Because I don’t think Candleman got it - the words Rebecca is reading at 1:53:48 are the phonetic pronunciations of the names of some prominent demons. Bael, Paimon and Balam.
An interesting theory I saw is that on the purple tape, she's actually being tricked into chanting demon names, which would also explain the "man in the headphones" telling her what to do.

First of all, that orange tape was actually maybe the most realistic dramatically staged home video I’ve ever seen. It was creepy, well-acted even though it was short, the parents slightly talked over each other which made it sound even more normal, they put the camera down at the right moment when things become too real.
Also the lonely kitty twist when everything all came together at once actually really worked for me! I genuinely enjoyed that. I ended up liking this game quite a bit more than I initially thought I would. But I also like the headcannon that this game is essentially a Jumanji of sorts.
The little number robot saying ‘please, I love you’ fuckin hurt me. Companion-cubed me real good…
And despite this game’s mechanics being a bunch of stuff I would normally hate (i.e. too many number quests, no explanation for a lot of things, item puzzles, info dumps of lore, haunted children’s show trope, etc). I found myself getting really invested in not only the game but the story too! Even the scares seriously got me! They were really good!
Overall, very fun, I hope there’s more from this developer!

Hey Librarian. No idea if you'll read this but I had a dream the other night that really reminded me of this "creepy comfy vibe" you've been talking alot about in your videos.
I've been playing the Mass effect trilogy lately and yesterday I put down the game around the final fight of the third part. The reason I'm telling you this is because I think my brain "took inspiration" from that game. So basically I was sitting at home although the apartment was much larger and higher elevated (so in a higher house but not a skyscraper). There was a wide window on one side of the room and it allowed me to look outside at a dark cloudy rainy sky. A large spaceship was floating up there. Somehow I knew (I guess sometimes in dream logic you just know the "lore" of the dream) that these spaceships had shown up all over the world, had not picked up any sprt of contact with humans and had affected the weather to constantly rain, in order to flood the planet and drown our species, which apparently would take around seven days. Now I was alone in my apartment to pack my things because humanities solution was to load everyone onto ships. But just sitting inside a comfy room, no lights other than the dark grey rainy sky and a spaceship emitting a faint yellowish glow and knowint there was a threat to come with the rising water but I knew when it was gonna come and I had time to just lounge and take in the atmosphere, really gave me that creepy comfy feeling you've been talking about so much on this channel.
I apologize that this wall of text had nothing to do with your video but I thought maybe just maybe you'll read this comment and it might be an interesting story of a creepy comfy experience to you.

manly does roleplay sometimes although in a much more lighthearted way
they do remind me of each other in how they both look at this in terms of the meta of horror game design, yet in different styles
manly is quick-paced and more about giving exposure to lesser-known indie horror games and showing all the content they have to offer, letting it speak for itself
while librarian is slower-paced and more about taking the time to critically analyze and pick apart the game, focusing in on the details of what makes it work
I rarely watch Manly because I hate to be jumpscared by his thumbnails in the night, lol
Librarian thumbnails are so much subtle (I can still see the creatures) but Manly just slaps it on the front cover

The piano puzzle was actually very easy. The letters were bolded on the the signs in the video but I don't think you noticed that. You kinda just brute forced it.

And so was the second one. Like, I noticed the music notes and was like "bruh it's obvious" and he did not acknowledge it at ALL.
So I have a theory about this game (I'll space down as to avoid spoilers):
Before Rebecca was adopted by Sam, she underwent some traumatic event that left her with a supernatural/paranatural ability involving her voice. Hameln took notice of it and decided to exploit it for their own ends. (Hameln is the town that was visited by the Pied Piper, who first lured their rats away to drown them and then did the same with their children when the mayor refused to pay him.) But something went wrong, and Amanda went from an ordinary animated character to a monster with the ability to see and act through the television screen, which is why her true form is a many-eyed monstrosity. Sam's disappearance was probably engineered by Hameln, and he may in fact have become Wooly, as the first person to be abducted by Amanda.
Rebecca isn't evil; Amanda is. And when Amanda expresses sadness or regret, it may be some echo of Rebecca showing through.
The way I see it, Rebecca was just an ordinary girl but whatever process Hamelin used to re-create her as Amanda in the cartoon... either killed her, or took her soul, or did *something* that stranded her inside the cartoon but as something else. Like, towards the end with the part about sharing she almost hesitates when she says her name, and she says shes 'still out there' while also saying she can feel herself rotting, but that its 'far away'. In the security footage it looks like they get her to sign a contract too, maybe it was less legally binding and more soul binding?
I agree that Wooly could be Sam. It explains his disappearance, it explains why he knows so much more about whats going on than he should, and why he can still interact with the world around him while all the rest of the characters are just that- characters. It even explains why he tries so hard to keep the show on-track and family friendly. Sam's just trying to maintain the image of the show he created originally as best as he can. Hell, I think the rest of the characters could even be the missing children. I dont even just mean in the show, like maybe the doll is Lauren or some other missing child? idk.
A lot of food for theory crafting in this one, though, thats for sure.

