The funniest part is when she said they thought she rode her horse into her teepee. Of course the horse would have its own. The life of a nomad's horse would suck being left out in the cold.

I love your accent. People used to make fun of me when we first moved off the rez but growing up urban has weakened the accent so now most people assume I'm hispanic. My husband says it always comes back when I'm around family or when I'm back on the rez 😆 I listen to your stories when I miss the rez. Your accent and sense of humor are comforting to me.

When my husband took a position on his first nation he was invited to talk to nearby town elementary children who were not indigenous. The questions the children were asking were funny but also spoke a lot about their confusion or misinformation they were taught. One that still has me laughing was the question about the homemade tripods for engine removal that children saw in several yards on the rez. Apparently they thought they were the poles for our summer teepees and that was where we had our ceremonies. I guess someone tried to teach them about how different tribes had different ceremonies through out the year and in the children's minds every house had a "summer teepee" for the ceremonies. The other one was more personal. My husband was a competitive athlete for many years so he was very muscular. He spoke about the various indigenous games youth and adults compete in. The one little girl was just fascinated with his "gorilla arms" and wanted to know if all native athletes get them from archery (bow and arrows) something my husband never competed in. lol

Girl I noticed a lot of these urban natives are confused about who they are and where they come from. I moved off the rez when I was 18. I'm thankful I grew up on the rez and experience that way of life. My husband and I try to visit the rez with our kids when we can and teach them about our tribe/culture. My rez accent comes out everytime I'm around my family or reach the rez lol. I taught my daughter how to say her clans when she was 2.5years old.

Me too!! I want my kids to always know the rez is our home and that’s where our roots are. I try to teach them Cree and about our culture as much as I can too. Raising lil urban natives but my oldest son has a rez accent too so I know I’m doing something right😝

@@creegirltanisha Yes! Definitely! It's good to teach them young because they pick up things fast and will remember it forever. I try to teach my daughter navajo words. She also learned how to sing twinkle little star in navajo It's the cutest thing.

I'm a Metis out on the rez. The white boy lol and I get the accent bad when I'm with the family. I like to mess with the people in town all the time. The city natives are like afraid of me cause I'm from the rez. Shits funny.
