. But they're not exceedingly fun to watch and they do some sports better than others (swimming is unwatchable). They don't look anywhere as nice as the Veo, not even the outdoor ones in sunlight, and they use one motorized camera.
    I'd love to have something like the Veo as a second shooter to cover gaps in what I get manually but the price structure makes it unhelpful for the sort of thing that I'd want it most for, local events where I'm by myself, just trying to help out. For that price I could hire two kids with cell phones, get better footage, and not have to wait for it.

    • @BeyondTheGame_E

      That's exactly how I feel. With the current subscription model, it makes sense for a club but not for a videographer.

    As a career It professional, I can tell you that first level support ANYWHERE, is going to be hit or miss. These roles turn over extremely fast and are often out-sourced. Do your best to be patient. But if you feel like you are not getting anywhere, ask the technician to escalate. Especially if no progress has been made within 3-5 business days.

    What I know from ours, is that the long processes give you the stats, breakdown. Each game break point, Corners, goal kicks, etc. Cause now their analytics is more powerful.
    The processing usually goes pretty fast, I wonder if it was your connection? I can usually upload a game and have it turn around in about 3-4 hours.
    This is more or less just for regular game broadcasting or match highlights. For more individualized highlights you’ll never beat a camera on the field and more knowledgeable cameraman.
    Cool hearing your take on it though E!!

    • @BeyondTheGame_E

      Good point about all the stats and stuff, I didn’t think about that.

  • @stevenqirkle
    @stevenqirkle 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It's a cool product - I can definitely see potential value to coaches, players, and parents. But it definitely would be nice to have better zoom capability for covering a soccer field - it's hard to see what's happening down around the goal. Maybe if you could set up a few of them around the field, or if it had multiple lenses of different lengths that it could seamlessly switch between like on a smart phone.
    The subscription model is kind of a turn off for me. But given the streaming and processing features it supports, and in the context of a sports team where you have a bunch of people paying regular membership dues - the subscription model makes sense I guess.

  • @mark_holden1
    @mark_holden1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Firstly that was the wrong tripod to use for 11 a side football. The viewpoint is wrong which in turn means you miss out on a lot of stuff on the opposite side of the field. It also screws with the analytics when you put it on the wrong side as it struggles to differentiate between players etc.. My suggestion would be to do it again with the 7m tripod and you will see a big difference. Don’t forget that this is gold for coaches to see the overall movement of a team and transitions of play etc. This is not really about videography as such.

    • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mark, yes the higher the camera is, the more you’ll get a bird’s eye view of the game which makes it easier for the computer to identify players but it also means that everyone is further away from the camera so not too great for recruiting videos for examples. And there’s no such thing as the right side of the field. I had that conversation with Veo and there’s absolutely no difference other than what I said about the position of the sun. And finally yes you are right, this is for coaches and not videographers. Which is exactly what I said in my conclusion.

    It's just sad that the Veo needs to put their darn logo in the corner although you spent 1k for it and need to buy a subscription plan to use extras. Also you cannot have overlays yet (maybe in a Veo 3.0). Personally it beats no camera man as the human eye is quicker to catch important scenes

    • @michaellunajr9490
      @michaellunajr9490 ปีที่แล้ว

    What height would you recommend is the best for these cameras like Veo?

    • @BeyondTheGame_E
      @BeyondTheGame_E  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m far from an expert since that was the only time I ever used one. But if you want the video to look good and be pleasant to watch for a casual viewer, you don’t want the camera to be too high because you want to stay relatively close to the action. But if your video is for coaching purposes, you want the camera to be much higher for a birds eye view. That will give you a much better view of the positioning of each player on the pitch.

    The manufacturer of this camera preys on the fact that sports clubs don't have enough staff to take the time to record and edit every match. But I honestly find it ridiculous that for something that can be handled with two sports cameras set up perpendicularly, Veo makes you pay huge money. Monthly.
    I record my team's matches for training purposes and without exaggeration, it takes me about an hour to process one match. I use one drone and sometimes an additional ground camera.
