The nurse deserves an award. Her realizing what was going on could've saved this kids life.

I had sepsis in 2013, on a ventilator for 33 days. Blood clot to my large intestine cause gangrene. Every system failed. Heart failure, right lung collapsed, Renal failure. I had emergency surgery to remove all but 18 inches of large intestine, colostomy. Had seizure and stroke affected right side and my speech.
I was not expected to survive, but with prayers and God I did. I had renal dialysis. Comprehensive rehabilitation. I learned how to walk and talk again. I had home health RN, PT, and ST. 8 months later I had the colostomy reversed. My kidneys are at 50%. I am a million dollar miracle. I had a team of very specialize doctors who took Care of me. Some I had worked with for years as and RN and my primary doctor who I had worked on the floor with and he had been my doctor for 20 years.
Thank God for allowing people to have the intelligence to become doctors and specialize in certain fields.

You are definitely correct! Any nurse wouldn’t of discovered that. The nurse probably would’ve said go back to class and maybe told the mother to put cream on it or told the child to put some kind of anti-itch cream on it. I hope the child is OK; it sounds like he will be. I hate hearing stories of kids who don’t make it. So sad

My son almost died because his school didn't respond to his signs
They knew he had medical problems" and that he was
    born premature he has IDD...
It was in his school record...
    He has immune chronic disease!
    And asthma....
he had spent the weekend with
His father he took him to school...
I wasnt told he wasn't feeling well..
The school never called me at work"
Nor did his father tell me he had complained of feeling sick"
Untell I picked him up after school
I was so upset I could see from his walking and his face something was terrible wrong! He told me he couldn't focus in class
I felt his head he had a Fever" he told me mom im dizzy" I immediately
Rushed him to the hospital he was sent to the children's hospital
    In Sanfransico California..
School officials and uncaring unqualified n/a should not be
    In our school's.....

Just a little over 2 weeks we loss my brother in law to it. He had food poisoning. No one knew he had a serious liver problem. While being treated his systems were shutting down from the poisoning. Then he was turning around when I contracted sepsis and that was it. It was just his time I guess.
My mom had sepsis as well as my sister 2 yrs later. On the tail now him. Makes me wonder doctors ability to spot it. But great presentation. Informative and educated me more.

It can be hard to diagnose because there is no “test”. A lactic acid level is only one clue. Otherwise there’s nothing definitive. There isn’t always a definitive outside source of infection like a wound.

I sometimes fainted even after the iron infusion for 3 hours, but I felt okay, but then I fainted again after walking and then laid down on the floor while fainting, so the doctors and nurses helped me to get up and sit on the wheelchair and do the iron infusion for 30 minutes. Even though I fainted after the iron infusion, I still had a great and wonderful time with my mom and the doctors and nurses!!

This actress aka school nurse is way to happy and smiling for something that would make 98%of nurses panic and worrying.. increased pulse rate.. nurses would say pt. Is tachy, fever/elevated temp and hypotension with increased resp of 30 breaths per min etc

    • @clairem730
      @clairem730 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

According to the credits the actress is also a nurse. Personally I found her portrayal believable - often people can appear very composed under stress when they have a job to do, and especially when they are trying to help a patient remain calm. I thought the whole video was incredibly valuable.

My 10 year old daughter developed sepsis the day after she had her tonsils and adenoids out October 6, 2023 she was 9. Brought her to my rural MN small town ER and they did abdomen X-rays for no reason and sent us home and by the grace of God I knew she was severely ill so drove nearly an hour away to a big bigger towns hospital and they almost sent us home as well but her health declined so quick right beforehand and ended up needing to be transported via ambulance to a bigger city’s hospital pediatric intensive care unit for a week and two days after getting home from that, she had her incisions in her throat hemorrhaging so sent back to that big hospital PICU for several more days. When we got home from the 2nd hospitalization we came home to dozens of handmade cards in my mailbox from all of her 4th grade classmates. It was absolutely heartwarming. I was afraid I was going to lose her.

My school nurse when I was 12,in 7th grade, nearly killed me. She didn't believe I was sick, told my mother I was making it up. 4 days later I was at the dr who said the same thing. 2 days after that I was in the er,who sent me home. Next day I saw a dr who within 2 mins sent me to ge admitted to the hospital and 12 hours later I was being opened up for a full hysterectomy..at age TWELVE! 3 more hours and id have died.
