It’s a very beautiful, poetic ballad, with lovely almost classical music. Although it’s a love poem, it’s not quite straight up. Ferry’s both confused and in a state of change (thought patterns hazy, everything changes weather blows hot and cold, from alchemy iron turns gold). It’s one of my favourite Manzanera guitar solo’s, again achingly beautiful. The next track is Manzanera’s favourite Roxy guitar work. I think this whole LP is where Manzanera performed at his best for Roxy.
You will notice there is a smoother band emerging with more conventionally structured songs, still an absolutely brilliant track and album. A Song for Europe and Mother of Pearl the two outstanding tracks.
Thanks for getting back to Roxy.
