    Many many keyboardists prefer powered speakers to keyboard amps. Mainly because speakers transmit sounds more accurately than keyboard amps which tend to change the sound of acoustic piano and synth sounds. I was going to get a keyboard amp until I saw that the consensus on my favorite online keyboardist forum was for powered speakers. QSC was a popular recommendation and I really love my K10.2 with the Nord's acoustic piano sounds. By the way, QSC has detailed user manuals and application guides on their website.

    Thank you VERY much for this straight-forward and clear tutorial. I don't have the same speaker(s), but the info is the cat's meow for suiting my needs. A thousand bucks may not be but a drop in the bucket for most music folks, but, on my side of town, if somebody values their investment, they want to know what happens with nob "x" gets turned to "a" before....P00F! No Schroeder's here (I don't have a cold-storage full of PA speakers for every time some girl (or me, due to an overabundance of straight up ignorance) smashes it to bits....
    Thanks a ton

    Great video. I have a couple of questions though... How do you connect it if you have a QSC KW181 Subwoofer? Which goes first after the mixer the K12 or the KW181? Thank you in advance!

  • @thomaspick4123
    @thomaspick4123 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well done video. Talk about daisy chaining speakers please. I prefer a number of smaller mains and small woofers. The number can be adjusted per event. The direction of the speakers can be pointed various directions. The subs could be on the ground, elevated, or pointed backward into a corner. The weight in transporting is easier on the setup people. If a box goes down, remove. You still have others working. Not many acts can afford an array of speakers. Address outdoor connections and preventing electrocution. Another singer died recently due to electrocution.

    Will these speakers put out roughly the same volume without using a mixer? Example - IF I just plug only my phone into the back of these PA's with the KSUB hooked up will it sound roughly the same or just as good as if I had a mixer setup for it? I have the 2 K12's on order from Amazon as well as the 1000w KSUB on order and I have a little funtion going on in a couple weekends and I won't have a mixer ready. Just trying to make sure these will still sound amazing without a mixer in the setup.

    • @Andrew-vj7gw
      @Andrew-vj7gw 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this is an old inquiry but an answer may help someone else. They could be louder depending gain adjustment on mixer. In the end though the top limit before clipping/distortion will be the same regardless of gain combination from mixer or speaker pre. The audio signal output from most phones (iphones at least) is 0.45 volts. This is below the "line" level of approximately 1.0 v. running through a mixer allows more gain before reaching speaker.

    If using a subwoofer with a K12, what frequency would you recommend setting the crossover to? I'm thinking 80 Hz but I'm not sure.

    Question: If you run the second speaker from the :post mix: line out is it in stereo or is it matched sound? When would you use thr thru channel out instead of the post mix out? Also, if I am setting up 6 qsc K8s am i best using a mixer and run all from that or can i daisy chain using thr thus or would i use the post mix line out?

    hi. I have some ksc k12 and a sub. I don't have a mixer. what's the best way to hook up a sub to the k12 without a mixer? does it have to be a matching qsc sub? I have a different brand sub

    • @dennisondenatalie1579
      @dennisondenatalie1579 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Colton Griggs Hi. Sorry nobody has replied to your comment. Let me help you. The sub does NOT need to be a QSC sub. First, run directly into your sub with XLR left. Then, use the pre-gain outputs on the sub and then go to your main left and right. Another way would be to run direct into the speaker, then out to the sub.

    • @MRxr400
      @MRxr400 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      wow, no reply for a year. Not very impressive from QSC.
      Dennison's answered your question well.
      One thing I note on this direct method of connecting source to speakers, is they will sound ok, yet not great in most venues. A good graphic in between source and speaker will make a world of difference if you know how to use them. or you may have a graphic on your iPhone etc that will help. Each room has a different inherent sound to it and make any speaker sound bad.

      No. The Soundcraft MFXi is not a powered mixer. Of course, it has to be plugged in an electrical outlet to get it's own power, but you will need a power amp to run speakers from this mixer.
      However in this demonstration the QSC K series speakers are powered so you don't need a power mixer or a power amp.

    Nope.... Not at my house (standard power) and I also have a mixer, a Fender amp, and a laptop connected. Never tripped even once. This is off an outlet in the garage and the garage circuit at my house is by it self.
    My last house had the garage and kitchen on the same circuit. If everything was running and you turned the oven on that may do it, who knows. I didn't have the QSC setup them.
