I’m in my early 60s and have been alone more than half my life more or less. No kids but I have a full house and big property full of rescued cats. I moved away from Canada and moved to another country, no English, no friends except rescued cats. It’s good, been painting and hosting little paint parties and loving my fur babies! No stress, just calm, peace and feeling grace with all I have!

I just now, not even 5 seconds ago, had the thought of, I actually don’t have any friends to hang out with regularly and I’m almost in love with that because I love spending time with myself and doing my own things so much - and then I opened up TH-cam and this was the first recommended video. When i was tiny my siblings much older and my mother put me under the tree in our back yard...dolls tea set and pets became my friends my imagination took over..my whole life never fit in...yes blamed myself then i knew i loved peace..and yes im different but i love me ..hopefully i will find my tribe one day so till then my art reading and pets..xxx

I have a boyfriend and we're both kind of hermits. We're not afraid to say when we need alone time and even when we're together, we don't fill the sweet silence with pointless chatter. We both live on sailboats, so we can literally float away from society. I'm 40 and I don't have a lot of friends and I'm totally fine with that.
Oh my gosh, now I want to live on a sailboat ?? That sounds absolutely cozy. Also, totally relate to the 'sweet silence' - on my first date with my (now) husband, we sat in comfortable silence for a lot of the time. I think that was our first clue that we were compatible. 🤭🖤

This is what I’m going through! Thank you for sharing! Now I know I’m not alone. I have found that the more healing that I do, I have found that people have fallen away. I can’t be around toxic people anymore it bothers my mental health.

You crack me up! I love being a siren. You are the best of the sirens, and we love you just the way you are. (P.S. I think you couldn't finish the painting because the sirens didn't want you to reveal their home! 😉)

I started typing and deleted things a bunch of times.
I guess all I can really bring myself to say is this resonates with me greatly. I found myself on a very peculiar "spiritual" journey that ended up enlightening me to the fact that I everyone telling me I ABSOLUTELY need human-based relationships was incorrect for me specifically. Over the last 2 years I have found more peace in having relationships with "unusual" sources: Gaia, Reality, rocks, animals, plants, the inner child in me and I'm not ashamed to say a handful of non-physical entities.
The best part of my life has been accepting that it's okay if people think I'm more weird for choosing to be alone than literally doing what amounts to Bush-magick.
Oh, I love that! 🖤🥺 Totally makes sense though, when we start to see the world around us as living things. Why not have relationships with them like we do other humans 🖤
Loved this!! I totally agree with you. Yes, humans need community but I think may of us are perfectly happy with our partner, cats, plants and mystical spirits and a few friends. We don't need to be constantly surrounded by humans even if some people seem to thrive on that. Everyone is different!!
I am the same way. I have friends I've known forever but we are all aware that we can be friends at a distance. I can get overwhelmed very easily with too much socializing. And I felt bad about being such a recluse for a long time. Not anymore. I enjoy my alone time to do the things that make me happy. PLEASE tell me where you got your lovely dress!!! ❤

I love solitude and peace, as an empath I need to be away from people. I paint and love my fur babies who never judge. We are all different, we all need different things.

My thoughts are busy with creative endeavors, curiosities and learning new things. I do miss carnal physical intimacy but not wanting relationship to complicate things. First of all, this is the first video I have ever seen from you, it randomly got recommended to me by my algorithm and wow, my jaw literally dropped once I saw you. You are absolutely stunning and insanely beautiful. The pure definition of divine feminine energy and beauty! I hope this doesn’t sound cheesy but I truly mean it! And the immense calmness and peacefulness you radiate makes it so addictive to listen to you. And the artful and cinematic way of filming this video and portraying the feeling of being at peace with not having friends??? Glorious. This inspired me so much to let go of any societal expectations and just live my life the way I enjoy it: mostly in solitude with nature and my deity by my side. Love everything about this video 💗

