      I thought you were being serious at first. Then I hit the “read more”, and saw the rest of your comment.
      Interestingly enough, I have two of the K .2 speakers, and both have “blown”. I’m hoping the speakers haven’t really blown, and I’m hoping these expensive computerized speakers have some kind of function that will shut them down before they blow.
      What’s also interesting as I am on their website right now, and I am typing in the area that I live to find where the nearest QSC service center is, and all it does is keeps searching, won’t give me any results. I will contact Sweet Water tomorrow and see if they have any information for me, because I play music full-time for a living and have gigs coming up this weekend, etc.

      At the k10.2 the update is necessary because of overheating problems and at the K8/12.2 it’s just better protection for the amplifier.

    My K10.2 stopped working last night mid gig. Now it's stuck in this 'protect mode 4' I can't do anything it just keeps restarting over and over. I can't hear the test tone at all. but even if I could it just keeps restarting and stays in protect mode. Is there a way to do a hard reset on these things?

    Hello good day, update the k12.2, but at the end it shows me the message: PROTECT MODE 4 POSSIBLE SPEAKER DAMAGED DETECTED. And from there it does not progress even though the test is performed correctly.

      Me too, my k8.2 is now stuck in the protected mode

      I have video showing how bad is those speakers. I'll never ever put my money on k12.2 even for free I don't want it. Customer service doesn't do anything but lying on the phone. No help at all. I'll put the video out soon to show you guys how garbage/trash they are

    This is ridiculous. I have waited for the speakers for three months, and when I finally received them and used them at a gig last week, BOTH speakers reduced to almost inaudible levels of sound twice during the night and I had to go restart them. Once, I was only using the microphone and there wasn’t any music playing (I am a DJ) and it still reduced volume.
    I am searching for a solution because I would love to keep the speakers after all the great things I’ve heard about them, but I am not finding any to this problem. Anyone know what’s up??

      @@hec7111 nope I contacted the QSC service center and they said this is a common problem they’ve been having. They said they could fix it, but the parts are back ordered and since I was within the return window, they recommended that I just returned them instead, so I did. If you can still return them, I would, otherwise contact a QSC service center and they need to change out the amp module.

      Did you get the Protect Mode 4 error? I bought one used and got the error after a few minutes of use. Glad I didn’t gig with it

    Hey QSC- Quick Question!!
    I have the qsc k12.2 units. Im currently working on the qsc firmware updates. I have followed all steps accurately. Here's what I'm experiencing.
    A quick pop up message appears on the display on the speaker unit:
    "Possible speaker damage detected"
    This disappears quickly before you can select "next"
    Then.
    On the computer side I'm getting:
    "NGK update failed"
    However, the speaker appears to be working properly and the update setting model displays the correct updated firmware #.
    Any insight folks?

    I own two k8.2's and two k12.2's. Updated the firmware on the 8.2's but on both of the 12.2's I got at the end of the update the message "PROTECT MODE 4 POSSIBLE SPEAKER DAMAGED DETECTED". This message disappear quickly with no time to click NEXT. Update app says "Update failed". Rebooted speakers and they appear to work OK. What should I do? Thanks in advance.

      I wish I had an answer to that because honestly I just put the updater on a PC and a Mac neither one of the speakers the K8 or the K 12 will connect or show being recognized by the farm where updater I called Qsc the guy I spoke to seem clueless he didn’t even know they had launched a MacBook version April 2 of 2020 so no luck there. It seems like technical support would know them when they launch their update firmware’s for Mac and PC versions

      This update messed up a perfectly good speaker. Fg update, now I can't call until Monday. Pissed off!!!!!!!

      @@uptopboogie8 not to worry. Incase your unit is within warrenty period.. they will replace your amplifier module with a new one.. because firmware update damage is considered as irreversible at some extent.

    Lots of good questions but not one answer from QSC.
    I don't know yet why the speakers need an update or what the update will actually do.
    The "damage to speaker" thing people are seeing doesn't make me want to be in a hurry.
    Does anyone know anything more about it?

      Same question in my head... all the comments here are very bad...
      I have the old k12 and they sound way better than my new ones...
      I think this update was to make them the sound better than the old ones but the comments make me believe that qsc fucked up in the process, i wanted to update them but not no more because if all the bad comments..

      All I can say about the k12.2 don't buy them they not good. I have a case open right now.I purchased 8 of them from them 2 months ago I use them only as stage monitors they keep stopping playing no sound coming out .those speakers killing my company. The module is not good. I'm done with them.

      Well at the time of my post I had already purchased two of them.
      I did not do the update for the simple reason of they were working fine and I didn't want to actually cause problems if the update was not 100% safe.
      Anyway, I've been doing solo gigs where I run a small board for vocals, acoustic guitar, and a piano keyboard. I don't need bass that bumps hard. The most low end I need is from the left hand keys on my piano.
      So far no problems. They sound really clean and other musicians that I know actually bought them when they listened to mine.
      Idk. It could be the luck of the draw.
      Sorry you having all those issues. I know that's super frustrating. I've had problems in the past with other brand new musical equipment too and it sucks.

    Windows Only?? Does QSC not recognize we live in the 21st Century? Really disappointing. I guess my speakers will go un-updated.

    I can't even open the Firmware Updater package on my Mac. I keep getting an alert that says the file is damaged and I should trash it. WTF? QSC...where are you?

    My take on this is the ppl that recently bought k12.2 have a dropping out of sound and speakers going out while playing thinking its the xlr cable or the power line 🤷🏿‍♂️ i had mines for almost 3yrs and dont have that problem knock on wood 🤦🏽‍♂️

      I just had this happen to me last night in the middle of a wedding reception...My speakers are brand new...Is there a defect or something?

      @@MrMaui38 it happened to me too. Sound dies out I powered off for a good minute or 2. The issue continued luckily 1 Speaker kept working fine. Shipped the speaker to "QSC" [Costa Mesa CA] waiting on a technical report. I will share soon 🤜
