So good! I had a hip sepsis after pain shots that were given in the groin area! I had none of the symptoms you have listed! My left leg had excruciating pain, no redness no swelling... just the terrible pain! 5 days after the pain shots I took a nap in the afternoon and when I awoke I could not move my left leg and could not get out of bed! Long story short my daughter was called and she in turn called 911! Was taken to a major hospital, evaluated and they said they could not find anything wrong with me so they were going to discharge me! My daughter reached out and barely touched my leg and I screamed in pain! The ones doing the evaluation ran out and soon a figure in black scrubs appeared and said to me, “OK we are going to start over...I think you have an infection!” Afterwards things moved fast. Was taken for aspiration! to identify the bacteria and was rushed into surgery! ( did a debriding I think that’s what it is called) My left leg hurts terribly still although the surgical scar is near my hip! The Trauma surgeon placed antibiotics in the wound and left it open until the bacteria was identified. Then was on a vacuum pump and specific antibiotics for several days via IV, then went home with a PICC line and received a couple of weeks of antibiotics at my daughter’s home through PICC line. I am so interested in these videos because I had none of the symptoms you describe! Just terrible terrible pain! I thought I was going to die; the Trauma Surgeon said, “You could well have; you almost waited too late! I hope someone will respond as my situation was not typical!!

Why isn't there a routine test for sepsis, one has to wonder! It's odd stuff, considering how many people's lives are snuffed out or altered forever by this scourge; surely a routine test/blood culture will remove human error in diagnosis?

I had an experience here in Brazil where people at front line doesn’t know how to identify sepse even that patient had contracted infection inside hospital because poor higiene….. a deadly catch 22 where health care workers are the death hands instead of saving people.
While walking my dog one morning I tripped on some broken sidewalk and fell on my hands and knees. The only wounds were some pin sized ones on both heels of my hands and my knees hurt. However as the day progressed my knees started hurting more than I thought they should so I went to the InstaCare at the hospital. They took x-rays and found no broken bones so the doctor sent me home. Two days later I was back again with more pain. Again x-rays found nothing and exam found nothing. Sent home. The next day I went back again because the pain was even worse and the doctor came out and sent me to the ER. The ER checked me out sent me home with a prescription for antibiotics. The next day I was back again, now with a fever. My left leg was so hot that the nurses soaked towels in a bowl of ice water and laid them on the leg, which felt great but when they took the towels off they commented on how hot the towels had gotten. I was finally checked into the hospital. If my leg touched anything it felt like broken glass being ground into a wound. I hadn't been sleeping because of the pain so they gave me morphine, which let me nap for 20 minutes and did nothing else. Motrin helped the most. The nurse said they were pumping twice the normal amount of IV solution to help flush the bacteria out of my system. They came by several times day and night to check my blood. I only found out after i'd gotten home 5 days later and so bored I read my release papers that I'd had cellulitis and something called Sepsis. I didn't know what that was so I looked it up and was in for a big surprise. Totalling up the percentages I found I was really lucky to leave the hospital in a wheelchair and not a body bag. I could have lost my leg, it did turn black at one point but it turned out to be from blood pooling when they PT had me get out of bed and walking a few yards and then sitting in a chair for a few minutes. As soon as I got back into bed the normal coloring slowly came back. I was in the worst pain of my life for almost 2 months. Every time I had to get out of bed the pain was so bad I screamed uncontrollably. Over the 4 years since my health has declined and I wonder if it's from that sepsis?
I remember, i have a treatment for a pre cancer. 3 days later , i was in ER because .... pain. I was seen in the first 10 min. I had an infection and my junior doctor put me in septis alert. He save my life

I was sent to the hospital last August because I had gone into sepsis from a really bad UTI. I live in a nursing home and they called an ambulance and sent me to the hospital. When I got to the hospital they called my husband and because I was so sick the doctor allowed him to put on a gown and mask and come back to see me. I don't remember any of this, but the doctor told my husband that they were admitting me to the ICU because I had sepsis and if they didn't treat it right away it could be fatal due to the fact that my immune system was so compromised! They allowed him to go upstairs with me but not to stay because they had to do a lot of things to me right away to help me get better!
A little over two years ago, I almost died from septic shock as a result of toxic mega colon. The day it happened I knew something was wrong so my mom took me to one of those urgent care clinics and when the doctor on duty couldn’t get a blood pressure reading he insisted on sending me to the emergency room immediately!
Just got out the hospital with this! EMS transferred me to a larger hospital to intensive care unit ! The doctor comes walking in asking ME WHY I was transferred to the ICU and not a regular room !!!! I'm in septic shock with a blood pressure that had got low as 65\32! But he wanted to know why the "idiot" from the small hospital sent me there !🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

I hope your Dad is better now? I had double pneumonia and sepsis. On life support with an induced coma (I'm guessing it was induced.) My kidneys and liver were shutting down. Sometime throughout this, I had an out of body, near death experience. It was a hellish one. Scary to boot. If I really didn't believe in the devil, I sure do now! Heck, I was even hallucinating and can remember coming out of the hallucinogenic episode! Strange feeling for sure. Anyway, I was in the hospital for 2.5-3 weeks. I was put on dialysis while in the hospital and had to continue when I got out. Luckily my creatinine and bunn levels got back to normal and I was released from having to do any dialysis! So, I'm lucky to be alive! This experience was a twofold kinda loss as my twin brother passed away in March. Two months before our fifty first birthday. So, I was very lucky and glad we got to spend fifty years together. He passed in 2021 and I still struggle with the loss of my twin. I have to remind myself to try and be happy. For his sake.😊 Please wish your father well from me! Take care -Jody
I’m in hospital and have been in surgery this morning and lost all of my toes on right foot die to sepsis. Infection started in my heel. I had temperature, redness spreading and felt so poorly. I went ambulanced after waiting 4 hours for it and then stuck into a cubicle and left for 5 hours. In that space of time my foot and toes were black. No one even LOOKED at my foot for 4.5 hours. So them I’m rushed over to a vascular team at Southampton and into surgery to save my life. I’m now resting and dressing tomorrow when I have sounds checks and vac machine attached etc road to recovery in long xx.

I am a Nurse and it would be unprofessional for me to diagnose as that is the job of your health care provider and without seeing you, assessing your vital signs, and knowing your history it, is unsafe to offer an opinion. however, I can give you advice from someone who has read your message and is feeling worried about your health. It can be scary, can't it. As a nurse or a Doctor, it is essential that we not only do the necessary tests on a patient, but we must also educate and ensure that the patient is aware of what is being done, ask for your consent to do these things and give an explanation of the findings and outcomes. Remember that it is your right as a health consumer to understand what is going on in your health and be given tools in order for you to be in control of your health and wellbeing. If you are ever unsure ask the nurse or doctor to explain things you may not understand ok. f you are ever in doubt or anxious about your current health, go and see your current health provider. I am sorry no one has responded to you sooner.. Never be afraid to ask questions if you do not understand, no question is a silly question ok. if you are feeling unwell and worried go and ee your health provider
