Merickville Ontario Canada Thank you x100. I used book to support the screens. And used fuel line anti freeze to clean it. The rubbing alcohol wasn't strong enough and couldn't get the actual product. The line stuff was strong enough. Thank you you saved me tons of cash. Owe you a few pints !!!
You saved us lots of money! Thank you so much for this video. We bought my son a 2018 dodge ram 1500 bighorn for his senior year and didn’t realize the radio glitched so bad. It was calling people from his contacts, changing the air control, cutting out the radio station, it was bad. After much searching we came across your video, I told my husband if he could take it apart,I could remove & place the glue back. So we did it, IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. God bless you.
Man!!! You are the man!!! I couldn’t find the clear double sided gorilla glue tape. I used a different one and it didn’t work. It made it worse! I was sweating bullets. Then, I found the right tape, put it in, started it up and everything works perfectly!!! Thank you!!!
exact problem I am having with 2018 Ram1500 Bighorn 4x4; it ALL goes haywire...the clock setting, the radio stations, the fan goes to 7, it switches the climate settings, etc...was just a dealership for inspection and had them check issue...they said "radio screen delaminating" and need new one...they quoted: part 510.60 (which they have to order), labor 190.40, tax 42.06..grand total of 743.06..will try you fix...just have to find those plastic tools to get started....EXCELLENT VIDEO, THANK YOU!
Thank you for this video! I just got done with mine and it works well so far. I went ahead and bought a new digitizer on Amazon just in case I start having the same problem as your second video. Fingers crossed.
Awesome explanation, my dealer and warranty says it's cosmetic because when I brought it to them it stop. My dumb a22 bought the extended warranty hopefully they will cover it.
@@ClaremontClassicGarage Radio for now. I just had to repaint my rear bumper, someone hit me in a parking lot. Had great weather for it. Didn’t wait long enough to lightly wet sand the clear coat. Had to do it over again. Thanks again.
I'm having this same issue right now (clock asking if I want to adjust the time), ordered a new "digitizer" on the jungle website. Hopefully this resolves my issue as well.
amazing job. well done. i have the same issue on my 2018. How is the solution going so far? no need to replace the digitizer yet? solution good over winter/summer?
Got a quote from the dealer for mine $2200 No thank you I'll fix it myself to bad Ram won't step up and take care of it guaranteed every truck will have this problem in time after warranty is up of course
You can buy a set of 4 color matched as a Mopar Accessory. But one by one, they come primer only. And they're not cheap. I tried scrounging around locally as some owners doing up their trucks remove the stock flares to install larger ones but of course I found every color except white.
I did this to my 2018 ram eco diesel three years ago. It started doing the whole ghost screen thing again today. I'm going to see if I can get gorilla tape apart 😂 and fix it again. If it doesn't work, at least I got 3 more years out of it.
@ClaremontClassicGarage Yep, my 09 silverado has 250,000 miles on it, and nothing major has ever gone wrong with it. I wish I still had the 87 Ford my dad gave me to drive when I was 16. It was just an old farm truck that was geared low, but I loved driving it.
@@ClaremontClassicGarage I figured I would come back here and update this. I took the radio out yesterday, and followed your video, no more random restarts, or crashing! 👍

These RAM radios are a joke. My 2011 2500 Cummins Laredo started doing this soon after purchase , I put up with it for a hundred thousand plus miles , then paid $600 to replace the entire unit. It started doing it again within 6 months. One of a few unacceptable cosmetic flaws with an otherwise excellent truck

Well it works so far for my truck. I did substitute the alcohol with Acetone which seemed to work fine as an alternate. Thanks vor the video

i am so disappointed in Chrysler, but not surprised

The radio problem or the smashing into objects in the barn problem?

Did you put tape along the bottom near the ribbon cable.
I'm sorry. I did it so long ago I can't remember
What were those orange flat tools? What brand? I am in Ontario
Cant remember exactly what they're called but I got them at Princess Auto

The more time they spend in the sun the more likely the problem.
Are the flares available colour matched based on the truck's VIN?

Same on my 2018 Laramie. Can i use "goo gone" to get that sticky crap off? Great video BTW!
Not sure if goo gone would work. There's a lot of it in there.

With this delamination will you end up getting a black screen/weird reboots?
Usually it causes ghosting. Which is like somebody randomly pushing buttons.

Has anyone done this and the screen had vertical lines and now the screen is black? Will the screen still work if the digitizer goes bad?

Chrysler has had terrible radios since the 80s.
