I think draining the V4s cold after 24 hrs is the way to go...as all the oil is in the sump and not in the top end through out engine. You would get a more accurate amout of oil coming out to measure what to put back in.. The manual says 3.4L for oil n filter change...safe to say to put 3L in then start warm up then top off after 24 hrs.
I like how it doesn't have a typical screw-on oil filter like every other major brand 🙃 Also, get you a torque wrench brah, making me nervous with that drain plug lol
I agree, it’s so annoying that they couldn’t just have a spin-on filter. Why have a torque wrench when I have a calibrated elbow?! 😅 (I do have a couple torque wrenches)
Hey man, great video, thanks for sharing! My Streetfighter V4 SP2 should be here in the next week or two and I'm wondering what frame sliders those are?
Hello friend. Please, after changing the oil, does the OIL SERVICE message disappear automatically or not? Is it necessary to take the motorcycle to a dealership to delete the message? Thank you very much. A big hug. Marcelo
The oil level is not at the max mark in the video, it's almost at the minimum level. Am I seeing this correctly? On my v4s the max is determined by the notches on the side of the view port
You are seeing it correctly, I misspoke. However, this was before I ran the engine and then waited to top it off, so I wasn’t worried. I wouldn’t have left it that low if that was the final reading.
You could have put a piece of paper there to deflect the oil lol. Also, imagine if you could have raised the bike up. This job would have been a loooooooooooooooot easier. Great video btw.
I knew early on that this youtuber would butcher our English language...at about 2 minutes he uses ironically, when the word he was looking for was coincidentally...
How was this a “how not to” you did a good job with it. I understand the “little things”that you learned from but still you did great 👍🏽
Thanks! The “how not to” was mostly a joke because of the mishaps I had along the way. 😅
Great job, great tips and pointers, excellent video sir! No fluff, just facts

Need a how not to check valve clearances on a Duc.

Thanks and congrats! I have Evotech frame sliders, they are quality parts.
Looks like thats 10x harder changing oil with one hand while the other is holding a go-pro😅
It was! I didn’t realize how much more difficult it would be trying to hold the camera 😅

You will need to pay the dealership to turn the light off unfortunately. 😕
@@OneWheelUp17 yup...cost me a half hour of labor for them to turn off the light($70)

Many mistakes were made, but thanks!
I’d suggest that you leave the filler plug IN to help slow the speed of the oil leaving the sump. Less mess.
That’s a good point, I’ll have to see if that helps next time.
Nah, just get a small piece of cardboard or plastic to deflect it.
@@highvaluetarget8162 Yes, add more steps to a simple procedure. 🤦♂️
@@burkeyatm better safe than sorry. Also, mine still hit the exhaust the first time I changed it exactly how you were saying.
Would not take too long to remove that exhaust heat shield and clean up the oil that spilled in.
I stripped one of the bolts for the exhaust shield 😬
So instead I installed an aftermarket exhaust! 😊
Motul works just as fine as Shell?
Just as good, if not a little better!
Hell I use Rotella T6. As long as it meets the requirements its fine. JASO/MA2
can overfilling the oil cause the gears to not be able to shift? its the 2nd time this shit happens to me
Overfilling can definitely cause issues, not sure if shifting is affected though.
exactly how many liters does this bike take?
3.4 but it really just depends on how much comes out.