There's traditonally three animals associated with the rotten:
Rats
Flies
Maggots
And Baal title was The Lord of The Flies
Coincidentally, its also a title of another book about Children degradation in the absence of parental figure.
And in the story, i think they have dismembered pig head somewhere.
And since the story will be updated who knows if Maggots and Flies will appear in the story as well.
Also, try looking into the three demons and their connection to weather, Baal at least is consitent with storms ( one of the weather in the puzzle weather) and also associated with agriculture (just how many times we watered a plan in this damn game) i dont know if Flooding and Tornado is associated with Balam and Paimon.
Also since the game is puzzle-based, Balam is the demons traditonally associated with puzzle and revealing secrets, hidden truth, and logics, past and future, exactly what we are doing.
And about Wooly being Balam, it also made sense, Balam is often associated with a Ram (a sheep) and also Baa Lamb (that's punny and also obvious) and Wooly is the only character that tried to "snitch" to us about the true nature of the VHS.
You know I kinda get a Don't Hug Me I'm Scared vibe from this. It starts out pretty innocent but just gets darker the further it goes.

I love your videos, they are much more relaxing and laid back then most other people who do horror playthroughs, like you actually take the time to read stuff out and theorize about what's going on.

Loving the video! But on a separate note *Spoilers*
I feel like the SpOoKy monster kinda detracts from the story. To me it feels like it didn't really need to be there, even if the developers wanted an ending where the tape kills you, I think there's more thematically fitting ways for it to happen than the monster. It just feels really out of place with everything else in the story till that point, and it's more like the developers felt they needed a monster. Not that I'm going to discount the entire game for that though! I was enjoying everything up till that point and there's still well over an hour left in the video, just some thoughts for the algorithm. =)
I found the way the demon monster enters and is handled is the main problem.
I wish we got to explore the house a bit more instead of being confined to the attic.
May be have small haunting that happen over time that gets worse and even more distorted the more you progress and piece things together

Obviously the kid went through the tv but now that I think about it... Amanda could of been trying to cause friction and distrust between parents as well because she opened that family's front door after taking the kid through the TV for a reason. 👀

It's interesting to see your take on this. If I'm right going off your first question(at least I think it was the first one) of when this takes place I think the tapes take place in the 90s/early 2000s while the game it's self is modern day. Also I don't exactly think Amanda is the monster though I think she is connected or possessed by it with Wooly trying to keep her from getting upset as he knows what happens if the thing wakes up if she's too upset. Speaking of I think there was an ending for just trying to answer everything wrong(up until she forces the right thing out of you) & one for if you say no instead of yes on the video that involves Amanda all alone while asking if she can tell you a secret.
While the game is interesting it can be really annoying as you pointed out doing stuff. While it's understandable that some stuff needs to be figured out on it's own there's other stuff that could use some more/better hints. I kind of wonder what will happen next if we ever get more from this game or a sequel? There's still some mysteries like who is Wooly(since Rebecca is Amanda slowly losing herself), what was this Pied Pipper company trying to accomplish & were they behind Sam's disappearance? What's with the company that's based off the pied pipper anyway? I feel like the guy from the "The end?" ending might be a detective or someone that was helping Kate before her death so maybe the player character might get some answers yet.

I fell asleep halfway through watching this, and it gave me the absolute most horrifying dream I’d ever experienced, version of it played in my mind as I dreamt and the sound was played through my ears, a sort of giga nightmare.

I honestly love the story in this, the seeming implication that Rebecca is trapped in the video as "Amanda", forced to try to fulfill the goals of the episode, knowing something is wrong, slowly going insane and being twisted, as some small parts of her come through, all the while some demon has taken her body. I’ve been avoiding videos about this game, simply because it looked like another low-quality mascot horror cobbled together with tape and gum. When I saw The Librarian Himself had uploaded a video on the game… I figured I should take a look.

I think the original game was made in like 24 hours for like a game jam, but feel like the puzzles were a bit easy to see (maybe that's just because I was watching someone else play the game compared to playing it myself and "tunnel vision" is a thing so maybe it would have been different.) I also feel like it should of use the original game more as a base and built off that because If I remember correctly, there were a few secrets in that game that nobody ever solved. It would have also added more length into the "normal route" which I wish had a few more things like a "good path" where you answer everything correctly, a "neutral path" you you do a mix and a "bad path" where you give all the wrong answers then the secret endings. I also feel like you had a point with the "time loop" thing were instead of having the room save, it should have been reset every time to make it more "you can't solve the mystery on your first playthrough" kind of way.