Sad thing is, I’m an introvert by nature, but I *am* genuinely lonely because all of my friends seem to have become more like acquaintances. I only see them if I message them first, and meet on their terms (their time table, their location, their plans). I used to see friends daily because of school and college, then every few weeks, and now I’m lucky if I see friends 1 or 2 times a year. And it’s hard for an introvert to find people who are willing to let you into their social circle; everyone seems set in their friendships with no room for more. I’m trying to find ways to meet more folks and make friends, but it’s a slow, lonely process.
For the first time in my life I am not looking for friends anymore, 'happiness searching' or something like that you call it... i have healed myself enough to no longer need it. I do have connections that are intimate and that I value. But I am just not very sociable. Don't like to go out. Thank you for reflecting beautifully on this topic! I love your resolve to create a smaller table to reflect your actual life. Good call. Such a metaphor - choose what works and reflects your own needs and comfort. And yes to putting the unfinished paintings in the closet to percolate for a while! Moving paint around is as important as any finished product! Solitary home pursuits are golden.
“Not having many friends” can be such a loaded phrase. I trust people who have fewer, and more genuine friendships over people who are addicted to crowds. I’ve known people who gather many friends for “sourcing” their own cheerleading & compliments, also people who need to belong to a group to have the sense that they belong, and can be SEEN belonging to the group, which can be self-promoting.
Finding relevance, purpose, self-acceptance from others can be a real dead end. The one I see in the mirror every day is the only person who can really affirm my own belonging. Having a few truly authentic, kind, interesting friends has been pure gift in my life. I hope to be that caliber of friend, too. I am not lonely because I choose a few particular friends, as opposed to many “acquaintance” friends - and I enjoy spending time alone because of its incredible restorative effect on my whole being. I don’t choose to pour out my precious energy on small talk, or mis-use of my time, which exhausts me! I prefer having the energy to pursue what matters to me. (Not perfectly, for sure…we all have to live in this world we have been born into.) I have become very discerning about the people I choose to invite into my life - my life is calmer, and even happier as a result. I salute your worth and presence! And I really enjoyed your video. Being an introvert can be a superpower.🎉

This is how I feel. I dont have friends and i really don't want them any more. I like spending time by myself. I'm not enamoured by the people I've met in my life so far. I'm fed up with being told I need more people in my life. It's much better to have none over a poor calibre of them. Also I'm a weirdo and other people are too normal for my liking

I guess this is the feeling I get when I’m invited to social occasions….i immediately think “oh, I wonder how I’ll get out of it.”

Same, I don't really have friends either....you can't be friends with just anyone, for me it has to be a kindred spirit, I need a soul connection and as an introvert finding that is a very rare thing indeed. I'm more 'alone' then actually 'lonely' and 99% of the time it doesn't bother me and often when I've been with people I'm always really happy to be home. I sometimes think that I've kind of forgotten actually how to have friends or forgotten how to be a friend, I don't know, sometimes I feel more sociable and I can speak to people and laugh and joke etc but ultimately I find myself thinking about going home to my kitties, watering my flowers and getting all cosy in my pj's 😆 I sometimes think having just one (maybe 2 at a push, lol) close friends would be nice, an individual whom you have much in common with, who gets you totally and understands your introversion.
I love sirens btw, I once wrote a poem that got published about them 😊

One of my favorite things to do is to dress up, go to a pretty natural place or set up one inside (moving aside my clutter 😆) and take MANY Selfies. I almost always get a few gems that look really good! I am 50 and just took up this "hobby" the past year. Having the time of my life avoiding housework / the boredom of being stuck at 🏡. Made for MORE. Made for Magic!!

I like being alone. I get to listen to the music I like, when I like. I paint or wallpaper the rooms in colours I like. Sometimes I would like a warm body in m bed but that quickly goes because I can't sleep in a room with someone else. I have my walls of books, music, art, sewing,cats, chickens, rabbit and an ancient horse. I do have a friend and I like meeting people. I call myself a sociable introvert.
Your cat had "demon girt" look in it's eyes when it saw the vase of flowers. I was just waitng how long it would be before you moved it! Haha.
"Sociable introvert" is a perfect term. Feels like a good fit more me, too 🖤 And absolutely - I thought I'd at least be able to leave the flowers for a couple shots of 'final footage' for the video, but Mimm thought otherwise. 🤭 🐈⬛
Lovely video as always! You have such a soothing presence, even through the screen. I've been struggling with feelings of isolation since the pandemic. I work nights, and have always been a bit of a strange one, so my circle of friends has always been small, but cherished. During and after the pandemic it has just been so much harder to make connections and keep them up. Sometimes it's really good to have that reminder that our circle doesn't have to be large, and there's nothing wrong with you if you like it that way.
Those waterfall paintings are beautiful, but I SO understand having to set a project aside because it's just not coming out the way we envisioned it. Sometimes fresh eyes on it weeks/months/years later will bring the aha moment we need to finish it off the way we wanted it, other times it was a process of learning what to do differently next time, and that's so ok! (I've had to teach myself that over the years, being ok with it. Sometimes I do better than others! xD)
I loved that you were talking about sirens while painting a waterfall. My wife and I write together, and there's a story we're working on with a character that's kind of our take on an undine, with a splash of siren in there. There's an important scene in the book that happens at a waterfall just like the first one you were working on and it SO strongly has the feel of that scene to me, I got all excited. :)

