For those who are curious, I did a bit of poking around, and this was recorded in 1962 , so she was 16 or 17. Her mother, Iris du Pré, is at the piano. A wonderful recording -- passionate yet elegant.
Eladio Hosseinpour it was her first strad before the Davidoff; she owned two. This one is now actually called the “du Pre Stradivarius.” I’m not sure who owns it currently.
the best of all times we can hear even today, indisputably. She imposed herself on of the cello song and however cellist are trying she interpreted the best way...
Listening to this reminds me why I'm so fortunate they refused me the violin all those years ago.... My cello and I,14 years of happiness and still going
haha im the same, class teacher wouldnt let me learn violin because i was too energetic as it was and she hoped cello would "ground" me. not quite 14 years for me however. Performing this piece in a week and abit and im no where near ready
practicly the same. When I was really small, the Violin Teacher liked me too much. Said She couldn't teach me! So she got the celloo teacher to teach me cello instead. lol.
Same here. although 7 years of happiness, all because when I was 6 I didn't want to stand up when I played, which is why I chose cello over the violin. now I finally get to play this piece and I'm so excited!
Just beautiful such talent and so sad she is gone from this world . I can not believe people have given this a thumbs down. Obviously jealous of a great talent
What I like is that I can listen to this piece from Gregor Piatigorsky and then listen to her play it and even though they're slightly different versions, the two cellists interpret the piece very differently and however you look at it, it's fantastic.
I've listened to multiple interpretations of this piece and no one can play it like she did. The way she plays it just feels so natural and organic. And her mother's accompaniment is equally wonderful; she knew exactly what her daughter was going for and helped her execute it perfectly.
Такая хрупкая ,юная девушка,а сколько в ней силы ,мощи ,правды ! Какой взгляд в конце произведения ... Нет ,я не верю что Жаклин Дю Пре умерла . Она всегда будет жить. В сердцах людей .
Her mom was seen here playing the piano. This is one of the mesmerizing duet of both Jacqueline and her mom.I wish I could see more of Jacqueline playing as a 6 year old even way before she turned 12. Are there any earlier version of Jacqueline as a little girl playing her cello, even at a festival?
I love this piece, and when I listen to Jacqueline du Pre play it, it opens up a whole new way of listening to it; it's different when she plays it. So beautiful!
i just randomly thought of the title for this song and was like ????? cause i thought i made it up but holy shit. i cant believe after all these years i still remember 💖💖💖
very good. I like her diverse bowing, in the music they have different bowings, but i like these much better. Nice sound quality, use of bow, her bow/cello angle. Overall a very nice piece. Very good work.
Five out of the six top comments are complaints about dislikes. Seriously? I love it too but there are currently 48 that apparently don't. Let them have their own opinion. Some see the beauty in metal music. I don't. It's the same with this.
I couldn’t sound like this until I was 28 and I started at 11 😅. She is AMAZING. Such musicality and understand of her instrument. Her physical techniques is amazing to see too; Almost like a robot in the flesh.

2:03 Watch at least.25 speed and see how her right hand fingers flex as she plays the chord up top. It’s so musical and wonderful. They blur in the shot because they are flexing back and forth so much there are other times when you can make out her right hand fingers and then other times when they are blurred. Those blurry times are because she is flexing them so fast back and forth to make the music happen.

Did she have her Davidov Stradivarius by then?

RIP Jacqueline du Pre... You will always be loved by cellists all over the world
And ordinary discerning music lovers from eternity, for sure.
😭😭😭😭😭😭R.I.P
Even from non-cellists... We all do love her still just as if she is still alive and vividly playing •

The cello is such a unique and wonderful instrument. I'm glad I play it, too.
This performance is in a class of its own - simply amazing. I think the ghost of Saint Saens smiles every time he hears this played on TH-cam

Simply incredible at that tender age. ‘Gifted’ is hardly the word. How blessed we are to have had her with us.🌹
She does this so well. I've started learning it and how she puts all that emotion is amazing!!!
Amazing. Even though its an old record the sound is amazing and the interpretation of the piece fits incredibly well. Such talent.

Acabei de assistir uma aula de Jacqueline Du Pré... Bravíssimo..!
She has fire in her heart.
Nobody plays this piece as her, she was absolutely above all at least in this allegro APPASSIONATTO.....
Awesome! The great Jaqueline Du Pre playing one of my favorite composers.
This is absolutely perfect, stunning and so good that I can't find words to describe it!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
did she die?
You are literally gasping for breath before the calm before the grand finale. At least that's how I feel every time I listen to this. Such passion!
