- The Constitutional Court has ruled that Chris Hani's killer, must be released on parole within 10 days. It found that the decision by Justice Minister, Ronald Lamola, to deny Janusz Walus parole in 2020, was irrational.
Walus, a Polish immigrant, shot and killed SACP Secretary-General, Chris Hani in 1993. Hani's murder shook the country, with fears that his death would plunge South Africa into civil war. Walus has applied for parole five times, saying he is reformed. Chief Justice Raymond Zondo read out the unanimous judgment.
Chris Hani's wife, Limpho, did not mince her words in her response to the judgment.

It is so sad that losing a love one by the hand of a murderer fills one up with hate for lifetime. So much that for forgiveness there is no place in a person's heart.

The lady is out of line. Why is she personal? Judges cannot be emotionally attached but interpret the Law. Either we change our laws or live with their results.