The older we get the less true friends we have. We just seem to choose quality over quantity, less games, less drama more supportive, meaningful & honest friendships. The problem lays when they live _really_ far away. But, you learn to make it work because, they *are* worth it in everyway.
Now, when you live all alone, work from home & rarely socially interact with people... you WILL start talking to yourself outloud. It starts with your plants than, continues with the bugs & the ricks all around you in the garden. You'll need 2 full weeks surrounded with people, talking & socializing to get your metre topped up & back to "saine levels" where you'll finally stop talking outloud, _all_ the time, to no one in particular, just the ghosts & the trolls under your house. 😂😂😂❤

Samantha you are so lovely, and your art and stories are mesmerizing. I think that most us creatives on this planet spend so much time alone and have few if any close friends. I’m what is called an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) and remember being a very small child and feeling most at home in the forest behind our house with the faeries. I’m now in my 70’s and recently thought a lot about not having any friends. Mine have either passed or live more than a days drive away. I’m married, so I don’t ever feel lonely but do treasure my time alone to paint, play piano, guitar and write songs. I love sharing my creations here on YT because it gives me a reason to keep on creating and not feel irrelevant. Keep creating and know you are not alone. 💖🧑🏻🎨🎶

The last time I went camping where I have gone camping many many times with my grandkids, I had an unusual experience.

This is my first time coming across your channel. It is lovely, and the sentiment is very relatable. Your artwork as well as storytelling is beautiful. Everything gives me a feeling of gentle whimsical calming in my soul. Thank you! I'm glad I came across this today. Also my plans for having dinner parties or tea parties with game nights to follow have not been fulfilled since we got our house. Although I am a little sad about it, I also really haven't met many others on a similar path. The storytelling of the sirens really brought out something from my heart. The idea of friendship where I can go to the edge of the water, and the beautiful sirens are waiting to see me again is a magical idea. I often find myself in nature, and the beach and riverside are my favorite places to be. In the beauty of wilderness and all the amazing creatures down to the tiny bugs and flowers, I never feel very alone anymore ❤

Aaaah, I'm so sorry 🤭 🙈 I did consider putting the sirens in the water, but I had changed it up so much that my heart was just over it 🤭 It's on my list to try again in the future, though!

I enjoy being alone and I don't even feel the need to have lots of friends. I'm happy with a few close people that are there for me when I need them or feel like being social. Being lonely it’s nothing wrong with it. I live in Virginia and I have no friends here and I’m ok with it. I moved here from California couple years ago I have couple friends there that I’m still in contact. Being alone is always great and you make decisions on your own to make things happen for yourself. And pretty much do things freely. Love your Cats. I had a black cat but he died last year. He was 17 years old. I don't have many friends either. I pretty much stay in my studio as much as I can. I have my husband I have one friend who's like my sister and I have my cats and my bunny. Look at my nickname or my screen name I'm definitely weird but I had friends but it seemed they only called me when they needed something so I just stopped calling them if I was the only one that would call them to see what's what and they couldn't be there for me when I needed them to or in fact purposely left me out when I had never done the same. Happiness does come from relationships but it comes from those very few positive very strong good ones not the other one

