From its shiny chrome reflector to its Carrara marble base, Arco’s functional elegance is instantly recognizable. As current and modern today as when it was first introduced in 1962, the Arco is truly timeless.
The "Arco" lamp by Flos, is one of the most well-known Italian design products in the world, and a symbol of the "Italian lamp". It was the same designer, Achille Castiglioni, who said that the idea was to realize a standing lamp which in every way behaved like a hanging lamp, but which by its nature could offer discreet and comfortable lighting. To obtain this result "Arco" was designed, composed of an adjustable reflector in chrome metal, an arch of adjustable length and a beautiful base in Carrara marble.
It's made in Bovezzo, Italy.

The Arco lamp is a transcendental design, in various ways and for various reasons. It's the kind of watershed design that changed the history of modernism, especially in a field that was a bit "neglected" such as floor lamps, since the Mid-Century Modern was attracting attention more than anything in the furniture design. Now, there's no catalog that calls itself MCM in which the famous Italian lamp with its marble foot is not present, or similar models. I have a replica from Barcelona Designs and I really love it. It's quite appealing and functional.

The most beautiful thing about this is seeing how they treat the marble. It's incredible. I got a good replica from Barcelona Designs and it's great even though I wish I had enough money for the original.

I bought the black limited edition one about 28 years ago, it’s very hard to find any info on the black marble other than only 3000 was made for 40 th anniversary which comes with a big black box with a book cd and little booklet inside it’s also signed and numbered, I’ve tried everything trying to find them but had no luck. They show the black one for a split second both no info about it .
