How To Install Mercedes Benz Front Illuminated Star Emblem For CLA 250 (Lights Up When Unlocked)

- Just a quick guide on how to install your light up star on your Mercedes. In this case we are working on a 2014 CLA 250. In this video I show how to wire it up so that when you unlock your car it will light up with the running lights. I hope this helps.

What size gauge is the red quick splice clamp for the wire to tap in with the wiring for the DRL/low beams?
If I connect to the emblem to the day light does it still stay on when the night lights turn on?
Yes. Yellow wire is low beam
White wire is high beam.

Thanks for the video bro , I tried to tap in to the thick yellow one and my star still didn’t come on , same with the running daylights . Any solution? I used T-Taps
The first thing I would check is your T-Tap connection, it’s likely something might not be making proper contact. Make sure your ground is grounded properly. Also make sure your tap broke through the wires insulation and is making contact.

Yes it will turn on at night as well, the running lights are on with the headlights as well

Yes it does, if you only want it on at night you would just wire it to the normal low beam light.

@@angellopez0101 perfect, thank you. I'm having a really hard time finding one for a 2017 GLA 250. Do you know if any of the other models are interchangeable and not yet verified fitment? I'm curious because if you look at non-led listings, 2015 gl350 emblems are compatible with the 2017 gla 250 emblems. As soon as you shop for a LED version there's so much fewer versions of listed compatibility. Doesn't make sense to me

Where do you get the clips from tho
I had them laying around from a remote start kit, you can buy the taps on Amazon or Walmart but you don’t need them you could just strip some of the insolation to make good contact and use electrical tape

You can buy stickers for the silver diamonds. I have it like this and they are strong glue. they do the work

Get a firm grip on the star and simply turn it to the left it will pop right out.
Where did you get the blue piece to connect to the lights
Had it laying around. You can get them at auto parts stores or Walmart or amazon. Many places have them. They’re called wire T-Taps.

@@thestarsbarber0813 Nope, it did not affect anything. In this case it was connected to the running lights power cable, so it is not affecting the low beam lights in any way. Even if it were wired to the low beams it shouldn’t cause any problem.

Hahah 🤣 I was about to write the same thing. Like Mercedes Benz themselves have this feature on certain models from factory. LOL
Wow. The most important part is showing how to tap in. Nobody shows you how, only the end result. Have no idea how to do it after seeing 3 videos.
Very simple, look up wire tappers on google. All you do is close the tapper over the wire tightly until it snaps in. Then you use the other part that connects to the tapper by inserting the bare red wire into it and crimping. And all you do is plug it in.
Also you can look up how to use a wire tapper on TH-cam, it’s expected that you have the knowledge to know how to work with things on your own or learn in order to proceed with this installation. I hope I could help.

The CLA are the worst benz to get they always break down.
They have little to no powertrain issues from what I've seen so wanna elaborate Mr expert
As someone who drives a CLA and has read a LOT about them before buying one I can tell you - that's the biggest Bullshit I have ever heard
