Why does the jeep dealership I called today tell me the screen has to be “programmed” to my vehicle when it is replaced? Your video makes it seem like I just put a new screen in and plug it back in and it’ll be good to go?
@@nickhutchison3228 when replacing screen only, no programming need it. Your dealer want to milk you for more money.
@@IGI-MANwhat would you be all replacing if you needed programming? Because I read that you had to replace the entire unit if the screen is delaminating. Is the screen not technically all one tablet basically?
Yeeeeeeee Haw!!!!! I'm a very happy customer! Just finished replacing my 2018 Ram 1500 screen and so happy not to have constant beeping and station changes and ghost phone calls! I've been putting up with this for over a year, and its so great to have it fixed!!! Thanks for the video, took me just a few minutes longer than the video to replace my screen. You can do it! Don't wait, There's lots of videos out there on removing the console, just pay attention to the screws and take your time, you can do it.

This is exactly what I'm going thru with my 2018 Challenger. Been dealing with the beeping and ghost screen presses for almost a year. Been constantly putting it off and even considered taking it to the dealership but I know they'll charge an outrageous price. This looks like something I can do on my own hopefully. Guess the hard part is getting the radio out the console

1/2/24 - I ordered my screen directly from OEM 4 days ago and it came today. I installed it in 1.5 hours and it works like a charm and looks fantastic. Im the most unhandy dude on the earth and I was able to do it. The scariest part was ripping the radio dash off. Remember to use the duct tape on the unit before you remove the screws. That really helped. Very pleased. Saved myself over $1500.

I just completed this exercise my 2018 JL, and these instructions worked perfectly and were as easy to apply as the video illustrates. The only difference was mine was messier, as the original screen had leaked more sticky goo (it even oozed down on the switch assembly beneath the radio). Rubbing alcohol and q-tips did a satisfactory job in removing it.

These guys are awesome!!! Got it installed on a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here are some helpful tips. When disconnecting the ribbon cable, there's a black plastic piece holding it in place and it acts like a door on a hinge. Flip up to unlock the ribbon cable, then when you reinsert the ribbon cable, latch the piece back down on it. Tip #2. Wear gloves! There might be goopy stuff from where the old screen leaked.

I have renegade 2018 sport with 3 1/2” screen. Can it be replaced with 8.4” unit with navigation? The stock one works fine just small. What do I need to make the transition and how much is the cost? I’m not going to tell all what Ford did to me to add navigation. Can’t be done. 14 super duty lariat missing 1 bell!

Why does this method seem much easier than other videos I've watched??? Is it because the unit is held together ?

So, a few days ago my 2018 RAM 1500 Laramie's UCONNECT screen went black. The dealership only would say "a component is bad" and that I needed a new "radio." The radio works fine, the phone and nav system works fine...just the screen is black. Would a screen replacement work or could there be other issues warranting a new "radio?"
Your screen is bad, the head unit should be fine. Had that happened before and new screen fixed the problem
I need to do a screen replacement on my 7" uconnect radio. Do you know if that radio has hte same small wire at the bottom of the bezel?

I have the delaminated screen and erratic behavior in my 2018 Jeep Renegade Touchscreen Uconnect 8.4" 4C NAV. Your unit ends with UAC rather than NAV. Will it be compatible and display all the same features?

Hi i bought my screen in amazon but the touchscreen is not working i followed your steps but might i have to change the digitizer even if its new ?
2 things. One is maybe you didnt set the ribbon cable all the way in, or two, is you bought a cheap Chinese screen and it failed on you right out of the box, I’ve seen that happened to other ppl. You wont be able to change digitizer on that Chinese screen.

Have you tried to reset the unit? By pressing right top corner for 10-15 seconds when you’re in home position
Doesn't work on the Panasonic head units (yeah, I tried multiple times).

Black wire is for the bluetooth antenna, it still will work within the car, if you don’t really care about bluetooth then dont worry about it, if you do then you gotta replace it. We dont sell just a wire.
What does the black wire do? Is it for showing the video? If it breaks how to I go about replacing it
Black wire is basically antenna for bluetooth 2.4 GHZ thats located on your black metal bezel

Can you explain the digitizer part and how to know if both the screen and that should be replaced?
If your screen is delaminating or start bubbling up then its going bad. Or its ghost touching then its also bad
What about an all black cracked screen but it still works I just can’t see anything ?

It’s a split year, You have to verify by removing his old lcd. 17 early used different lcd, late 17 uses our 8.4
Why is there such a big price difference. Others list the same thing for $150?

@molafi3234 its almost impossible. People that tried to change it , end up buying the whole screen, because the sticky stuff leaks inside the screen and damages the layers that inside the screen it self. Thats what you see the glowing part on the inside the screen.