Greetings!! I'm so with you on the topic friends. I've always preferred a handful of close lovelies versus a giant group and for the longest time I felt that I was the weird one as everyone around me wanted to be connected to alllll the people. I'm currently re-emerging from a season where I was a lot more to myself (in all honesty, not by choice at first, but a burnout can be quite persuasive) and after years of being a social butterfly, that time of silence and the inner peace that became an undercurrent, I could finally see myself better and become a better friend to me first. And now I'm coming back online again and the only thing I desire is to create a community and connect with like-minded lovelies who indeed love to twirl in forests, muse about life, food and snacks and all the magical things. 🥰 Also, I'd love to have my hair in a waterfall braid; does she take appointments? 🖤 And and PATREON!!! 🤗🎊✨

I'm a Florida swamp witch just because we spend time alone does not mean we are lonely. I know that my own head has enough people and spirits and ghosts and fairies and even my cats talk to me so beautiful being that you are just continue to be.
Follow your heart and open your mind but don't let your heart and your mind get entwined when you think too many thoughts on the feelings you feel You heart may not know which feelings are real so close your eyes feel feelings flow your heart will tell you which direction to go break down the barriers it's a good way to start so open your mind but always no matter what follow your heart. It's chaos out there. Mother Earth is practically on fire right now so wanting to stay in our company cottages whether it's a fairy cottage or a Florida swamp witch we feel a lot and the energy can be overwhelming. Aren't we all misunderstood? Look at my screen name death is misunderstood she is not there to cause harm she's there to take us on our next adventure death is more scary for the people who have not died who are still there.
I enjoy solitude...no I need solitude to recharge, especially with half the household being loud people, very energy-draining, but I am also lonely because I'd love to have some locals to play games with (household members are not suitable for various reasons), and I honestly am surprised that in the area in which I live, which is reasonably well-populated, that I still struggle to make genuine connections with even after living here decades now, and not for lack of trying, I'm here to say. I feel it's the Nerdy/Geeky Introvert's Dilemma...if I have to pick tho, I'd rather be alone cus feeling lonely in a crowd is way harsher.
Totally resonate with everything you said. I still live in my home town and don't seem to connect with many people. We also tried a while back to find/form a board game group - husband wanted to play D&D, but the groups were all so exclusive and didn't want to add characters to the game or something? I don't understand how it works 🤭 But it was definitely that 'lonely in a crowd' feeling. I prefer the loneliness without the crowd 🙈

Life isn’t perfect, but my friends and family walked away or I had to push them away finally and I’ve actually been much happier by myself. I was married for 31 years and have a big family, but people didn’t act right so I had to break relationships.
You can actually be your own best friend by doing the best you can in life. I go out of my way to spend time trying to use my art to protect humanity. I do little things have a positive influence on society in such a way that I don’t have to guess whether society would be better or worse without I know it would be worse
The reality is if you are really passionate about something in life, there isn’t a lot of time for other people.
You know how they always talk about career or family well if your career is yours yourself taking care of humanity then you really really don’t need anyone else around. It’s nice if you can find someone that you can sync with, but that’s actually a lot harder than it sounds
It is actually OK because in someways you do have friends, but they’re virtual. Real people, but you don’t meet all of them. The Internet has its own group of friends in different areas and some of us travel across multiple areas
This is more of a supportive environment than a lot of real friendships :)

I am very unsure about my almost friendless situation. I used to have many gfriends I lovef to hang out with as a child and in my teens. Then year after year after they got fewer and fewer. We grew apart or moved apart. Then also grew apart. Fewer and fewer new people came into my life that I could call friends. I like a good acquaintance but I long for one true friendship. One friend with whom I can share almost everything. One who laughs about my jokes, gets my homour, makes me laugh as well, holds my hand sometimes and just brightens any day we meet. I used to have friends like that. But we grew apart. I still miss what we had. But I don't know that I can have it again with someone else. Maybe its an age thing. Maybe its something about me thats changed. I don't know. Maybe it's something to do with being kind of bisexual/biromantical. I would love a very true, deep, loving friendship with another woman. Maybe one day again. Also a group of nice friends to hang out, like family, would be lovely. Cannot deny it. But its not easy to find that, at least not for me.

Love the video. Will just admit that the music is a wee bit too loud - it interferes with your narration in points where there's crescendos, and when in background, sometimes it removes one from the experience of the video. Nothing that can't be adjusted with a little volume mixing ^^ Otherwise the whole experience was a treat ^^
